Great value. High quality and handles any dry logs that you can possibly fit in it. You might find the safety mechanism annoying/slow if you're working through a lot of wood, but then again this probably isn't the right product if you're working through a lot of wood. It's great for splitting small batches for use in the fireplace. Because, in my situation, it is used only a few dozen times per year by many different people, I appreciate the fool-proof safety mechanism.

Ordered and received within 4 days. Am splitting fir and pine, 20 in max length, 7 in max diameter, is fast, smooth, relatively quiet and working on my 120 v home electric. Solid without being bolted to floor, able to move wood from tailgate of pickup to splitter, and then with wheelbarrow right next to splitter, wood falls easily into wheelbarrow for movement to wood stack.

This thing impressed me. I had a bunch of oak to split that was dry and fibrous. It was a nightmare to split with an axe. This thing got through every piece. Sometimes I had to adjust the log and find a different spot and it struggled on a few but it worked. I got through pine very easily. If you split wood at home, I think this is a great unit.

Purchased this for home use. Just installed a wood stove last year and have a bunch of logs and tree trunk sections stacked in the backyard that I have been splitting with it. So far, it has no issues with anything I've put in it. The locking ring allows you to prevent the splitter from sliding all the way back so you can split shorter logs faster. Very satisfied with the purchase.

A cord of logs, a small wood stove, and all new to me. After prolonged illness, I’m nowhere near as strong or limber as I used to be, downright frail, in fact, so after research and a couple YouTube reviews, I bought the Bilt Hard 6.5 ton splitter. Family members set it up, and I was on my own. And pretty intimidated— This lovely tool works extremely well for routine firewood splitting, right down to kindling if desired. It’s FUN, and being able to deal with my own firewood made me feel some confidence again. It doesn’t require strength to operate, it moves short distances easily on the wheeled stand, and the sharp crack when a log splits is so rewarding! Wear gloves and safety glasses, boots, and have some fun.

I have now owned three log splitters in my 40 years of splitting wood. This is my first electric splitter. I have no idea what 6.5 tons means and I frankly don't care. I am 73 now and only split about 4 full cords a year. For the past three years I have used my ax on the easy ones and rented a splitter for the twisty ones. I have a good technique and lots of experience ax splitting but it jars my shoulders and hands so I get sore. The reviews on this splitter are overwhelmingly positive and the price with stand is very affordable. Delivery was five days before the estimated delivery date. The box it comes in is well over 100 lbs. I opened the box on the garage floor by cutting the box along a side so nothing had to be pulled out of the top. If you have a helper great, I am a hermit. The directions as others have mentioned are no good but the way forward on the build was obvious. I must comment on the screws and bolts. They were well machined and I had no trouble with them. The holes they went into were well lined up and I had no issues there. I could not lift the unit so I built it on the garage floor upside down, so the stand was up and the splitting unit was on the cardboard from the packing. Flipping it right side was my challenge. I could not do it with a sideways flip. I turned it on it's short edge, blocked wheels down and was able to flip it that way with a modicum of effort. All in all assembly took an hour. The wheels are small and hard and I think I will look into a better set. The wheels are held in place by cotter pins. It was time to split. I currently have ash. Thanks emerald ash borer :-( This splitter had NO PROBLEM with the wood. I was splitting pieces 18 inches long with twist and turns and branch butts in the grain easily. I thought I would mind having to use two hands to run the ram but I didn't mind. I do have a foot pedal I will try out as time permits. If you think an electric log splitter is beneath you, not worth it or no good for home fire wood production on a limited scale you are wrong. After one session I heartily recommend the BILT HARD . Get off the fence and start splitting
