    • This works!!!!
Took a bit of time to program. I suggest reading the full programming instructions to familiarize yourself with the steps first. If you take too long to read a step, do the programming for that part, then read the next step, it will time out if you take too long and you'll have to start over, and you will get frustrated. Once we got the programming figured out, it works great. Installing the door itself was pretty easy. The remote works from a pretty good distance away from the coop too. I can use it from in my house. Also I love the row of lights next to the door. The outside lights will light up green when the door opens and lights up red when closing... so you know that remote did close it. That way your not guessing in the dark if it closed. They only light up when opening and closing the door. Keeps the chickens safely in at night, and more importantly it keeps the raccoons out!!! No longer have to worry about running out to close coop at night and reopen in the morning. Wish we would have seen this and bought it sooner! ... show more

It had been a pain having to open the chicken run door in the morning and close it at night, especially when we have to ask somebody else to do it in our absence. Although we already had an automatic chicken coop door, some chickens and especially ducks stay under the chicken coop at night. We kept on losing chickens and ducks in the past because the chicken run door was left open occasionally. So, I decided to buy and install an automatic chicken coop door for the chicken run. The criteria included, and not limited to, ease of use, large size and functional pinch protection. I came across this product and decided to give it a try. The previously purchased chicken coop door is kind of too small. It took me about one hour to install it because I installed it on the chicken run instead of chicken coop. It only took a few minutes to set it up. The user's manual is quite well written unlike many other products made in China. It has been working nearly flawlessly a month now. It only happened once when it would not close, but it was not the fault of the door. A wire was in the way and the infrared light sensor sensed it. I removed and fastened the wire. Then the problem was solved. You can set it to use either the timer or photosensor. You can set between 0-10 how bright or how dark the light is before it opens or closes the door. Ducks are not in a hurry to come home. So, it is important to have the ability to configure it. It came with two keychain remotes. They work very well too. ... show more

    • The laser causes problems
The door works well and is fairly easy to program, the one problem I have been having is that the laser is easily disturbed and won't allow the door to close. It's similar to the laser on the garage door except that if there's anything within a short distance it will light up red and will not allow the door to open or close. A chicken roost tends to be a tight space and thus it sees the opposite wall or a 2x4 wall brace and thinks that something is in the way. In the end I had to put it up as high as possible and point it down and across the room to get it to start working. I adjusted the screw but that will only take you so far. Due to this problem the door stays open all night about half the time until I got the issue resolved. Even dust on the lens causes the problem. The programming is a little confusing at first, but after getting that figured out and installing (which was no problem), this door has been perfectly dependable for the last 9 months with no issue whatsoever. I even have it mounted a little too low, at ground level, and it gets a bit dirty just from being so low on the coop wall. It’s still dependable and functions twice a day, every day, as it should.     • Good automatic chicken door
Bought 2 of these for my wife's chickens since we've had a loss due to predators. She loved them, its nice for her not to have to go out 2 times a day to let them in and out. So far, the pros are it was a fairly easy install since I already had power to our barn. Also, the programing wasn't too bad and the light bars on the side change color to indicate close and open (red and green) and its a good visual to see the door is functioning. The remotes are nice and have a good range, our barn is about 200 feet from the window and they work from inside. A few downsides that aren't deal breakers are the remotes take a special battery that didn't come with them, and the rain shed is a nice thought but not super great when installed. A slightly better design would be a great benefit. Overall, happy with them so far. Why 2? We have a brooder coop we raise our chickens in and we train the chickens to the door before they are with the general population. Helps so no girls get locked out when the time comes! ... show more

    • Convenient and Easy to Install
I was so excited to find this on sale as most were very expensive. I was a little hesitant because of the price, but glad I decided to buy because it has worked perfect and my chickens love being able to go into there run at a decent time of day. I like not having to shut them up every night as the automatic door does it for me. I bought a rechargeable battery with a solar charger and I'm having trouble keeping it charged so I dont know if the coop door is using so electricity that the solar charger cant keep up, I'm still trying to figure this situation out. ... show more

    • No solar panel included
This was super easy to install (although I didn't find any real directions, I just created a space and screwed it in which was easy enough!) It did say that it didn't include the solar panel, but I didn't realize it would be so difficult and expensive to find one that would work so that's the only reason I gave it 4 start instead of 5. We've also only been using it for a week, so I'll update if it ends up not being durable, but so far, no issues:) ... show more
