I got this Polaris to replace my old Polaris that just was too old to fix. The package came with everything I need in order to just put it into pool and let it do the wonderful work it always does. The pack came with the Polaris itself and a new hose. The hose comes with a pressure tester to make sure all is in order and the documentation helps you to determine if the robot is working in the right speed (by looking at the speed of the wheel), in the pack you have also a new wall outlet and a new thing for me was a cover for the outlet for times when the Polaris is not attached, It acts as another pool water outlet (with several hole sizes), so it can change the outlet to a jet stream outlet, and of course a new collection bag. All in all installation took me 5 minutes with adjusting the length of the hose and testing that all is in order, my old Polaris stopped working about a month ago and the bottom of my pool had some dirt in it from recent winds and some leaves, by the next day the pool floor was 80% better and cleaner, last weekend I cleaned the collection bag and for the first time, using Polaris recommendation I didn't just empty the bag but let it dry (now I have 2 bags old and new), so clean up of the bag was super easy and the robot was working seconds after the replacement. After only 2/3 days the pool is spotless and clear again. I love this product!!!! Lots of my friends have the suction robots and they don't even come close, most of my friends had to add electric sweepers to get the level of clean I get using only this product. It climes the pool walls great and for the most part cleans every inch of the pool. This product does not require a its own pump, and can be connected to the pool system 24/7 365 days (I am just taking it out when we are in the pool). If your system can support this product use it!!! You will not regret it. the only point to know is that this product is not great with the pool stairs, but I have not heard of any that are! Once in a while I just manually take the Polaris and place it on the top stair (out of 3) and it just does the rest. My old one hold up about 10 years or more (I am not sure if not longer as I got it with the house and the previous owner got it with the house as well), yes from time to time the belt needs to be replaced and sometime a seal need to be replaced but all in all I found it to be a very reliant product!!! Oh and as for the price...i checked a lot of local (DALLAS TX)stores and the avarge at stores was higher, looking at new Polaris at Ebay did not give me better deals. amazon was the best offer I could ask for

Just got the Polaris today and hooked it up. No real hassles. My pool is a lazy L built in that is about 20 x 40. I have four return jets and can isolate them in pairs. I installed one of the small eyeball jets and closed off the other set with the valve, hooked up the quick disconnect to the othe jet that s near the center of the pool. The hose turned out to be the right length right out of the box... Lucky! Checked the RPMs and they were right about 27 to 28 so I just started using it. There was some algae in the pool (just got back from vacation) and the Polaris was effective at picking of the debris but the normal bag was letting too much out. I decided to just vacuum the pool the old fashion way to just get it closer to clean. I ordered a silt bag which others said was a must but it was at the post office with all my other stopped mail. I'll get that tomorrow. After the normal vacuum I started up the Polaris again and just let it go. It travels around the pool in a random manner. Whoever said it has the same pattern must be nuts. Every 3 and 1/2 minutes the back flush valve works to pull the entire thing backwards. There is no way it lands in the same spot. It does get stuck in a corner but when it back flushes it gets itself unstuck. The whipping tail seems to do a great job of getting in all the corners and seams of the pool. My pool does not have smooth rounded corners so climbing is not perfect. However, after watching it for a while there are times it does climb part way up the walls. The tail does get everywhere I want it to get so I don't think the climbing to the surface will be an issue. The one thing I can tell already is that this thing will get the water stirred up and I suspect this will be a huge improvement for my pool cleanliness. One small thing I need to figure out though is the small eyeball jet kind of squeals and it is annoying. I think I will try to drill the hole out a little larger like someone else said. I'll follow up on my post in a few days to see how things work out. So far.... I like it. Update on 8/18/12 After a week I can say this thing does everything I need it to do. Is put the silt bag on and it does a better job of catching all the small debris in the pool. I can't believe how much is in the bag when the pool looked clean when I start the filter. My wife said she has had to untangle the thing once or twice but I have yet to see this. I haven't had to vacuum the pool manually at all, which is the primary reason you purchase one of these. I did replace some of the eyeballs with smaller ones and drilled another to a slighty larger size so I get the proper flow and don't have to mess with closing off valves. The pool is clean and ready to use whenever we want to use it. It doesn't climb the walls as well as I like but I simple have to brush a couple of spots. I did this tonight and it took about 60 seconds. I can live with that. I stil give it 5 stars for the price.

