Wonderful!
Much better than the previous Polaris pool bottom cleaner. We live in Dallas and have 10 trees around the property and privacy screens from prying neighbors and lush landscaping. Every month there is new debris that gets into the pool. Leaves that fall depending on the season, pollen, crepe Myrtle berries, oak tree germination deposits, summer bugs, etc. We got a variable pump to filter the water so the debris stays in the skimmers, but there is still some debris that falls to the bottom of the pool. The pebbled surface of the pool lasts longer than traditional plaster, but it does allow for debris to get trapped between the pebbled surface. The family that designed and built the house were really pros. One of the design particulars was that the pool is positioned so it gets morning, afternoon and evening sun, making it an enjoyable sunny pool experience. The flip side is that in the summer the debris that didn’t get picked up by the previous Polaris machine, decomposed and caused algae to grow, especially during the hot Texas summers and was a menace to get rid of. Last year we had to drain and fill the pool the algae was so out of control. We had to get a better system due to the day-long desired exposure to sunlight the pool was designed for because the debris left over created algae. Once out of control, it was nearly impossible to eliminate. We spent a fortune on chemicals and it had to be monitored constantly. When we’re on an extended vacation and when we returned, the algae had taken over. So we needed a better solution. The new Polaris machine was the answer. Our water is crystal clear now and no extra shock or other chemicals are needed now. Back-washing the filter has much less frequency, more than half reduced. It is a stand alone mechanism not tied to the filter system, which is unfortunate, but it doesn’t need a separate pump and climbs walls and even cleans the tile at the water surface. It also has a programmable daily cycle so it can work while you are gone, but we haven’t tried that yet. It works so well it needs to be emptied more often than the other model we had but that means it is working well. It’s expensive, but so are chemicals or manually cleaning the bottom in addition with the old Polaris machine we were using, so the algae stays away in our rather large 30,000 gallon pool, that has lush landscaping and all-day exposure to the sun. What a relief! Problem solved and I would recommend it even though it is a stand alone mechanism and your Polaris pump will be deemed obsolete. Well worth the extra cost. And the peace of mind it provides is, well, “Priceless”! Problem solved.

Quality. Powerful. Simple. Costly to repair.
Today I received my 3d Polaris 9450sport unit in 7 years but I use it constantly and abuse it. Our pool is surrounded by trees so we keep it in the water almost all season except during swimming and run it twice a day at least. It a highly effective powerful cleaner. We are addicted to a spotless pool now. It’s also great for stirring the water to distribute chemicals. We get about 3.5 seasons from it before a motor fails. The motor block drive train is one component that costs $600 so we never repair them because I’m not convinced something else wouldn’t fail next. We just buy a new one. Our pool supplier says she runs hers 1x per week and has gotten almost a decade. It has a huge basket with a fine strainer and sucks up anything including dead mice. We empty the basket about every ten days. It will suck up and hold sand, worms, dirt, leaves, bugs, mulch and small toys. It’s super easy to empty the basket and the lift feature works great. I love that it cleans the scum at the water line and keeps the walls free of algae. We no longer vacuum our pool ever. This is our sole cleaner and it keeps the pool immaculate. Highly recommend.

Good reviews and Great product name doesn't mean it will last. Do your RESEARCH
Purchased this in November 2021. Worked great at the time. It picked up all leaves and amy silt or other in one hour. It stopped working in less than 24 months. It was showing error 13. Was told bu Polaris customer service that the cable needed to be replaced. I purchased a new cable for $429.00. It didn't make the unit work. I was able to return the cable for a refund Then customer service told me to try another control unit. I purchased one on Ebay for $300.00. The unit still didn't work. I then opened the motor block and found that it was full of rusty water. The motor with the fan appeared to be ok, but the two propulsion motors were completely rusted from pool salt water and were not repairable. Also the motor block circuit board was damaged from the salt water. It was burnt and some parts were falling off. Polaris does not sell the board or motors. you must purchase a new motor block for about $650.00. A new motor block would last about the same time. Too much money has been spent on this product. I did contact Polaris and was told that they only warrent their products for one year, There is a reason for this, they dont last too much longer than a year. This was only used during the summer months, so it has less than a years use. I paid $1201.19 for this product from Amazon. What a piece of Junk and poor customer service. Do not purchase any Polaris Product unless you can purchase an extended warrenty. They do not stand by their product after the warrenty period.

