I live in Texas. I have a 20 x 40 ft saltwater pool. I have oak and elm trees dropping leaves and pollen in my pool most of the year. Before leaving this review I've used the Beatbot iSkim Ultra everyday for a week. I've also owned the Beatbot Aquasense Pro for a month. The solar panel is only as useful as the sun exposure on your pool. For me, the solar panel will be very useful in the Spring and the Summer, not so useful in the Fall and Winter. In the past week (mid September) I've had to charge my iSkim Ultra 3 times. When its not charging (takes about 5 hours for a 100% charge) its in the pool cleaning. Unlike the Beatbot Aquasese Pro, this Beatbot iSkim Ultra cleans over the 20 x 6 ft tanning ledge in my pool. The Beatbot iSkim Ultra is very thorough cleaning the surface of the pool during the day. It senses when its dark at night and doesn't clean as well. I can see a difference in the clarity of the pool water when I use the water clarifier, so I say that feature works well. When I removed the Beatbot iSkim Ultra from my pool for charging I clean the filter basket. I am happy with the amount of leaves and pollen in the basket. I am very satisfied with this combination of Beatbot Aquasense Pro and the Beatbot iSkim Ultra. The Beatbot Aquasense Pro does a phenomenal job on the floor, walls and water line, NOT a satisfactory job on the pool water surface. The Beatbot iSkim Ultra does an incredible job on the pool water surface. I still have to get the net and the brush out to clean daily. Neither device cleans the steps. The time I spend with the net and the brush is a tiny fraction of what I spent before. These two devices don't clean themselves so I spend time cleaning their filter baskets. I spend 10 to 15 minutes dumping and rinsing off each of the two filter baskets.

This is a life saver. I had this robot for about 6 months now and never have to charge it. Put it there and the solar panel will charge it. With this fall, I haven't have to scoop the leaves from my pool yet. One thing about this robot is that the inlet is pitching a bit too high just at the water level, so it just push the debris around. I put a little stone on top to push it down a bit and now it work great.

The Beatbot iSkim Ultra Solar Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer is a beast of a unit. It looks nice, is packed with technology, and feels very well made. My in-ground pool is surrounded by tall junipers that drop needles into the water. After strong winds my pool will have many juniper needles floating on the surface. The Beatbot does a good job of removing the floating debris. The iSkim Ultra is a smart skimmer. It can connect to a 2.4GHz wifi network. After downloading and installing the Botbox app on my phone, I was easily able to use the app and get the skimmer connected to my wifi network - luckily I rely on the Internet for work and I have a wifi mesh network that easily covers my pool area. The iSkim Ultra just goes around my pool and does its thing. It's fun to watch. It has large roller brushes on the front corners to get debris from the corners and edges of the pool. This is the only automatic skimmer I have. My other pool cleaners work to clean the bottom of the pool - and they get stuck a lot. So far the iSkim Ultra has not gotten stuck once. The 9L filter basket is large and holds a good amount of debris. It is easy to remove and empty. The anti-spill design is nice. I have a couple of bottom pool robots that drop items out of their filter baskets when I remove them from the water, so I appreciate the design of the iSkim Ultra's basket. I'm sure my in-ground pool is the cheapest pool the previous owners of my house could have installed. It is an unheated, vinyl-lined, regular ol' chlorinated pool that I have to work diligently on to keep the water maintained. This skimmer has a water clarification system built in. I'm not sure how helpful the clarifier is. I'm sure it doesn't hurt the pool water, but I don't really see a difference. The iSkim Ultra is powered by a solar charged battery, which is great. I have a couple of battery powered bottom pool sweepers that run for 30 minutes or so, get stuck, and just sit there until I remove them with a hook on a pole and put them on a charger. This skimmer is way better than that. My pool has a lot of southern exposure, so it gets plenty of early and mid-day light. The sun charges the 10,000mAh battery allowing it to run up to 24/7. I have not had any issues keeping it charged. I've been letting the iSkim Ultra run a day or two per week for a few hours each day. It has done a good job removing surface debris. While the iSkim is an extremely nice machine and it works well for my pool, my biggest issue with it is its price. It is very expensive for just being an item that saves a few minutes of walking around my pool with a net. This is a luxury item for most people - but, if you've got the money or if you need a robotic skimmer, this is a very nice one.

The media could not be loaded. I would have given 5 stars but I just received two days ago, but so far a 5 star rating. Unit even picks up the fine debris and closes door when it turns so that the debris does not come out. Simply genius. I recommend this skimmer so far. Will update in a month. Update: Updating from 4 stars to 5 stars, had unit a few months now and it works as described, totally recommend.
