Top Amazon Reviews

๐Ÿš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The projector is majorly appreciated for its superior image and color quality, and its smooth 3-D function. Even the refurbished units seem to be working quite well on delivery. Some customers, however, have faced issues with unstable inputs, color flickering, problems with image clarity, and the issue of brightness fading out.

Pros

  • ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ Superior image and color quality
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Good volume control
  • ๐ŸŒ€ Smooth 3D function
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Even refurbished units work well

Cons

  • ๐Ÿ‘Ž Difficult to achieve stable input detection
  • ๐ŸŒˆ Issues with color stability and flickering
  • ๐Ÿ’” Problems with image clarity due to over-sharpening
  • โšซ Dark scenes tend to disappear

Should I Buy It?

While the projector boasts excellent visual capabilities and performance, the mentioned stability issues could be a deal-breaker for some. It's recommended that prospective buyers weigh these potential problems against the high-performance image and color quality before making a decision.

  • Excellent bang for the Buck
Color: Bluish cayn/White
I've had this for just over a year, it's hooked up to a Sony Entertainment receiver and the picture is great. It's not a $5k dollar projector but we have it in a dedicated cinema room, nothing fancy, mounted up on the ceiling, 14' from a large 120" screen and we love it. For now it works great. The built in speaker works in a pinch but I don't recommend you rely on it. So far, not one problem. It takes a while to get it dialed in, but it's worth the money and Ben-Q is a reputable brand that has been around for decades and is a solid, proven brand. I recommend to anyone that want to get started with a Cinema room but isn't ready to plop down big $$$$ on your dream projector. ... show more

  • So, not impressed yet.
Color: White/Blue
Original 7/30/2019 So I like the HDR, it's amazing when gaming and with 4k movies. Directv looks like crap on there but that is a byproduct of DTV crappy receivers and not the projector. The resolution is spot on but I believe I may have received a bad unit because as you can see in the pictures I am having this cloudy area on the bottom foot of the screen that is a product of the projector. I have unhooked everything from the projector to make sure it wasn't one of my other devices doing this but with everything unhooked and it displaying a black image it is still there. I cleaned the lense, no good. I believe there is either and issue with an internal mirror or with the DLP chip itself, at least that's what I was able to find on the internet and Facebook Home Theater groups. I will update after trying a few more things and then worst case returning for a replacement. I still want this projector but I think I just got a bunk one, it happens, especially with electronics. Update 8/1/2019 Added the 3rd picture to show the cloudiness on a black screen with nothing else turned on. I thought maybe it was a dirty/oily screen but I held a piece of 11x17 paper in front of the screen and it was doing it on the paper. I believe it was a bad chip or mirror. Who knows, started the replacement process. I will update after I get that one set up and running. Update 8/26/2019 So got my replacement projector, no thanks to Amazon.com abismal customer service. They received the broken one on 8/8/2019 and I just got an email saying they were refunding the money today, 18 days later. Terrible terrible customer service on this return. Okay, back to the projector. Now that I have a good, working model this thing rocks for the 4k gaming projector, which I have done plenty of. The Division 2 looks so damn good and the HDR for the game is spot on. I have had a couple issue with the blue being too blue if that makes any since and it'll wash out the image some, pretty sure I still just need to mess with the settings to get the perfect picture. This a great replacement to my TV in the cave. ... show more

  • Pray it doesnโ€™t fail after the warranty
Color: White/Blue
Rating 1 start because of a horrid experience I just had with their customer service. The unit I purchased has a singular stuck mirror which I inquired how to fix knowing it was outside of the warranty date. BenQ is apparently very anti right-to-repair and refused to tell me how to fix it myself without sending the unit in. They informed me I would need to pay for my own shipping label, then pay an 85 dollar diagnostic fee so they could tell me the cost of repair plus labor plus another shipping label to send it back. After paying over a thousand dollars for this item I expect more. I was prepared to pay for maintenance items like lamps and the like, but for a stuck mirror? A clear failure in QC / part sourcing? No way. Thatโ€™s on BenQ not me. Are they not making enough money on their products they have to stoop to this business model? Itโ€™s a joke. Look elsewhere if you want a solid company behind your hard spent dollars. ... show more

  • The price become smaller once you see how good the picture is
Color: White/Blue
I really feel that I got far more than what I paid. the picture quality is outstanding with a wide range of color adjustments to get it just right. Picture looks great when the lights are on. I have a 15 foot wide screen and love the 4K quality and the picture quality when projected that large. Not having any kind of lens shift requires proper placement. I use a rolling carts and a tripod with a tray because I do not always sit the same distance from my screen. zoom is average, nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about. For the person that will set this up in a permanent place resume will work just fine. Or someone like me, that moves there projector, I am moving the projector more than I can get out of the zoom. BenQ website has a great throw range calculator. I had an LCD projector before this and the LCD was brighter, but I feel the picture quality on the BenQ is superior. You can adjust the trailer James and ranges to get the brightness you're looking for. Very happy with the Eco modes, they are bright enough oh, and you can still adjust the color ranges, and it's nice knowing I'm gaining thousands of hours of lamp life using the Eco settings. For the tech nerd there are a wide range of options to adjust and you will find yourself adjusting them depending upon the contents. Gaming is outstanding in 4k. Frame rate is outstanding and you have never really played a video game the right way until you played it on a 15 foot screen. There are not a lot of reviews online for the tk800m. Most reviews are for the tk800. Fan noise is unnoticeable to me even at normal lamp settings. To get the best 4K picture, brightness, and solid quality I'm very pleased I decided to jump into a DLP projector and leave the LCD behind. for not spending thousands of dollars on a projector, I feel I have a piece of equipment that costs thousands of dollars. Especially when hire models have far less lumen count. ... show more