I’m editing this review many years later to give an update and drop the rating to one star. I’d bought this unit upon moving in to a home with a pool. I had put a brand new pool liner in and this thing basically ruined it. I used it as directed and my pool was otherwise kept clean with everything pretty well balanced. Ultimately, I used this unit for the first three years in the pool, and I ended up with nine pinhole leaks in the liner. No one could figure out why the expensive high quality liner was leaking so frequently. That was 5 years ago. I stopped using this machine at that point and I have not had one single leak in the 5 years since.. Three leaks a year while using this thing and then none at all for 5 years after stopping. I don’t think I need to say any more than that. Here is my original review: I am a new pool owner and didn't want to spend time vacuuming. My property is surrounded by deciduous trees, some of which are very close to the pool, so there's a constant battle with leaves. Hence, I sought out a cleaner to help with maintenance. This model received good reviews and I like the fact that it's a pressure side unit that doesn't need a booster pump. Setup was a bit confusing, since I'm new to this, and I was caught off guard by the need to test pressure and count the wheel rpm. Not a big deal once I'd watched some YouTube videos, but unfortunately the documentation that comes in the box is oversimplified to the point that it's hard to follow. Which is where my only complaint began - with the documentation. The instructions walk you through checking the length of the supplied hose, and instruct you to cut it if it is too long. Fine, that makes sense. But mine was too short. The instructions direct you to contact customer service if that is the case, there is no indication as to what you're actually supposed to do. Well, let's just say that's pretty much impossible. Literally. The vendor's website has a chat feature with hours of operation - I tried to use that at least 20 or 30 times over 3 days, and each time I got a message that there were no agents online. My second attempt was the provided phone number. Again, no one available after many attempted calls - although one time I did get a message that there would be a wait time of 48 minutes, which is not acceptable. Finally, I tried email - and after several attempts, again I received zero response. This was extremely frustrating, given that their documentation directed me to contact them, and at this point I had wasted a week with a unit I was unable to use. Eventually I did some googling and found parts diagrams on the internet, after which I ordered a hose section, new jam nuts, and an additional swivel fitting. I was then able to splice the new length into the hose and get the additional 4 feet I needed to pass the length test mentioned in the instructions. This set me back maybe $50 but at least now I can use the thing. Although, I'm not actually sure if making the hose longer in this way was actually the "right" thing to do. In terms of the actual function of the cleaner - it works fine. I've now been able to use it for about a month, and typically I drop it in for a few hours three or four times a week, and the bottom of the pool is kept clean. Emptying the filter bag is a bit of a messy hassle but I can't really see how that could be avoided so I don't hold that against the product. It does a good job at picking up leaves and debris but also fine sand. The kids sometimes leave their diving toys or nose plugs in the pool and it sucks those up without a problem - I was worried that these objects might somehow jam in the unit but it hasn't been an issue. This is convenient because it means I don't have to go fish this stuff out before cleaning, I just retrieve these things from the bag after it's done. I will report back and update this review once I've had a chance to get through a few more months of use. But for now, my recommendation would be to proceed with caution if you want any cleaner from this brand, given the completely non-existent nature of their customer support. The cleaner deserves 4 or 5 stars but the fact that you spend this much on a consumer product and then get ZERO help actually using it is unacceptable and drags my rating down to three stars. I don't complain when I can't get ahold of customer support for disposable or cheap off brand stuff, but that kind of misstep from a major brand is hard to ignore.

Got this to replace the old Ray-Vac which isn't manufactured anymore unfortunately BUT ANYWAYS- The Polaris 360 works well overall ALTHOUGH the reversing device in the hose could be more powerful to get it out of the corner near the stairs. I have more than ample pressure too because I have a DEDICATED LINE in the pool for a cleaner. I'm thinking of ordering just that particular part to see if it will work better. The thing about this pool cleaner is that it has a bunch of MOVING PARTS which over time will wear out versus my old cleaner which had about ZERO moving parts. We shall see. Another thing is that the owners manual could be better written- more descriptive, especially when it comes to adjusting the rear driving jet. One last thing is that the bag could be improved by getting rid of the Velcro closure and having a plastic zipper or something else because as you are emptying the bag, the Velcro keeps wanting to close back up as you are dumping leaves and dirt out. I'm still glad to have found this replacement cleaner and it was recommended by others as well. UPDATE Still having an issue with it getting cornered by the pool stairs and it stays there sometimes during the whole cleaning cycle. It seems like the reversing valve isn't strong enough to pull it out of there. I've replaced the valve (bought a replacement), taken it apart to make sure there's no foreign object blocking flow, moved the floats around to different positions on the hose, turned it around to different positions, adjusted pressure---UGH!.....I'm lost. Meanwhile, I've got the cleanest pool stairs in America. The cleaner itself is great when it's free- it boogies right along fast and furious and does an EXCELLENT job cleaning. It has lots of power to the wheels and pretty most anything it runs over gets blown into the collector bag. Guess I'll just keep experimenting.... OK-----SECOND UPDATE (5/20/17) I have found that keeping the best performance for this cleaner is to keep the hose inlet screen clean, keep the collection bag empty, and make sure the sliding float on the back hasn't slid close back to the body of the cleaner. I have the rear jet adjusted all the way over towards the right and down. These factors seem to help it to REVERSE out of the stairs and other situations. It's taken some patience to discover the best operating procedure for this cleaner in my pool....some people might have returned it already!! I believe a better design would have the wheels reverse direction as well as the inline reversing jet kick in when it comes time to reverse direction. (NEW UPDATE 7/10/25) Ok---I ponied up for my THIRD Polaris 360. The thing about this pool cleaner is that the parts are readily available BUT----when you start totaling up the time and money for those parts, it's just cheaper and quicker to get a whole new piece of equipment. And now that I know how to dial this in to work for my pool, its even better. Another good thing is this particular model works WITHOUT having to add a booster pump for more pressure, truly a win for clean pools. :)

