  • What a good idea
I will never have to get up on a day off to let the chicks out again. The door is a nice gauge of alloy and the piston is strong. The piston makes a little noise but thats not a bad thing at my place. If any birds are still outside when the door starts to close it gives them a signal and enough time to get inside the coop. The controller is easy to use and the remotes work great and have good range, I can even open/close the door with the remote from inside the house. I have a window shot of the controller on the coop and its about 50 feet away. Its really easy to change the times as winter sets in. The only bad thing is the need for a screwdriver to open the waterproof case to adjust the timer,. Mines mounted under the eave of the coop but i still use the cover. I made it easy to remember by writing down 1-time 2-open 3-close on the inside of the control box so i can remember what order you make adjustments. Buy this unit and you wont regret it. I got the large door because I have a few Jersey Giants and i may be getting another goose and they dont fit in the little 11" door. ... show more

  • Horrible product do not buy
I wish I could give zero stars. First one came broke after I installed it. 2 weeks later got the replacement with the sensor not working. Tried fixing based off their recommendations but still don’t work. Horrible quality and looks like a prototype. My chickens were let out around 6am with the automatic door. After leaving my house the power went out and it shut the door for some reason trapping in one of my chickens all day while I was out. Finding it hours later with labored breathing from heat stroke. Unfortunately one of my favorite girls died. Contacted company and they could care less. Do not buy ... show more

  • This Automatic Chicken Coop Door is Outstanding
I made a few minor modifications to meet my needs for its use. I mounted the whole thing on a frame which I then screwed fast over the opening to the coop opening. The coop came with a precut opening that was a little too wide and far too tall. The frame and the larger fabricated door solved that issue. The controller was located on the other side of the coop and on the inside. I had to cut the Sensor cable and make an extension to reach the controller location. I decided to build a protection cover just to help protect the majority of the door assembly equipment and parts. The door actuator, sensor and controller are all powered by a 12 battery that is charged using a small 60w solar panel and solar panel controller. The whole setup is a great addition for coop owners. I would expect the ratings below are for a door not modified and in that case it truly is easy to install and use. But, if you were to make modifications similar to what I did, it still would be an easy installation if thought and planning is used in making any such modifications. ... show more

  • Good product
I had a problem initially it would not work at all. The time to resolve that was extensive. But once the process began, the individual handling my case made sure all was well. Now I have the door opener installed. Set the timer last night. Very nice to sleep in a little bit, my birds went out their little door on their own. I have Pekin ducks and chickens, the opening is big enough. The timer can be set to open and close. There is a remote control and a manual button. The door is metal and very sturdy. ... show more

  • No battery backup on timer, loses time with power outage
Good but seems like a next to last prototype almost ready for market. Biggest issue is it needs a battery backup to store time. Product resets to 800AM every time it loses power. #2 can't run door up or down without the remote control or it being the program time.

  • Stopped working after 6 months! Does not handle cold weather well. Freezes.
The door worked great in the beginning. A little complicated to assemble if you don't have basic construction knowledge. The timer is very easy to set and adjust when the days get shorter/longer. Once the temperature dropped below freezing, it started getting stuck. I had to use a hair dryer on the lift bar to make it operate. I now cover it with a towel on cold nights and that seems to help. Now, after 6 months, it no longer opens and closes without assistance. When it closes, it doesn't recognize when it's closed and continues going lower until it can't go further, leaving a 2" gap at the top of the door, and then the motor keeps running until I use the remote to stop it. It gets stuck in the down position so I have to pull up on the bar to move it up into the proper position. I then have to wait for 10 minutes to make sure it stays closed because sometimes it will reopen if I hit the sensor at all while trying to close it. I contacted customer service at the email provided on other reviews and didn't get a response. It supposedly has a 1 year warranty but what good is that if you can't contact them? Spend the extra money for a quality door if you want hassle free security for your flock. ... show more

  • Works as expected
Easy enough to install. Still working out if I prefer the timer or the remote control. The sensor caused a problem at first because it detected something in the way when nothing was. Door moves very slow so I don’t see how any chickens would get caught. Will update my review if I encounter any problems. ****Edit After several months we love this door. Once our chickens were in a routine, we started using the timer. It’s easy to change with the seasons and the time changes. Beware if you lose power the door may not open or close. We learned the hard way. Also the sensor can easily detect just about anything so we point it at the ceiling to avoid obstructions and haven’t had an issue with the chickens getting caught in the door. There have been a few winter mornings in the single digits where the door has either opened a little bit, or not at all. ... show more

  • Was great, until it wasn't
This door worked perfectly until it stopped working, other than it resetting every time the power goes out. I have emailed the company twice with no response when under another comment they said they respond within 12 hours... I am still under my one year warranty and just want it fixed!
