This little guy is amazing! It is smaller than it looks, and comparable in size to a "traditional" handheld vac. In terms of weight, it's actually lighter than many traditional handheld models. With the hose locked into position (like in the default product picture), it "drives" very nicely -- the center of gravity is basically right under the handle, so it maneuvers very easily without too much effort. I was worried about it being clunky or awkward at first based on its appearance, but it's actually the most maneuverable handheld vac I've ever used. With the hose detached from the handle, you can either hold the hose in one hand and the vacuum unit in the other; or, you can set the latter down next to you. Detaching the hose helps greatly with detail work, and also with cleaning in tight spaces (e.g. the car). The hose is 4 feet long and extremely flexible. The unit has a lithium ion battery, so it shouldn't experience power fade. It's very well powered, with strong suction. It won't best your upright vacuum, but it's more than adequate for vacuuming up dirt/dust/leaves/etc. in my car footwells, dirt and sand on the carpet, spilled dry foods in the kitchen, small pet food messes, etc. The crevice tool is great for cleaning in corners, baseboards, and other tight spots. This is one of the best home cleaning purchases I've ever made! I highly recommend it. UPDATE: 1.5 years in, and it's still going strong! Still every bit as great as the day I bought it. The suction is still very powerful. The filter rinses out easily in the sink, so there are no consumables to pay for. The battery still holds a great charge -- I've never run out of juice during use. This little guy is so versatile! It's the BLACK+DECKER dustbuster FLEX Cordless Handheld Vacuum. I really love the flexible hose, it makes cleaning the car so easy! The hose is a good length, and with the crevice tool on the end of it, I can clean between the console and the front seats, an area that is a great collector of trash and crumbs. It also comes with a pet hair attachment, which I haven't tried yet, but I don't have any shedding animals either. 😁 I primarily bought it to use on my window sills, though, when the tiny bugs are all over. Works great for that, too. One of the "Cons" listed says it takes two hands. I didn't find that to be a problem. As I said, it has a long flexible hose, so you can put the motor part down, and use one hand to manipulate the hose end. But I do have to hold it with one hand when cleaning some window sills. But that's not a deal breaker for me. It has run for 20 minutes (so far) on a charge. It has very good suction, better than the old Dirt Devil I'm replacing. It's easy to sit on the base, and has a place for the attachments. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it is loud. But since I only use it for less than 20 minutes at a time, and it works so well, I can live with that. And I do have earplugs if I decide I need them. I love this style of hand-held vacs. I had one for years before I bought this one and I loved it until it quit working. I am liking this one just as much. The suction power is great, the attachments are helpful, the charging tray makes it easy to charge the vac. The things I don't like about the vacuum are that it has to be sitting flat and level in order to charge. My last vacuum had a cord that plugged into it to charge it so it didn't matter how it was situated. It allowed me to mount it on the inside wall of the closet, out of the way. Very convenient. This one needs to lay flat and level to charge on the tray, otherwise it will fall off and not charge. So now it takes up room on top of a counter or my dryer. I've been moving it around trying to find the best place that's not so inconvenient, usable but not in the way. Another downside of this vacuum is the length of each charge. They don't seem to last very long. Depending on the size of the room I want to clean, the charge doesn't always last until I am done getting the room cleaned. It's frustrating having to stop and wait for it to charge in order to finish cleaning. My last vacuum's charge lasted longer. It was the same brand so I don't understand why there is such a big difference. Unfortunately it's been too long, it seems they no longer make the older model that worked so well. Isn't that the way it always goes? Other than the shorter battery charge, the other item is purely my personal preference so all in all this vacuum is doing pretty good. Considering the other hand-held vacuum options out there to buy, I would definitely buy this one again. ... show more

I purchased this to replace another nearly-identical (earlier model) handheld vacuum. These are the best little rechargable handhelds we've used, hands down. We've tried the Dust Devils and the Sharks and others, but this one holds a charge well (though eventually the batteries wear down and stop holding power - it took a few years, though, of occasional-to-regular use/recharging), has good suction pretty well if you just use the flexible hose and attachments (not sure it would do as well with the long tube attachment, but I use it for quick handheld cleaning so that hasn't been an issue), and comes with a nice array of useful ends.