Ok let me give everyone the scoop on the POLARIS 360: 1. Let me start by saying the product is awesome, performs perfectly. I had a "stingray" - when that wore out, I bought a Clean Machine from Costco. That lasted about 5 years, broke, Costco took it back (love Costco). 2. This product is for Pressure side cleaners. This means that you have a fitting in the side of your pool that squirts water INTO the pool. YOU DO NOT NEED AN EXTRA PUMP FOR THE POLARIS 360. 3. In shopping for this product, I went to Leslie Pools and asked for inputs. They showed me all the electric cleaners (really expensive), and the pool sweeps that required an extra pump (also expensive). When I told them I thought I needed a pressure side sweep, they acted confused and told me I needed an extra pump installed. Finally I found the Polaris 360, hidden around the corner, on the bottom shelf, and asked if that would work for my pressure side pool. They finally said yes. I did not by the 360 at Leslie, it was $200 more than what I paid on Amazon. 4. The product comes with the correct fitting so that you can mount the hose in the side of your pool. Simple exercise to replace the fitting, takes you 10 minutes. You may need a big C plier to take the old one off - but this is very easy. 5. When you install your sweep, it may take some minor adjustments - the instruction book is very clear. You will have no trouble. 6. I leave mine in the pool unless we are swimming, then I take it out. 7. This product does an excellent job of cleaning out big leaves, dirt, rocks, everything. 8. The pool bag that comes with it has velcro, it works just fine. If you want extra bags, make sure you get the ones that have the small stitching up the inside of the bag to create a space for the debris. I bought 2 extra bags for $20. You can get them cheaper, but they don't have the stitching you need to collect and keep the debris. 9. This product was ~$450...much cheaper than the other options. The materials are excellent, and replacement parts are easy to get. Enjoy this Pool Sweep. Great product.

I was very tired of getting out the hose and vacuum head twice a week to clean the crap off the bottom of the pool. Our pool was not built with a booster pump in mind, so this pressure side cleaner, henceforth referred to as the "monster", was the perfect choice. Our pump is a 1HP so I had to use the restriction eyeball to provide enough pressure to run the cleaner. After that it was a matter of getting the jet on the back adjusted properly, which required a bit of trial and error. Initially I had the hose mounted to the return in the shallow end, but the monster kept getting stuck on it while riding vertically along the wall. Moving the hose to the deep end return solved that problem. We also had a floating frog chlorinator tethered to the wall with a string and the monster found that string and promptly wrapped it up around its wheels. It also would get stuck on both of the ladders (our pool doesn't have steps) and even the auto-reversing function wouldn't free it, so when the monster is going we have to keep the ladders out. Overall it was a great purchase and I don't see how anyone can go without one of these monsters! A few things I've learned from using this: If you have a lot of debris on the bottom of the pool, scoop it out with a net first, the bag cannot hold a lot of debris and you'll be reeling it in to clean out that bag every 5 minutes. Clean out the bag regularly. If it gets too full of junk the monster will just roll around in circles on its side. It will keep the sides and bottom scrubbed clean of algae, a nice bonus. It helps greatly with dispersing chemicals and keeps powder shock from settling on the bottom and bleaching your liner. Make sure the hose is the right length; too short and it won't clean everything, too long and it will get tangled up. Get some extra wear parts to keep around. I recommend: Buy an extra hose section just in case, a replacement screen for the quick connect fitting (you WILL lose it eventually), an extra bag so you can swap in a clean one while the other one is being cleaned (they are much easier to clean after drying out), and a pack of tail scrubbers, you will get about a month out of each one.

