This is by far the best chicken door on the market! I have to start with this unit being well packed with bubble wrap and thick foam pads that kept it safe in transit, many manufacturers don't pay that much attention. As for the installation, it is very straightforward and the hardware is all included, you just mount the door with the pre-drilled holes and mount your panel in direct sun. It turns on right out of the box and immediately starts charging, the panel has a long cable too. I am a huge fan of the color because it looks so sleek even if dusty from the chicken run, and it has a backlight on the timer screen for easy viewing in the dark or dusty conditions. The buttons are large and easy to press on the unit and the remote, which thankfully included the battery! The size of this is great! It fits all of my breeds (ameraucana, black copper marans, olive eggers) except my extra large breed brahma who duck to use it. The birds use it happily from the first day we set it up, it's quiet and not too fast so they aren't afraid of it at all. I noticed it has a nice weather seal strip on the power and cable box, so it is very thoughtfully built. We will see how it holds up to snow soon too! ... show more

Easy to install and works great. The timer is accurate, and the solar panel just needs to be placed in direct sunlight to keep it charged daily. It feels sturdy and has held up well in the rain. For worked great on the first day, timer worked, solar panel was good...... But now we're about 5 days into use and the door will not close. It's permanently open and nothing will get it to close, not the remote or the manual button on the face. It starts to drop them suddenly jams and then rises back up. There's nothing visibly setting off the "No Pinch" sensor but it just won't close. ... show more
