Super clear directions on how to put this together! Amazing! It’s small but it works for probably 2-3 full grown chickens; I’m just using it for growing chicks, and I would still let my chickens free range and put them in there overnight if you plan on keeping more than 2 in there. I’m definitely putting hardware cloth (or chicken wire) on top BEFORE I put this all the way together and screw the plastic lid on the top—that plastic is NOT good for keeping predators out. I like the light it offers the chicks though, just needs some reenforcing (which is why it gets 4 out of 5 stars. Still a very nice coop for my baby chicks.

I bought this to grow out some pullets in a separate run before I put them with the big hens. It is small the wood is very light weight and probably wouldn't last in the elements without being water sealed but I assumed that when I purchased it. The design is well thought out and easy to assemble. I would not expect it to be secure from predators, so you would probably have to place it in a secure run. This is pretty small so I wouldn't plan on it housing five full size hens maybe bantams. All in all I got what I expected. If you're looking for a long-term chicken coop this probably isn't it. Overall it's a nice little coop.

Note, this is my first time keeping chickens, so I got this coop as part of the experiment. I have 5 sex link hen chicks - crosses between New Hampshire White and New Hampshire Red. I don't think this will be big enough for them when they're full grown, but I have some months to work on that. But I wasn't too worried about this - lots of comments about using it as an isolation coop for injured or sick chickens. As others have mentioned, this is a decent coop for a very good price. I give it 5/5 for that. Notes: 1. I didn't notice that this doesn't have a door between the coop and the run by default. I'm going to have to install one, my chicks are still very young, and I don't want them running outside until they're a couple weeks older - at least not without a momma hen. 2. Lots of comments about the clear plastic roof not being strong enough. It seems plenty strong to me, maybe they updated the design to improve it? 3. The latches for the 2 doors are rather weak, though the latch on the nesting box should be fine with a clip or lock. 4. The instructions say it can take up to 90 minutes to build with 2 people. It took me about 2 hours to build by myself, with me being nitpicky and clamping much of it together to get things lined up just right before screwing it in, as well as doing things like gluing any dowels. 5. I managed to strip a couple of the screws putting them in. A little wood glue and a toothpick or two fixes that. I think that if I build a coop of my own, I might use this one as an example - just scale it up like 50%. I'm also considering painting at least the outside, so it's better protected from the Florida sun.

First I want to let you all know I read reviews before purchasing this coop. So I knew what I was getting into. It's not bad for the price if your handy like I am. First it is simple to put together. One thing you will have to put hardware wire beneither the sun roof. No ifs ands or butts. You will have to. Its flimsy and the slightest pressure pops it out. Easy fix is tun that sun roof upside down on the floor before installing it. Then lay your hardware wire out over it and stable it down all the way around. Trim the wire fencing and then install the roof as normal. There is no door between the coop and the run. It is however possible to rig one up rather easily if you wanted to. The coop is light weight ill be installing it on 2x4s later on for a chick house. I do feel it needs a protectant finish. Be it paint or Thompson water seal. The floor tray is flimsy I feel it won't last but a few days. I will be installing a piece of plywood there instead. The nesting box floor is not screwed in. You should drill lead holes and go ahead and screw it down. Yes lead holes are nessisarry. Or the wood will crack. First screw I did on the nesting box floor split the wood. Hence why I used drilled lead holes on the rest. The wood is very thin. The nesting boxes are smaller then most. It will not be warm in the winter. Not on its own at least. It is a little cramped for my 4 girls. Though they free range durring the day anyhow. This was bought to temporarily house them while I build a new large coop. Then ill use it for chicks later after a tad more upgrades to it.

This is the most horrible purchase I have made from Amazon. 1. It smells like cedar, bad for chickens to breathe. Its flimsy, can be turned upside down easily. Material is cheap. One small chicken can get in it. I have silkies and they are small, and still it was too small. The price is absurd for this coop. Nesting area boards have large gaps in and pine shaving fall out leaving all over ground. The nesting boards fall out and loose enough to let predators push up and open. Then chicken is exposed to ground with no structure to protect them. As I put together, I was in hopes after completing, it would be better. I needed a coop immediately in use. Tiny, tiny. After putting together I was not going to take apart and try to put back in box. It now sits with no chickens in it, useless!!!! The cost was astronomical for this piece of junk. I dont have box to return and will try to package with it built, if they take back like that. I purchase coops from Tractor Supply that are sturdy and dependable. I wanted a moveable coop on wheels, so ordered this. I hesitated and I guess, for good reason. I could have put wheels on any coop I have and would have been good. Also I found out cedar makes chickens sick. This was suppose to be fir, but come to find out...china fir is actually cedar. Or they spray with cedar odor. Roof is wood, not asphalt, so will soak up rain and rot Stupidly I purchase this one. Please don't buy this...its not worth the price or time to put together.
