  • Great Value Automatic Vacuum!
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
Purchased this vacuum back in the spring of 2021 and it has been an absolutely awesome product! I was weary based on the price point ($169) back then, and the fact that some of the reviews weren't great. If I had to guess, the people writing those reviews didn't know how to use the vacuum properly. First of all, the vacuum will not necessarily help with cloudiness in your pool. The vacuum operates off of the outlet hose from your pump/filter, not the suction inlets like you would think. The vacuum has a screen on the inside that catches the majority of debris in the pool, but will not get rid of calcium or floc as it will just go through the screen. As long as you keep your filter clean and the internal screen clean, this product will work phenomenal and walk right up the walls of your pool. It has very good suction and operates off of a mechanical gearset that doesn't require any electronics or human input, just the input from your pump. It does a great job of picking up leaves, sand, bugs, etc, and it does a great job of scrubbing the waterline of your pool to get rid of the waterline spots. After a few uses, the suction became very weak and I thought that the product was bad. It turns out, there is a very small screen at the outlet where the hose connects to the pump that will get clogged up with small amounts of sand that pass through your filter. If you take the hose off and clean this filter every other time, it will keep your vacuum running strong, and it will keep the sand out of the gearset inside the vacuum. The vacuum operates off of what I assume is a timed reverse trigger that will automatically make the vacuum go in the opposite direction after so many revolutions of the wheels. This way, the vacuum is always making random passes and does a very good job at covering the entire pool and not getting stuck in certain areas. It will float at the waterline on the wall for around 30 seconds, and then reverse and go the other way. I used this vacuum every day of the season last year and it did an wonderful job in our 18' above ground pool. I never once had to get out the manual vacuum other than to get rid of calcium/floc after a clarifier treatment. We run a 2,100 GPM pump/sand filter, and it is plenty powerful for the vacuum. If you keep your pump filter clean, the screen in the vacuum clean, and the outlet sand screen clean regularly, this will be a huge time saver for you and a great, inexpensive way to get an automated pool vacuum that will do a great job at keeping your pool free of debris on the walls and bottom. PS, we named ours Wallie! ... show more

  • For a while it was great
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
Worked very well for a while, it did exactly what it designed to do, until the wheel broke off! One of the 4 drive wheels snapped off at the unit frame. No one had messed with it nor was it dropped or stepped on. I found the wheel at the bottom of the pool as the unit was trying to move up the side of the pool but it was just going to the top and could not crawl down. It lasted only a few weeks. Update: I ran a stainless steel bolt through the broken wheel mount bracket and we are back in business!!! Next to the crawling out of the pool, I think it was designed for freshwater not saltwater, the two blue weight compensators (balls), located inside the unit are two buoyant so I add some stainless steel weights to each side where the OEM weights are lowering it’s static ability to float, after some trial and error and 4 ounces on each side it can crawl up to and then back down from the edge of the water without getting stuck at the top!!!! Since I had to do the R n D and the math to compensate for the amount of lift, I am only giving it 4 stars. I WOULD still buy it, and now it does work very well. If you have a saltwater pool, add the weights to it you will be much happier. Another update Now the reverse drive gear mount broke at the small bearing. Great idea great design poor production. Higher quality components in the drive system would make it one of the best units available. To the manufacturer, spend a few cents more and convert the plastic drive to stainless. Note the extra weight would not have effected the eccentric drive gear, it is isolated from the gear train. If I weren't having a good time fabricating the parts, I'd throw it away. If you're not into fabricating broken parts or don't have a machine shop, I would keep looking. ... show more

