I bought this splitter for a tree i cut down on front yard. I reviewed alot of others, but this one was the best for its price and power it has, I can tell you, i been trying to beat this log splitter to the ground and so far, after 3 cords of wood i have split, this is still going like a beast. I have maybe sharpened the wedge on it, once .Would help more if i sharpened it more I have never filled liquid in . I have kept this outside in rain, and dirt all over it. Still, it keeps on going.. I have split tree cuts close to 30 inches in diameter, some even more larger. I had dug a trench for the log splitter to kind of sit in, ground level so i can roll the logs over it to split. Check out the photos. you can see the size of logs to the wheelbarrow, give you an idea on diameter. Once i split it, you can see other end on almost split through.(Photos are out of order, but it's the 3rd and 7th photo that it cracked, the 6th photo is the log split in half). Once i gave it a wiggle, it broke in half. After that, you just keep splitting those pieces up. Tip, i put wood on the ground for me to roll the log up, onto the splitter. If i have to every buy another log splitter again, it will be this one... For the price of it and what it can do..... WOW. So amazed. Showing you, that this log splitter can and will split larger logs, than what is written on requirements. Really, the only bad things i had was that the front metal supports are thin, and the bolts get lose fast. Keep an eye on those, maybe put Loctite on those bolts. Last, is the knob where you loosen up for the Fluid to release, that knob is now broken half off, because a log hit it, as it was splitting, But, its okay now, it was just the plastic ,that got broken, i can still twist it close or open by hand..

This thing works on logs much thicker than I thought it should handle. I think the biggest ones were about 12 - 14 inches in diameter and about 14 inches long since that's the length my woodstove needs. I've primarily split Osage Orange, Red Oak and some Locust. So far it hasn't met a log it didn't split but I try to not do really big pieces. It is a little annoying that you have to hold the button down with one hand and work the actuator lever with the other, it makes it more difficult to hold the wood steady when lining up your split it where you want. Still, for its size it splits surprisingly well. I think if it holds up over time it is a great little splitter for my wood supply.

I received the device last week. Yesterday, I put it together, which was dead simple: only the handle needed to be attached. I watched a few videos of people using it, which helped, although it is very easy to use. I've used it for two days now, splitting logs up to a foot in diameter. Works like a charm. Only had to use a wedge once to remove a log that was stuck (a trick I learned in one of the videos). I'm quite happy with how it worked. A few of my logs that I had cut were cut too long. I'll have to be more careful in the future. This splitter is one that has the longest throw, which is nice. A warning to older persons, like myself. It is very heavy: built like a tank. I could not lift it out of the box and when I wheeled it to the wood pile it took all of my energy. It won't fall apart. Why only 4 stars. I would give it 4.5 if I could. But the heavy weight and the narrow wheel base, which makes it easy to topple sideways on my lawn, are my only criticisms. And they may now be issues at all for everyone.

Highly surprised at how well this log splitter works. Splits pine, cedar, birch, and maple with ease, and even tried a few 12inch diameter hickory logs and surprisingly it had enough power. Very handy and portable, weighs about 100lbs and will easily fit in the bed of a Polaris ranger. The only time I’ve had it struggle is with older soft wood. Used it for two hours straight the first day, and then another few hours the next day. I would recommend tightening all the bolts when you unbox it.

Works really good. I have a small woodstove and a small fireplace so the logs I split are only about 14 inches long. The splitter doesn’t hesitate at all. Perfect for what I need.

Excellent quality and performance thus far. Had a number of trees down after Helene - the one thing there's no shortage of is oak for firewood. This splitter works very well on lengths less than 24" and diameters less than 12". Note that lengths >= to 2 feet will not fit the splitter. Set up and operation is intuitive and simple, was splitting firewood within minutes, worked for an hour and can't wait to get back to it. Very satisfying crack and split with zero effort on my part. Did not order the stand but in hindsight it may have been good to avoid back strain. Lots of logs to split, so we shall see how it holds up over time.
