Our laundry room water shutoff valve for the washing machine failed and would not shut off. This valve easily screwed onto the GHT of the laundry room valve and now the water can be shut off without shutting off water to the entire house. The valve came with gaskets and two shutoff handle options. Time will tell but this looks and feels like a quality valve that will not corrode and fail to move after a few years.

This is a top notch shutoff valve. It is a heavy duty valve which you can feel the weight in your hand. The stainless steel body is complemented with a stainless steel handle. The handle action is smooth. The body is hex so easy to put a wrench to it. And the finish on body and handle is flawless. This is a high quality valve.

Arrived boxed and protected like a class ring. Heftiest valve you'll touch. Shiniest too. Originally the valve handle was too long: it hits the swivel grip in the open position. I thought I could slot it in reverse so it would point in the other direction but you can't. Fortunately, it comes with another handle that makes it very compact. Plus it's easier to use because of the rounded design. I would have really loved it if it was polished instead of blue. Still this is an important bonus feature not mentioned! You get a short handle included. You can just swap it out yourself with a PH2 screwdriver. Although heavy (comparted to the cheapo 'brass' ones), it balances this hose perfectly. It actually makes walking with the hose easier now. The SwivelGrip has this valve balancing it and you don't even notice the hose unwinding itself without any effort. Most importantly, very easy to hook up and not a single leak so far while being used with McKillans' stainless steel quick connect plugs. Price is high to match the high quality. Would buy again and would go back to see if this company puts out anything else that I might need.

This valve is nicely made, but the handle is not reversible. I am mounting it as a drain valve on a tank and the handle turns toward the tank to open. The handle is longer than the valve, and cannot fully open as it runs into the tank. Normally, you can take the handle off and flip it 180 degrees but this valve is made so that isn't possible.

If you've ever taken one of these apart, you know there's a void between the two nylon washers that the ball seals against. When the valve is turned off with water in the line, the center of the ball AND the gap between the ball and the casing is full of water. That casing water doesn't necessarily empty when you drain the line with the valve on. Trust me, I just blew up a nice brass valve that way! I cycled this SS valve underwater (watch and be amazed at how many bubbles come out when it's halfway open), then froze it at -5F, first in the closed and then in the open position. In each case, the body is strong enough that expanding water/ice forces out around the bushings and freezes on the ball surface. The body does not crack. My photos show the small ooze when open and a larger ooze when closed. Ice is technically a liquid, so think of this as a tiny glacier. I did *NOT* test leaving the line full of water and freezing, that's just dumb. But this should work on my cabin water supply with an underground waste gate valve that drains the line.
