Initially I had bought a cordless vacuum that was around $100. It was basically a Dustbuster with a handle and attachments. It was okay, but not great for what I wanted it for, which was basically picking up cat litter and essentially replacing sweeping for the most part in my kitchen and laundry room. I returned it and did a little research. Consumer Reports gave this vacuum pretty good reviews. I figured I'd give it a shot. I kinda wanted a Dustbuster too, so I just bought an actual Dustbuster and this vacuum. This vacuum is AMAZING. It is better than my corded upright. I don't have to charge it often. It is easy to empty. BTW, I use my Dustbuster to clean the filter when I empty it. I am beyond thrilled. I wasn't planning on spending so much on a cordless vacuum, but I did want one that worked. This is soooo worth the money. There was mention of it not being the best quality. I try to be careful with it, especially the handle. I have banged it into a few things and it seems to take it okay. I heard the manufacturer will replace the handle, but I went ahead and got the extended warranty just in case there was a problem. I'm actually glad I did. I love this vacuum. I actually enjoy vacuuming now. The light is great. Swivel action is sweet! Goes down quite low to get under things like my bed and baker's rack. Suction is amazing. For real, be careful. Old or damaged carpet could really get messed up. Edge cleaning is dope! And it actually does what I want it for which is getting the cat litter that my cat manages to get on the floor from the mat that is under the litter box. This is one of the BEST things I have ever purchased in my life. I can't recommend it enough. My son came by when I first got this and asked me how it worked. I got a fairly full ashtray and just dumped it on the carpet. I had never used it to clean up a mess like that, but I knew it could do it. It was amazing!!!! Picked up the ashes and the butts. I was flying high on the awesomeness of this vacuum obviously. Tell your friends. You might seriously consider making this your main vacuum. For real. The roller brush comes out, but I don't even bother taking it out.

I have slate floors with deep, uneven grooves (pretty, but a huge pain to clean). I also have a two year old, which has proven to be a bad combination with the floors. Finding something that adequately picks up everything from Cheerios to wet spaghetti noodles was my main goal. I did a ton of research and finally decided on the Bissell Air Ram Cordless, 1984 after watching Vacuum Wars on YouTube (definitely watch it if you want to see side-by-side comparisons of vacuums in different categories). Pros: - Good battery. I can quickly vacuum my 2k first floor on one charge. - Inexpensive. Not a lot of bells and whistles, so you’re just paying for a really good vacuum. - Lightweight and easy to use. My 2 year old likes to “help” use it and can push and pull it easily. Good maneuverability. - Easy to empty canister. - Works great on slate, tile, rugs, and wood floors - The light is awesome. I can see all the nastiness quite easily. - Picks up big and small. Half a strawberry and chalk dust? No problem. Oh, and did I mention I have a cat? Goodbye cat hair! - Don’t have to mount it on a wall to charge it. Just plug it in with a little cord (easier than a cell phone) on the floor near an outlet. Cons: - Not the quietest, but also not the loudest, vacuum I’ve seen. - Sometimes doesn’t get edges very well. This wasn’t a deal buster for me since it does so well in every other category.

I have had this vacuum for two years now. I have a 2500 square-foot home that has mostly hard floors, but I do have a large area rug in the den. This vacuum cleaner has excellent suction and a very long lasting battery. I’ve had the same battery since I bought it two years ago.; the battery charge lasts for over a week. I use the vacuum every day! It does a good job on the carpet and a great job on hard wood. It does not scratch my hardwood floors. The only thing that I wish it would do would get along the baseboards better. But as a little quick stick vac, it is fantastic. I would definitely buy it again.

We have purchased four of these vacuum cleaners. We absolutely love the versatility of not having accord and I have a large home, mostly carpeted. I can do the entire house on one battery. It is amazing how much stuff comes up. It is also easy to clean the canister, but you have to really do it after each vacuuming and to clean the green filter also. We’ve had to return one vacuum because it stopped working fairly quickly. Our other vacuum was purchased just a little over a year ago and the canister sticks when pulling it out. I’ve checked a replacement part and it is about $40 so I will probably order the canister. I have not checked the manufacturer to see what the warranty is but I will probably do that first. But if you have a small smaller house with floors and carpet, I would definitely recommend this vacuum cleaner.