Robot and cord replacement.
This is my second Polaris 9450 sport. It does a great job with acorns and twigs. You should get about 3 years or so with the cord before it needs to be replaced. If it ever needs a new cord don’t attempt to replace yourself and take to a shop. The first time the cord went out, I bought a new one and took it to Leslie pool. Good idea! 3 years later, I thought I needed another new cord, but I believe one of the chains that run the left side wheels came off the shaft and it kept going in circles and I purchased a new cord thinking the cord had gone bad and kept twisting. I attempted to change out the cord myself and it’s a tough job only to find out two wheels were not turning. 6 years and 2 cords later I am a happy camper with this robot. It’s easy to lift and clean when full and so easy to run with it’s 3 hour time auto cutoff and cleans walls and floor or just floor. Good thing is now I have a new cord when this one goes out.

My go-to pool vacuum
I recently purchased my third Polaris Sport. I found that they last about five to six years. They do a decent job of cleaning the sides and bottom of the pool. I like that they have a "lift" feature that brings the vacuum to the waters' edge to easily remove the unit. The filter basket is easy to remove and rinse off. It has a large capacity and is more durable than the vacuum itself. The "tangle-free" feature of the cable is imperfect as the cable forms kinks despite the swivel. The electric contacts within the swivel are also prone to failure. To prolong the life of this vacuum, I am going to remove it from the pool between uses, keep it under a cover in its caddy, and unplug the control box from electric power after each use. (My last Polaris Sport failed two weeks after I replaced the cable. I think that it was due to a power surge during a thunderstorm.)

My Second One
This has changed a little, since I bought my last one three years ago. First thing is that they added an anti-twist swivel to the DC power cord. This does not stop the cord from twisting. but it does help with the un-twisting. It probably make the twists a little less, but we still need to pull the twists out of the cord, but with the swivel, we don't need to detach the cord from the power unit. we simply turn the swivel by hand until the cord is a little less twisted. The second modification is that it ships with a filter that is not as fine as the previous filter. The filter that it ships with is good for leaves and sand, and other not so fine debris. The older filter would catch very fine debris, such as dead algae. I believe that they made this change, because with the really fine filter, the robot would lose power and not climb walls. There were too many reviews complaining about this, so they just made the filter harder to clog up. I like the previous filter, and am using it the newly purchased unit. I will probably never use the new not-so-fine filter. Why did I replace my previous robot after three years? Well the right side of the robot wheels stopped turning. This caused the robot to go in circles and really kink up the DC power cord. I did not know which part to replace - the motors or the control board, so I just bought a new robot. Much of the robot has aged over the three years, especially because i rarely remove it from the pool. Even if I got it to work, some of the other parts were looking a little worn. I am keeping the previous robot for spare parts. By the way, the new robot seems better made. Not sure why, it just seems to be sturdier and better looking. Could be that I am comparing it to my aged robot. This is something men do more often than we want to admit... Right guys?

Polaris vac does the job!
Easy set up very easy to clean.storage Cart and control station makes it easy to store. Suction seams to be very strong compared to my old Aquabot. Reasonably priced.

Doesn’t live up
Bought this almost 4 years ago. Broken again. I have already had to take it somewhere to get it fixed once and my husband has had to make small repairs. The cord is always twisted. Always. And it never worked on the upper tanning ledge area. It vacuums my first stair but not the second or the top which is why I wanted this one. Just a lot of issues for under four years of use on a fairly small pool. Not worth the money