This is my 3rd Polaris 360 in 32 years! You might scratch your head and ask "why is this guy rating this unit 5-stars if it's his 3rd one"? Truth is I'd rate it a 4.8, the Polaris 360 was the unit of choice of the pool builder based upon the size of my pool (15X30; depth 3.5 to 6ft), and we loved it from the start. This Polaris model might not be suited for a pool sized 20X40, but it works perfectly for us. I attribute the need for requiring a periodic replacement to normal wear and tear of the unit so I'm not detracting the .2 stars for that. I love the Polaris 360 because it runs on pure waterflow from a centrally located return line which means it doesn't require an electric booster pump in order to operate. It covers the entire pool and even climbs up the walls on its own in the deep end of the pool. The scrubbing tail moves particle debris just enough to allow for the main drain filtration to remove these particles from the pool while sucking up the larger particles and debris (leaves, dead worms, etc.) into the bag. I do prefer the replacement bag that uses "zipper technology" over the Velcro bag closure utilized in the original bag hence the minus .2 stars. Lastly, a one to one replacement required ZERO effort. Detached the old one and attached the new one. Simple!

I live in Texas and don't close my pool up for the Winter, the Polaris 360 runs 365 days a year for about 10 hours a day. I just installed my "2nd" Polaris 360 because I've reached the point where the previous 360 is in need of yearly significant maintenance ($100 or more). I am at the point after 10 years that my previous 360 needed a new body, a factory rebuild kit, and hose wall connection. When I considered the cost of those parts alone, I have over 1/2 the cost of a new one and the new one comes with a new bag + pressure hose + back up value etc. When I considered looking forward over the next few years, I'd have to add other parts, I figured the "sum of the whole was less than the sum of the parts." Now some more comments. I also have been a previous owner of Polaris 280 sweep that used a booster pump. They clearly work better, but you have now added another expensive item, the booster pump, that adds expense by having another electrical hog running and will eventually need repair work. This is why I didn't choose a booster pump driven sweep on my 2nd pool. I am also a owner of a Aquabot Turbo that I used about 8 times a year because it takes more attention. It is effective in picking up items, so after every 6-8 hour run I find I must pull it out of the pool and clean the bag. The Polaris will run for 1/2 a week without requiring attention to the bag (but it's not as effective). I also have found if I don't take the Aguabot out of the pool and allow the cord to "dry out" the cord tends to be more likely to be tangled up in the rollers on the Aguabot (I think the foam might get water logged but this is based on my experience) I use it mostly in the Spring to help prepare my pool for the swimming season It does a good job at just over the 2x the expense of a Polaris 360. And if the bag is kept fairly clean, it will climb and scrub right up to the coping (yes, partially out of the water). So why a 360? It does a decent job of keeping the water sediment stirred up for the filtration system to remove and vacuuming the items like sand, stones, sticks and leaves off the pool bottom. It does have a hard time climbing walls, and thus I've never had success with it climbing the stairs or very far up the walls. Little to no added electrical cost is a plus for me. The down side is of course the parts as they wear out. Locally the pool supply stores provide the labor for free if you buy the parts (Leslie's is one example). I learned that when the feed hose starts to go, you can just repair the failed section, but you are likely going to discover over the course of the season that each section starts failing, so to remove frustration, I'd suggest replacing the hose at once. So over 10 years, I did one factory rebuild kit in the 5th year, probably 1 bag a year, 3 to 4 tail sweep scrubbers every year, about 8 tail wear rings, 1 back up valve in year 9, a new feeder hose with swivels at year 6 and a few other miscellaneous parts. Last season I noticed the neck on my 360 had lost a piece where the bag clips on, so if I wanted to "repair" it was about $60 for a new body. I do notice that when kids swim, they rarely remove it from the pool and thus are often tempted to stand on it. Understanding that this pool sweep is sitting in chemically treated water and running 10 hours each day, it's bound to wear out and need maintenance. I think if your expectations keep this in mind, you'd probably be happy with it. So it's not perfect, but for me, the cost is reasonable to the benefit of not having to vacuum the pool or tend to the pool sweep as often. My summary is that it wasn't until the 4th season I started seeing maintenance becoming more than just replacing items that are expected and meant to wear out like the tail scrubber, silt bags, wear rings, etc.
