The 9450 Sport cleans all pool surface types and scrubs the floor, walls, and tile line with a pleated scrubbing brush. This machine has an all-purpose filter canister that has 4 times the capacity of other similar cleaners. That means fewer filter cleanings (up to 70% less), and lower operating costs (pennies per day). By engineering the machine with top access large capacity filter canister, debris can easily be emptied with a simple shake and spray convenience. Never touch debris again! Much better than the previous Polaris pool bottom cleaner. We live in Dallas and have 10 trees around the property and privacy screens from prying neighbors and lush landscaping. Every month there is new debris that gets into the pool. Leaves that fall depending on the season, pollen, crepe Myrtle berries, oak tree germination deposits, summer bugs, etc. We got a variable pump to filter the water so the debris stays in the skimmers, but there is still some debris that falls to the bottom of the pool. The pebbled surface of the pool lasts longer than traditional plaster, but it does allow for debris to get trapped between the pebbled surface. The family that designed and built the house were really pros. One of the design particulars was that the pool is positioned so it gets morning, afternoon and evening sun, making it an enjoyable sunny pool experience. The flip side is that in the summer the debris that didn’t get picked up by the previous Polaris machine, decomposed and caused algae to grow, especially during the hot Texas summers and was a menace to get rid of. Last year we had to drain and fill the pool the algae was so out of control. We had to get a better system due to the day-long desired exposure to sunlight the pool was designed for because the debris left over created algae. Once out of control, it was nearly impossible to eliminate. We spent a fortune on chemicals and it had to be monitored constantly. When we’re on an extended vacation and when we returned, the algae had taken over. So we needed a better solution. The new Polaris machine was the answer. Our water is crystal clear now and no extra shock or other chemicals are needed now. Back-washing the filter has much less frequency, more than half reduced. It is a stand alone mechanism not tied to the filter system, which is unfortunate, but it doesn’t need a separate pump and climbs walls and even cleans the tile at the water surface. It also has a programmable daily cycle so it can work while you are gone, but we haven’t tried that yet. It works so well it needs to be emptied more often than the other model we had but that means it is working well. It’s expensive, but so are chemicals or manually cleaning the bottom in addition with the old Polaris machine we were using, so the algae stays away in our rather large 30,000 gallon pool, that has lush landscaping and all-day exposure to the sun. What a relief! Problem solved and I would recommend it even though it is a stand alone mechanism and your Polaris pump will be deemed obsolete. Well worth the extra cost. And the peace of mind it provides is, well, “Priceless”! Problem solved. ... show more

    • Product is good. Customer Service is non-existent
I've had this product for just over two years. PROS: Great at cleaning the pool (floors and walls of the pool). Very quiet. Set a schedule for it to clean so it's not bothering people while they swim. Can typically clean the whole pool in just one cycle. CONS: The housing fades fairly quick. The cord is not tangle free. It's a pain in the butt. Every few days you need to disconnect and work all of the kinks out so it can run the length of the pool. The programming is fairly simple, but redundant and time consuming. The BIGGEST CON is customer service/support. There is none. There is a phone number for you to call and they'll pretend there's support, but there is no live person to talk to. I've tried every day for weeks. Sometimes they say there is too much of a call log and just hang up. Other days they say wait time is 45 minutes, but then the longer you stay on the phone the longer the wait time becomes. I've let the phone stay on hold for as long as two hours before and still nothing. I've used the "call me back feature" and have never gotten a call back. The product is decent, but for $1k product, I expect to have some customer support when things go south. I do not recommend purchasing this. ... show more

Bought this product in June of 2023 ran good for awhile put started to have error codes pop up. Now once again an error code pop up and does not run at all. Looking at a need cord which runs about $855.00 sweeper cost a thousand dollars. THAT does not make sense.

    • Parts are costly
This is my second one. I needed a part, the floating hose, but they cost more than half the cost of a NEW robot. The control panel cost is just under half the cost. So, I just got a new one. It picks up debris, however, in my pool, 35,000 gallons, it doesn't seem to have a pattern, and it takes several tries to get all the debris in the deep end under the diving board. For me, it is heavy and hard to get out of the pool, even though it has a Lift feature which brings the cleaner up the side. I have to grab with a hook, as I am 73 and it is difficult for me to bend at the knees and grab it. The most vulnerable part is the floating electrical cord that hooks up to the control panel, it is so weak at the panel and easily broken. My original was 3 years old. ... show more

    • Robot and cord replacement.
This is my second Polaris 9450 sport. It does a great job with acorns and twigs. You should get about 3 years or so with the cord before it needs to be replaced. If it ever needs a new cord don’t attempt to replace yourself and take to a shop. The first time the cord went out, I bought a new one and took it to Leslie pool. Good idea! 3 years later, I thought I needed another new cord, but I believe one of the chains that run the left side wheels came off the shaft and it kept going in circles and I purchased a new cord thinking the cord had gone bad and kept twisting. I attempted to change out the cord myself and it’s a tough job only to find out two wheels were not turning. 6 years and 2 cords later I am a happy camper with this robot. It’s easy to lift and clean when full and so easy to run with it’s 3 hour time auto cutoff and cleans walls and floor or just floor. Good thing is now I have a new cord when this one goes out. ... show more
