  • I now have both the 5 Quart, and 12 Quart Pans. They are Awesome
Size: Saute Pan (5-Quart) Color: Stainless Steel
First I bought the 5 Quart Sauté pan, and I was very happy with the quality of the cookware so I went ahead and also bought the 12 quart Stock Pot. The pans are are very high quality, built well, work great, and look amazing. They both conduct heat very well, and I have had no issues with heat retention or hot spots while cooking. I have had zero issues with any metallic taste even when cooking acidic foods. They are both little work horses in the kitchen. The 5 quart is about the perfect size for one pan dinners, and most dishes that you would cook for the family. I use this pan all of the time, it is the goto when I am making most things that need something more than just a Frying Pan. Though it also works well as a frying pan if that's what you want to use it for. The high walls are good at keeping oil, or fats from popping out of the pan. It has the metal lid, which is also oven safe. So you can easily move from the stove top to the oven in one go. The 12 Quart is huge, and great for any stock or soups that you are making. When I was using 6 quarts I had to add water to stock while it was cooking... but the 12 quart I can put everything in and have no fuss about not having enough water in it, or even a problem with it boiling over. Even when cooking down 4 whole sets of chicken bones, with aromatics, and everything for my stock the pot was only at about half full. I also use this pot to boil water and sanitize mason jars in before canning, I can easily get 5-6 jars in at a time. This pot comes with a glass lid so you can see how things are doing and is of high quality. The pans are easy to clean if you are already used to stainless steel cookware. These are NOT non stick so if you don't treat them like they are you will have no problems. Just make sure to use enough cooking fat and nothing will stick and easy clean up. If something does stick, I just let water sit in the pan for a couple hours and everything glides off, or you can boil water in it for a little bit to soften up anything if you don't have the time. Pans might discolor with high heat, this is normal with stainless steel and can be fixed with Bar Keepers friend and a scrubbing pad. You can use dishwasher if you want, but I have found washing pans by hand extends the useable life of all pans. In all I am ecstatic about my Babbish cookware, it has treated me well... and if I treat it well it should last a lifetime. ... show more

  • Superb quality - very versatile
Size: Saute Pan (5-Quart) Color: Stainless Steel
I recommend getting a couple flat-tip, wooden Ikea spoons (RÖRT) for sauces. The pan base is wide and rounded, so having a flat scraper is great for sauteing your Mirepoix but the rounded parts of the spoon can still get into the corners of the pan nicely. Get a canister of barkeeper's friend and a scouring sponge if you have any issues cleaning this. You shouldn't, though, if you rinse it while it's still hot to 'deglaze' the stuck-on bits into the sink. Once I got all that set up in my kitchen, this has been a blast to cook with. I can fry things with less spatter. I can cook proper sauces with actual fond. I don't have to worry about Teflon bits getting into my food. I will say that if you're like me and have only used nonstick coated pans, it takes a bit of getting used to stainless steel. But the aluminum core in the base really heats up the pan fast, even on electric stoves. The whole experience of cooking has just been elevated for me. Thanks, Babish, for getting me out of my comfort zone. Cooking has been a brand new source of joy for me! ... show more

  • Babish 11 inch Saute Pan with Lid
Size: Saute Pan (5-Quart) Color: Stainless Steel
I purchased this 11 inch Saute Pan and 12.5 inch Fry pan. SAUTE PANS HAVE HIGHER SIDES THAT GO STRAIGHT UP NOT flaired. His Fry pan is big 12.5 and has high sides a bit higher than most Fry pans which I appreciate actually his 12.5 inch Fry pan is more like a classic saute pan and his 11 inch Saute pan is well I don't know. The sides are also a bit higher than most classic saute pans which again I Appreciate but not nearly as elegant as say Sardel 5 ply Saute pan from Italia or Demeyere Belgium. Babish pans have really functional handles that don't slip. I'm a professional chef. While these are not part of my high end pans they are very useful because of higher sides on both pans. The 11 inch saute pans sides are a bit high for say saute chicken Marsala or chicken franchise. His 12.5 inch pan would be better. The 11 inch is great for large 1 pot meals that require more liquid. Again, his designs are useful. Also the 11 inch is good for 2 or more large orders of say Fettuccine Alfredo or 2 large orders of Rigatoni Pasta Dishes where a classic Saute or 12 inch fry pan wouldn't hold enough volume. If you don't mind supporting Chinese made products and not requiring 5 or 7 ply/layers and are ok with 3 ply these are a solid choice for right price. THEY WILL LAST A LIFETIME. ARE THEY AN HEIRLOOM QUALITY. NO but if you have a catering or restaurant and are hard on cookware these are for you if you. They are what I call functional beater pans that work well. 4 solid stars. If you want to get 5 ply look into Sardel italia, Made In Italia, Demeyere Belgium, Heritage Eater, Tennessee USA or vintage Bronx NY made Farberware or Vintage Allclad although handles on all clad are too darn skinny for any pan 11 inches or more. Happy cooking. Babish made my top 10 list and the top 3 three ply brand. Enjoy ... show more

  • Exactly what hubby wanted!
Size: Saute Pan (5-Quart) Color: Stainless Steel
Hubby wanted something for cooking a large pot of mixed veggies on the grill….this fit the bill perfectly! The lid keeps the heat in better than aluminum foil and the pot is nice and sturdy for carrying when full!

  • Good product
Size: Saute Pan (5-Quart) Color: Stainless Steel
I wanted a good quality large stainless steel pan that I might use a few times a week but wasn’t ready to shell out hundreds of dollars on an All-Clad, so went with Babish. I don’t want to baby my pan so I use steel utensils on it which does cause scratches but I am fine with that (this is not a negative btw). I haven’t tried it in the oven but it’s a perfectly fine stainless steel pan. I couldn’t exactly master the instructions to “make it nonstick” so if there’s some oil stain or something even after cleaning, I just use some vinegar on it and it looks good as new (just with scratches). ... show more