Order this cordless Air Ram for your Mom or Gramma for Mom's Day while it is still in stock. I had one for 10 years and absolutely loved it. Even a contractor doing some dry wall work in my place years ago loved and praised this vac in clean up job. My 10 yr old much loved cordless Bissel Air Ram retired 2 months ago and I couldn't find replacement cordless air ram anywhere at that time. I am handicapped and I dragged out old corded vac and almost fell, tripping on cursed cord. I ordered a somewhat pricey cordless stick vac, no power, had to be charged after 10 minutes and doesn't stand alone. It fell over on the dog and on my broken foot. It clogged up in 5 minutes with wool carpet fibers and it is beast to clean that tube stick. A month old new vac and will get donated to Goodwill or dumpstered, if they don't accept appliances. I was so delighted, excited and thankful to find this Cordless Bissel Air Ram Vac on Amazon. I ordered it and came last night in snow storm. Many thanks to that Prime delivery driver. I was vacuuming with big smile at 8 p.m. I am happiest 88 yr old homebound handicapper in town. Thank you Bissel, Amazon and Prime delivery guy. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you all. Bissel, stay making this Vac model. I have had all other vacuums , every brand, every make, every model, every price the last 70 years and Bissel Cordless Air Ram Vac is absolutely best to do the heavy work. Easiest to use, safest, lightweight and simple to empty, clean and , rinse the filter and waste container. And this wonderful Bissel has hours and hours of battery life and used everyday for 5-10 minutes on average, maybe 20 minutes on cleaning day. I can use this vacuum from wheelchair on hard wood floors, bathroom tile floor, and living room wool rug and bedroom carpets are all clean clean clean. TY,TY,TY. My floor cleaning stress and anxiety is over, thanks to you all.

This is the 2nd Boswell 1984 etc. That we have owned. It gets used at 5 days a week, the first one lasted over 5 years. Picks up all cat hair, even on the rugs. We love it, will buy another when we kill this one.

We bought another cordless vacuum to clean up hair from our two dogs, but it simply didn't have enough suction. The Bissell Air Ram vacuum does. It won't replace a corded vacuum, which we have to use every week or two, but for a quick daily cleanup it's great. At first I thought the headlight was pointless, but I found that at least on our dark hardwood floors it works well to highlight dog hair. I usually keep the lights low when I vacuum with this one because the headlight works so well for us. The only minor issues we have is that it seems to work best when pushed ahead, but when pulling it back towards yourself it sometimes seems to push dog hair instead of passing over it so it can suck it up. I also wish the battery charge indicator was more linear. It has four segments forming a circle. All four are lit when it's fully charged, and the segments go dark as the charge decreases. However, each of the four sections doesn't really seem to indicate 25 percent charge. We get about two days of full charge (all four segments lit), plus another day or day and a half with one segment dark (should be 75 percent charged). It never seems to go to two segments lit/two dark (half charged), but instead straight to one segment lit. After that, the battery discharges very quickly. This is a relatively minor issue since it seems consistent. Once we learned how it behaves, we can account for it. We can reliably get three days of use from one charge. That means we vacuum the bedroom, hall, living room, and kitchen three times. If I'm quick about it, we can get a fourth day before charging the battery. That seems pretty good to me for one charge. Overall, we are pleased with the Bissell and would buy it again.

I'm 59 and in my youth worked as a school custodian and private cleaning crew to pay for college. I've used many vacuum cleaners. This is FAR and away my favorite device. Ever. This vacuum cleaner goes easily from hard wood or tile surfaces to rugs and carpets. It runs on a rechargeable battery and has power to spare. Emptying the collection bin is very straight forward and simple. You can also easily remove the roller for use on loose rugs, or fringed rugs. The price compared to that of other similar models makes the Bissell a bargain. I shopped for this product by using my subscription to Consumer Reports, where this model was highly rated. It was about 1/3 the price of the Dyson, although the Dyson can convert to a hand held unit and includes tools - - both lacking on this Bissell model. For me, this unit is all I need, and I vacuum much more often because it is so easy (and fun) to use. ===================== UPDATE AFTER 4 MONTHS ===================== November 9, 2018: The Bissell RAM Air is still working flawlessly. I haven't experienced any of the issues I've read from some users -- but I thank them for mentioning them, since I'm watching carefully for any signs of similar flaws. I do understand that this vacuum is not heavy duty, and using it in a commercial environment on a daily basis could wear out the pins that hold the handle together, due to the repeated stress on the plastic pins by pushing and pulling the handle. I may try to head this off by epoxy gluing the handle. ===================== UPDATE AFTER 3 YEARS ===================== November 8,2021: This is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had. It holds a charge for a very long time. I never experienced any issues with the handle, as mentioned by an earlier post, where the user used it frequently at a business. It is easy to clean. One can (and must) clean the hepafilter occasionally. This is best done by hand, using dish soap, then drying it thoroughly by air. I still highly recommend this product.