  • Economic option, Great Results!!! Economic option, Great Results!!!
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
I have been using the old Intex version of this vacuum until it broke, And besides not having excellent reviews, I decided to try for my preview experience. And still the best decision! Most automatic above-ground pool vacuum requires a better pool filter with a high flow rate, mine is an INTEX QX2600 Krystal Clear Filter Pump with a glass media filter which has been my favorite since I switched from sand to glass. The vacuum picks up every small and big debris leaving the pool clear of anything, it is easier to clean and carry than the last model, and it walks around the pool because the hose does not tangle, (my pool is a round 52H x 24) and it climbs the vinyl walls easily up to the top. The brushes are softer than I expected but they do the job. I did not place the small filter on the converter since that will not make it work better and it does not need it. It is a little slower, (I mean about 3 hours for the whole pool) but I don't mind because it makes my work better than me! Overall, It is an excellent product that does the work leaving the pool sparkle clean and your pocket happy! My experience is very positive I do recommend it!!! ... show more

  • Used for inground pool with its own timer, best value for scrub wall climbing vacuum Used for inground pool with its own timer, best value for scrub wall climbing vacuum
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
I used this for an inground pool. What attracted me to this is how it was made and the ability to climb the walls. It claims it is 4-wheel drive. This should be using the Jet water coming from your pump to your pool return for Above Ground pool. But, I figured the design is using the pressure of water going to the robot; I can attach this to a Pond pump and set the pond pump on a timer. So it will automatically turn on when I set up the outlet timer. And it was interesting if it could also climb walls; from the users with above-ground pool videos, it worked for them, so I gave it a try. It needs to have a GPH rating of about 3500 to get this to move. The white hose that came with it is about 1 1/4 OD/ID. So it fits the attachments that usually come with a pond pump. So, I purchased the first saltwater pond pump (the same one used for large koi ponds) with a rating of about 3500 GPH. I have a Saltwater pool. not to large, just normal shape, about 16,000 gals, and the deep end is 7 feet. Attached is the white hose to it with a stainless steel hose clamp. Using the pond pump screw-on adapters, it fits pretty snugly. I used a large pond pump fine mesh bag, I actually purchased a few of them to make sure it would fit. It should be a Fine Mesh since I did not want particles to go to the pump and slow down its GPH to the vacuum. I attached it to a weight and used a bungee cord to do a test. Well, it WORKED! good enough anyway. Confirmed, it works with a pond pump, and it does climb the walls of my pool, not up to the water line. The brushes and 4-wheel drive mechanism work to do a light scrub on the floor and about 80% up the wall before it comes down in reverse. It will also go sideways on the wall. So the benefit of this are: +Cheap for a scrubbing pool vacuum, it keeps the slime buildup to the floor and to the walls. Cost of this vacuum + salt water pond pump from amazon is about 200 bucks since I purchase this with my prime membership discount. + I purchased a Salt Water Pond Pump that is made to stay on for a large pond. So I can just keep it on the side in the pool. I picked those that gave it great reviews and ran for 2+ years continues, the cost was like 80 Bucks. + Put on a Timer, I used an outlet timer that I can set when it will turn on and how long. I have this one every few hours, like 2 hours straight. This keeps the pool water moving and scrubs the pool floor and 80% up the walls. VS. and $800+ robotic pool vacuum that does climb walls, and 4 whee-drives most in this price range don't have a schedule set, you need to turn it on and let it run. Come back and turn it on each day. Because of all the above, I didn't need to keep running my poop pump during peak energy times 1pm- 7 pm, costing so much. I also had a separate DIY water aerator fountain running during the hot days in Texas also to keep water moving and keep the water 10 degrees cooler. And early mornings and late nights is when my actual pool pumps runs to filter the water, cost less not during peak hours. Negative. Does not pick up large items. like leaves more than 3 inches wide or long. The brushes on both ends, though are made of fine nylon paint brushes type, I am not sure how long it will last, but the manufacturer has replacement parts. Vacuum is not the best at vacuuming like the $800 true robotic vacuums, but this isn't $800 bucks. Adn those Vacuums cost more when parts go out since it is very complicated. So I have two other robotic pool vacuums as back up that can pick up large leaves, but these are not scrubbers and wall climbers, but good enough without costing 800-1500 each. I have had 5 homes with pools and have used them all. Name brands cost up to $1500, and less costly ones in a range of 300-400. And they do a very good job on the vacuum. But I keep my vacuum in the pool and want it to be on a schedule on its own. They all eventually need parts to be replaced or the whole thing to be replaced in 3 years or so. PLUS, NOT USE THE Pool pump that costs more to use energy cost during peak hours during the day. It is best to have a Separate pool cleaner vacuum which you can schedule a time for it to Start and stop, plus brushes for you when you are not using the pool, and keep the water moving. This has solved my needs plus it cost so much less. When your pool pump is not running, your water is not moving thus, it is faster for algae to stick to the walls and grow. But with pool vacuums that rely on a pool pump to run, you are forced to run it to clean it. This method works in all areas, keeps it clean, water moving, and separate from the pool pump, so it can run on its own schedule. ... show more

