I bought this for my son in law. He bought chickens. He works a lot and cannot always monitor them. This was an easy install and it is solar powered or you can set it manually and choose times to open and close the door. He doesn’t have to worry about predators getting to the chickens and loves the quality of this door. It opens and closes as it should. It is as pictured and described. This is a must have for anyone wanting to raise chickens and keep them safe. There will probably be more purchases as everyone seems to be on the bandwagon to have their own eggs, seeing how the prices of eggs have escalated. Would recommend this product. Good quality!

I would not recommend this automatic chicken door. I installed this exactly per the directions, set it for the light sensor and it worked fine for 4 days. Then in the morning, it would not raise. The manual raise control was not responsive; I discovered if I powered it off then on again, I could raise the door with the control panel. It worked for several more days, then it happened again, this time at night (it did not close). I then cycled power and tried setting it to open and close at a specific time. Same pattern, worked for a few days then failed.

Worked great for 3 months and then randomly stopped working. Door ended up stuck shut and could not get it to open again after that. Using the control panel the door would move approximately 1” before closing.

If you want chickens but you also don’t want to deal with the hassle of letting them out every morning at the crack of dawn and putting them away at night, this door is perfect. I can now travel and not have to worry about them or hire someone to take care of them(As long as you have a large feeder and waterer too). Initially I thought it would not work because the chickens would not know when to go inside, but after a few weeks they all go inside, the trick is to have the door close after it visibly changes out side, so like once the sun is almost fully down then have it close. It runs on a timer which is also very easy to set. Another nice feature is how long the wire is for the solar panel. My coop is in a fairly shaded spot, so I was able to put the solar panel on the side that gets sun because of how long the wire is. It has also help up well in the Florida rain and heat. There is also a feature so that your chickens don’t get closed in the door too :)

I bought this unit in August 2025. It was working fine with the solar panel directed towards the sun daily. This Novemeber, it stopped working. The sun is not as high in the sky obviously, but I have another solar unit by another company that still works fine. I will need to purchase another solar door, unfortunately.

This coop door has been a savior for me, no longer do i have to worry about the chickens being protected from predators at night. It has taken so much stress out of keep chickens. I would never go without one ever again. The quality of this unit is second to none. It never fails to open on sun up or close on sun down. I would gladly pay way more for this automatic door as it is truly a help in my day to day life. I never have to worry about keeping it charged or anything. Every chicken owner needs one yesterday
