This rack is a beast. It weighs 45lbs and comes with a 2" connector, not some convertor that goes from a 1.25" to 2" that just invites wobble. Very easy to assemble and operate. Knowing I was only going to put 1 bike on there, I took the second bike rail and took apart the bar that stabilizes the tire and flipped it around so I could have a support bar on the front of the bike and the back. Instead of having 1 bar on the bike, I now have two. Made a big difference in stability. All it took is a 4mm Allen wrench to remove the two supporting screws and flip the bar around. Lots of thick steel in the rack making it very strong.

Assembly was pretty straight forward. The rack has a slight rise from the hitch allowing better clearance on driveways and dips. This also means you have to lift your bikes slightly higher as well, without a ramp. Can be done by one, but two sets of hands helps. The weight of the rack is in the lower range of available racks which is nice when attaching/removing from vehicle. A nice feature is that the hitch pin is actually a bolt which tightens the rack to the hitch w/ out any wobbles (24 mm wrench SUPPLIED!). It also has a keyed lock to prevent theft. If your bikes have fenders (mine do) make sure the front fender is fairly short in front as the balance arm has to be high on top, behind the center of the wheel. This arm just barely fits under the front 1" of my fenders and holds them securely. Overall, VERY pleased with this rack after my first use (320 mi round trip). Price is amazing for the quality/stability. As I said, only drawback is there is no ramp/option so have to lift bikes.

Solid Budget E-Bike Rack That Gets the Job Done I picked up the TANX 2-Bike Hitch Rack for my e-bikes after comparing several options north of $300, and so far I’m impressed with how much value this rack delivers for the price. Assembly took about 25 minutes — straightforward, and they even include a decent full-size chrome wrench, which is a nice touch. The steel feels substantial, welds look solid, and once tightened into the 2-inch hitch (using the supplied anti-wobble bolt), it sits very firmly with minimal play. Loading two 60-lb e-bikes is definitely a lift since there’s no ramp, but the platform height is manageable and the fold-down mechanism makes it easy to reach the trunk without removing the bikes. I also appreciate the horizontal 180° foam hooks that can adjust for step-through frames — a smart design that eliminates the need for a crossbar adapter. On the road, it feels steady at highway speeds with no rattles once secured with an extra strap and hitch tightener. A few things to note: the latch lever can get a bit crowded by the inner arm when folding upright, so you’ll need a bit of finesse there. The rack also lacks built-in locks and isn’t ideal for very long-wheelbase bikes (measure before buying). Still, for occasional weekend rides and road trips, it handles e-bikes up to 130 lbs total without a hitch (pun intended). Bottom line: a sturdy, thoughtfully designed budget-friendly rack that delivers 90% of the performance of premium brands at less than half the cost — ideal for casual riders or anyone hauling two mid-weight e-bikes on a budget.

I don't often write reviews, but I felt this was an exceptional product for the price. After visiting local bike shops, reading numerous customer reviews and objective product comparisons in well-known bicycle magazines, I found this one checks all the boxes. I bough this on sale for around $220, regular price was around $280. The competitors like Thule, Kuat, One-Up and others were in the $800+ price range. The TANX rack is every bit as good. Weight - at 43.5 pounds, it's lighter than most of the similar racks that are typically listed at 50 - 60 pounds. It folds up on the car when not loaded; tilts down with bikes mounted to allow SUV tailgates to open; bikes are secured with anchors that clamp tightly to the bike tires, no contact to the bike frame. One item that was key for me is that the rails that support the bike and to which the tire cups mount to can be moved side-to-side. This lets me center my long-wheel-base mountain bike with respect to the width of my car. Most racks have a fixed position for the front wheel and the back wheel of larger/longer bikes may hang off one side of the vehicle. Some reviews have complained about the plastic tire cups, but they are solid and hold up fine unless a person intentionally abuses them. This rack has a hitch lock, but offers no other included cable locks. Bring your own for $25. One feature I wish it had is a knob to snug the rack into the trailer hitch receiver. That's a minor complaint, as only a few brands have that feature. With the TANX rack, it mounts snugly, it's just achieved by tightening a thread hinge pin into the hitch receiver. I was in sticker shock when I started shopping for a hitch-mounted bike rack. This one is every bit as good for a much more reasonable price!

Let's start with who puts a hitch pin that is threaded? Want to take it off break out the handy wrench that comes with it. If you are lucky you can get 1/8 turn with clearence or you just plan on having the damn thing on forever. Then you have to hope and pray that whoever welded the threaded bolt put it on straight because mine was welded by the blind man causing it to be stripped. If, like most users would be wanting to pull it off now and then the fix is to get a drill press or a hammer drill and a 5/8 bit and drill out the threading so you can put a NORMAL hitch pin in, or a locking hitch pin (towworks makes a nice one) if you have the other problem like the pin is about 3/4 inch TO SHORT you would have to replce it with a real hitchpin anyway. Design flaw number 2 the swing arm for the inside bike gets in the way of the release lever for the thing to fold down so there is that problem Design flaw 3 holes for the safety pin for the folding up and down doesn't exactly line up so you have to fight getting the safety pin in. We have two e-bikes that we like to take with us when we camp. I mounted this rack on front of our truck so I can keep my eye on them while pulling our camper. This rack is strong, sturdy, and easy to load and unload the bikes. It’s so simple to use. Love how it folds up too. We’ve hauled our bikes this way over 1000 miles so far. I use an anti-rattle clamp on the receiver to make it solid. It doesn’t budge. Great bike rack!

I have not transported the bikes yet so this review is simply initial impression and overall build quality. I’m thoroughly impressed with the materials, build quality and remarkable ease of assembly. It looks like a much more expensive rack. I have installed it on the vehicle and loaded the bikes. Everything seems solid. So far the only thing I’ve noticed that’s marginally questionable is the conflicting position of the lever and the inner bike rack when trying to stow the rack upright. It just takes a little finesse but in no way takes a star away front the review. I anticipate this being perfect for what I need. What other products come with a full-size chrome wrench?? Kudos, Tanx.

My wife recently got an ebike and I've built a bikepacking setup from a Surly Karate Monkey. Needed a rack with a little more capacity than what I had. This seems to fit the bill pretty well but I did note a couple issues. . 1) If you install per instructions, you don't quite have room to actuate the tilt lever. The fix is easy enough, you need to install the bike support closest to the hitch receiver upside down from the way it's indicated on the instruction sheet. This puts the part that swings up to grab the front wheel on the other side and gives you the needed clearance to actuate the tilt lever. However, because of the way the sliding rear wheel support is designed, you loose a little bit on maximum allowable wheelbase. That being said, my Karate Monkey still fits and it's a pretty long wheelbase bike. 2) Bolts that clamp the bike supports to the rest of the carrier absolutely need locking threads. The only thing that keeps the bike supports from sliding off the rest of the rack is friction. Other bike racks do this so, I assume it will work well. That being said, the lack of any kind of lock mechanism on the bolts is concerning. Over time, they are certain to vibrate loose. Without some kind of secondary mechanism to hold everything in place, they could slide loose. In my case, I put Permatex on those threads and painted slippage marks on the parts that hold it all together so I could see if anything was moving/coming loose over time. I also like to run a cable lock from the hitch receiver to the last bike (through the first one) both for security and as a secondary retention method. Picture showing all of that is included. So, some concerning design issues, but they can be worked around and the resulting rack is adequate for my needs. One last thing, I'm not seeing that you can order spare parts like straps, front/rear wheel supports, etc. Not a big deal but would have been a nice touch.
