I never thought I would automate my chicken coop, but this year my kid started school, and my chickens were suffering from the change in our routine, so when I found this I figured I'll just give it a try. It won't close if one of my chickens is under the door, so no one has accidentally gotten squished. It got a timer to open at the right time every morning, and close when the chickens go to bed in the evening, but has a button in case I need to open it for a straggler. I added this automatic door to our chicken coop not long ago, and it’s been working well. It only took about 30 minutes to install using a few basic steps. It runs on solar power, and the battery lasts a long time, even during cloudy or rainy weather. One thing I was happy to see is the anti-pinch feature. Once, a chicken was in the way while the door was closing, and the door popped back open, then closed again when it was safe. That gave me confidence in the safety design.