  • Not as good as I was hoping for.
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
I read reviews upon reviews for so many vaccumes smh. I watched a youtube video for this one and the ease of use is what made me purchase it. I am a first time pool owner this summer (my God it's expensive!) I wanted a no hassle vaccum. This appeared to be easy to set up, which it was, and then it does all the work. Which it does not lol. It was simple enough to put together very "plug n play" but I had to babysit it. I was literally out there every 15 minutes to check on it because it would stop. It would be sitting in the bottom of my pool running but going nowhere. It couldn't seem to get traction and it stopped constantly or it's wheels would be running and it would be going nowhere. It also favored one side of the pool. After 2hrs I wanted to leave a bad review and send it back but I stopped myself and said, "Just let it do it's thing for a full 8hrs of cleaning/filtering cycle." I'm glad I did, it did pick up a lot silt, it also left behind a lot 60/40 if we're being very honest. It also left a lot of leaves- but to it's credit, the reviewers SAID SEVERAL times and so did the directions to take off the brushes if you have a lot of leaves, well I didn't have a lot. I have no trees in my yard so I thought the "few" that were in there would get swept up. Nope. (sigh) I want to like it because the hose doesn't get tangled, it's pleasant to look at (lol), and very easy to use. However, I had to fork out $250.00 additional dollars for a handheld Volt XL8 to finish the job and that's WAAAAY more money than I wanted to spend on a vaccum(s). This one, the Intex vaccum cost me 120.00 w/taxes here on Amazon and said it was 80% off! No way I would of paid 200.00 for this thing! I am pretty sure this is going back, I may exchange it for the same one as it gave me the option to have another one shipped to me if I returned this one. I want to use it one more time and see if I have the same problems before I opt for another one. If I'm gonna have the same issues - I'll get my money back, as the Volt XL8 works very well. ... show more

  • Loving It! Loving It!
Size: 1600-3500 gal/h Pump Flow Rate Required Style: ZX300 Color: ZX300
So the most important thing to know is this vacuum doesn’t connect to the water outlet/where the water leaves your pull and goes into the filter—it doesn’t use suction to clean your pool. It needs to be connected to the return, where the water flows back into the pool after going through the filter. This sounds counterintuitive for a vacuum, but the water pressure forces debris into the receptacle. Keep in mind that running it for long periods of time could cause the pressure in your filter/pump to increase—you might need to backwash and rinse again after using this (depending on how dirty or cloudy your pool is). We also backwash and rinse before using it. It is very easy to connect and easy to empty. We’ve been struggling with cloudy water because of an algae outbreak, and even though it’s no longer green and testing shows the chemicals are balanced, it’s been difficult to clear. This little vacuum is doing a really great job getting rid of the leftover algae debris. We’ve been using it a couple of times a day and it’s already made a big difference in the clarity of the water. We chose this instead of an automatic robotic vacuum because this doesn’t have any electrical components to mess with—no charging, no batteries, nothing like that to worry about or to risk breaking. We have a rechargeable handheld Intex vacuum as well, but it worked for one summer and we haven’t been able to use it again. The price of this vacuum wasn’t much more than the handheld and this one does a much better job than the handheld too! As long as you pay attention to how to use this properly, you should have great results! ... show more
