  • It does a fantastic job, even if you need to repair pieces every couple of years
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
I've had this pressure-side pool cleaner since 2019, and I'm constantly impressed by how well it does. I was nervous to spend so much money for it 4 years ago, but it has proven itself to be worth every penny. The setup wasn't too difficult, although I remember having to monitor it a lot the first few days to make sure it was working appropriately. Nowadays, I leave it in the pool 99% of the time (I take it out when we have people over to swim), and I empty the bag once every 1-2 weeks in the summer (sometimes multiple times a day in the fall). I have needed to replace pieces from time to time, which hasn't been too bad (and most of the pieces can be found for cheap on Amazon). In the time I've owned it, I've had to replace the black mesh tail scrubber every few months (which is expected), the zipper bag once because it had a hole in it (I'm about due for another one probably by the end of this year), the backup valve on the line once, the connector assembly once (I pulled too hard on the line and it broke off from the wall), and the swing axle once when I noticed a piece had broken off inside the zipper bag. I don't blame the engineering or fabrication of this cleaner for needing to replace these pieces-- I feel like leaving a cleaner in chlorinated water for months at a time is bound to have some pieces stop functioning properly from time to time. With all that being said, my pool is always clean (no leaves or other muck on the bottom), and this cleaner has saved me many thousands of dollars that I would have otherwise spent on having a pool cleaning company clean the pool every 2 weeks. ... show more

  • It works!
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
I had one for 5-7 years and loved it. I was quite surprised at the increase in price but still it was the best value. The dirt and leaves don’t go into the filtration system.

  • You can't go wrong with Polaris!!
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
I have had this model and it has lasted 10 years, although I have done extensive part replacement and rebuild, I was totally satisfied with it. One point to stress: follow the directions. especially the measurement and cutting of the hose. I discovered that our first one was just thrown in the pool by the installers and that lead to a lot of entangled runs!! ... show more

  • Broken rear wheel axil
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
Poor shipping package. Received first unit in a box that was pristine - no damage. However, when the Polaris 280 pool cleaner was unpacked by sliding out the internal packing, the wheel axil was already broken. Sent it back and ordered a second unit. Again, box was in fine shape - no visible damage. BUT when the unit was lowered into the water after setup, the rear wheel fell off, the axil was broken. I scavenged the axil off the 280 I was replacing, to put it in service. This appears to be a material design and packaging deficiency and a regular problem. The axils are readily available as a repair part so one has to assume it's a regular issue that needs to be addressed. I like the unit as it is priced better and does a yeoman's job of cleaning. It can be put into the pool and left unattended. Easy to clean out what it collects. The reason for the lower rating is the annoyance of the broken axil. I have ordered 2 spare axils just in case though these look they are made out of better material. ... show more

  • Great at cleaning my 18 X 50 foot pool
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
So far this product is working as advertised quietly suctioning out my pools. If it lasts as long as my last one (11+ years), it will be well worth it

  • 1/4 inches high. I cleaner that will go over it without a problem or without getting stuck.
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
I had a Polaris cleaner before and they work great for my pool was resurfaced. It had a flat drain and the last one had no problem climb in the walls although I find that the suction bags don’t pick up as much of the small debris as I would like.

  • Purchased Polaris 360 and eliminated my pressure pump. Eliminated 10 amps of power use.
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
I swore I would never buy Polaris again. Been through two Polaris 280 model. The supply line on the 280 would never soften up to allow the unit to reach the whole pool. Yes, in Texas, in July with very warm water. The hose still was not flexible enough. Constant need of new tires. Even with the stiff supply hose the unit did do a Great job cleaning the pool. I decided in order to save power I eliminated the pressure pump to save approximately 10 amps. That’s substantial. I bought the Polaris 360 which doesn’t need a separate pressure pump. Being a licensed HVAC contractor I know a lot about pressure and plumbing ect. I did not eliminate the standard return jets in order to get enough water and pressure to the hook up to the Polaris 360. I modified my plumbing and can turn a valve and give the 360 all the water it needs. While allowing plenty of water to circulate to the stock water return jets. I have to be careful that I don’t give the 360 too much water. Now : opinion of the Polaris 360. The larger diameter supply hose is thin and cheap. It’s ridiculously thin. And the way Polaris connects its fittings to the hose is kindergarten technology. Reverse thread and two of the pre installed swivels leaked. Had to order new swivels. Three to a bag. And one of those is leaking. Incredibly cheaply made. I have used a superior quality vinyl electrical tape to go over and help secure the hose to the swivels. But where the swivels, swivel, you can’t tape there. And they leak there. 8 bucks a swivel with a over 25% failure rate out of the package. AND. A week after installing the 360 I noticed the unit on its side. Cruising on the bottom sideways. I knew that meant a bad float. But at one week ?!! Sure enough the unit mounted float was half full of water. It too is made of very thin plastic. Unbelievable !!! I drilled a very small hole in it to get the water out. Then temporarily taped up my new hole and the seam of the float. My thoughts. I would have easily paid 100 bucks more to have a quality supply hose and float. I have yet to know what cheap material is inside the unit. Note : this Polaris only cost 425 dollars on Amazon. Brick and mortar stores want about 300 dollars more. Just plan on spending another hundred dollars to get your 360 in good working order What I very much like about the 360 vs the 280. The 360 has 3 jets forcing debris into the collection bag. 280 only has 2. And remember on the 280 you must have a separate pressure pump. The collection bag on the 360. It mounts horribly ! I’ve had to tape it on too. It does not connect the same way that the 280 does. Honestly I think the engineers had to work hard to make such a terrible connection. It’s really hard to believe how bad the connection is. Every time I empty the bag I run high quality vinyl tape around the bag connection to make sure it stays on. To engineers and people that know about pools I’m sure your thinking I am running too much pressure to the unit. Blowing the connectors. Well I have a gauge on the cartridge filter of course and tapped and threaded the 2 inch pipe at the outlet pipe. I’ve tuned the 360 using the lowest volume and pressure just enough to make it work. I have always paid extra for quality. I’m sure there is no premium supply hose for the 360. But the swivels are so thin they are going to leak. The bag connection design to the 360 gets a F ! When all is corrected it works great ! I do not want a robot cleaner. The Polaris 360 is cleaning the pool anytime your main pump is on. Saving 10 amps is comparable to the cost to run a 2 1/2 ton air-conditioning unit. That’s quite a savings. If you aren’t very handy and don’t know much about how water flows ect. Get a Polaris with a separate pressure pump. It’s easier. No balance problems with the water. Also in order to use my spa I now have a extra valve I have to shut to isolate the spa. No big deal. Only get the 360 if you like to work on pools and have knowledge in water volume and pressure. I still am glad I eliminated my pressure pump and got the 360. But it causes some irritating moments. ... show more

  • POLARIS 360
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
Good product but you have to check the unit before you put it to work. The first unit that I ordered from a different vendor the leaf bag will not fit and lock into the body, and I had to return the unit. Zodiac Polaris is a good company and their products last a long time.
