Replaced an older Benq projector that was starting to show some "dust blobs" after 8 years of use which became distracting in darker scenes. This model is an improvement with a brighter picture and shorter throw distance. Very clear and bright 1080 HD image with factory default settings. True colors. 3D works well too, better than the old projector. Only drawback is there is no direct mute function on the remote. You have to go to settings each time you want to mute the sound if using the audio output from the blu ray player. I use it only for playing movies so can't review gaming. Everything great except they lied about the distance/screen size, 86 inches screen from 104 inches, someone mentioned this in other review, otherwise, great projector, amazing colors and very high brightness. If your eyes hurts, turn picture/image mode to Cinema or Living room, it will dim the colors and will be more pleasant for your eyes even in the dark ... show more

works exactly as advertised. You can play games offline with very low input lag. After one or two sessions, you'll no longer notice any lag. Great for Movies.     • Lamp didn't last 2 years, yet is rated 15,000 hours. Very disappointing.
The projector image quality is fairly solid. The brightness is decent. But the projector's lamp didn't last a full 2 years. In fact it only made it about 1.5 years. The lamp is rated for 15,000 hours. It's located in a well ventilated, space suspended from the ceiling in a dark room. Very unacceptable quality control from BenQ. Replacement bulbs should be offered for a unit that cost $600 (at the time). ... show more

    • Bulb blew within one year
Bought this unit Jun 2022, and on April 15, 2023, the bulb blew with a loud bang. And I don't even use it that often. It gets on average maybe 10-15 hours a month of usage.

Good picture, resolution, colors were a bit weak. overall a good deal for the money..the ht 2050;a at a hundred bucks more is the best projector under a thousand bucks so the question is your budget.
