How to Power Up the Scanner Please be reminded that MaxiCheck Pro does not come with built-in battery and it relies on the vehicle battery to provide power. Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot "won't power up" issue. Step 1: Connect the scanner to the DLC port of the vehicle through OBD2 included. Step 2: Turn ignition on. Won't Power Up Troubleshooting: Step 1: Make sure your car has good battery level. Step 2: Check if you turned igition on. Step 2: Check whether PIN 4, PIN 5 and PIN 16 on the DLC port has voltage. Step 3: Check whether the PINs on the OBD2 cable are damaged. No communication Troubleshooting: Step 1: Check compatibility with us or Autel engineers before purchase. Step 2: Update the software to the latest. Step 3: Select the correct track on the menu, eg. ABS/SrS-- USA -- GM-- 2000- Passenger Car-- Chassis -- E(Fourth digit of your VIN) -- Delco/Bosch ABS/TCS -- Special Functions-- Automated Bleed Step 4: If it shows no communication through auto bleed, check whether it communicates with the car through OBDII. Bought the MaxiCheck Pro because I needed to clear a C2202 code after replacing the ABS control module on my 2011 Dodge Avenger which caused my speedometer to stop working. This scanner worked perfectly by reprogramming the module with the ABS Initialization. It got rid of the ABS, traction control, BRAKE, and check engine dash lights after initializing the ABS module. My speedometer also starting functioning like normal again. The dealer was going to charge $160 to initialize the ABS module, but I figured I could spend a little more to do it myself and have a high end scanner for a decent price. I do not regret my decision to purchase the MaxiCheck Pro because I plan on getting a lot more use out of this amazing scanner. ... show more

    • Autel Maxicheck Pro works great for ABS Bleed on 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid
The Autel Maxicheck Pro worked great for fixing the ABS System on my 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. Previously, I had done front brake pads on the car and air had gotten into the brake lines. With ABS, no amount of conventional bleeding would work for me. The ABS dash light and the BRAKE dash light were both on continuously and the brakes were grabbing and getting weak. The Autel website did not specifically list my car as compatible with the Maxicheck Pro. Other users said it had worked for a 2007, so i took a chance and ordered it. Autel Support people could not guarantee it would work either, but told me I could return it for a full refund if it didn't work. The unit arrived quickly. The Autel Maxicheck Pro connected easily to my car and the Scans showed several ABS Fault Codes associated with low pressure at the front wheels as expected. The Autel Maxicheck Pro offered me two types of ABS Bleed: a Power Bleed if I had a high pressure pump or an assisted Manual Bleed whereby the ABS Pump would be run and the ABS valves would be opened selectively wheel by wheel. I did not have a high pressure pump, so I opted for the latter method. The Autel Maxicheck Pro gave me step by step instructions and I successfully bled all four wheels, one at a time. Afterwards, the ABS fault codes for low pressure disappeared and the ABS dash light went out. The BRAKE dash light stayed on because there were some other faults from some other inter-related modules. I then ran the IVD Initialization Sequence listed by the Maxicheck Pro which cleared those other Faults and reinitialized the ABS System. The BRAKE dash light went out. The car and it's brakes are now functioning properly. I could not have done this without the Autel Maxicheck Pro and very glad that it worked for my car! ... show more

Outstanding portable hand held scanner with quick response. Provides all data stream necessary to successfully diagnose and pin point engine performance troubleshooting. Only issue I had was that Toyota did not have the Auto Bleed feature the scan tool professes to have. Otherwise, an excellent Automotive Scan tool with best value for the price ... show more

This is a great scanner for the money, very capable! I bought it because I needed to auto bleed the Abs brake system in my 2013 Heavy Duty Silverado. You may need to run the auto bleed up to 4x to get a full purge of the air. This isn't a flaw in the scanner, it's basically just hitting the go button on the ABS. It would be the same process on a megabuck snap-on scanner! Before you start, have your Vin number ready, and maybe snap a pic of the RPO codes from your glove box, there's a few questions the scanner will ask before you get rolling. No complaints thus far, very straightforward user interface, 10 of 10 would buy again! ... show more

    • Nice device with several flaws
First of all, it does what it is supposed to do, if you can use it out-of-the-box. If you need it to do more or you want to upload new configs or update the software you need a lot of patience. It's easy to use, no doubt. I found out that it does not provide all ODB2 signals my cars are providing. Some are missing, so diagnosing a problem becomes quite difficult. A higher-priced scanner is a better option. I read in the forum, that it might be helpful to update the scanner, which only works after you registered the scanner. I tried, and the website did not let me register at all, since you need to use MFA that doesn't work, it neither let me receive a code via cell nor email. I tried to email their support, but it also didn't work, since I never heard back. So I was stuck with a scanner with limited features and data. I returned it. ... show more

I had previously posted the review below and gave the product a one star. While I was disappointed, mistakes and errors do happen and its how a vendor reacts to those issues that define them. The vendor bent over backwards at making this right. Dozens of communication efforts, trouble shooting steps, and ultimately a replacement and upgrade for my troubles. The new device works as expected. When a vendor will own their issues and make it right it needs to be shared. Based upon the function of the new device and the outstanding support I have bumped it up to 5 stars. Original Review: Installed software on pc. Registered the product. Checked for updates. "No updates available for this device". Great must be up to date then. Try to use it on a 2003 lincoln town car which it is supposed to cover. Car has really bad misfires and an engine light. Maxicheck says no codes. Use my old Actron and it pulls 8 codes. TPS out of spec. Cylinder 3 and 8 misfires. Guess I'll stick with Actron. If it can't even pull codes I have to wonder if the bleed function will work which was the main reason for the purchase. ... show more

    • Effortless ABS bleeding
I purchased this scan tool because I needed a way to bleed the ABS system on my 2000 GMC Truck. Older GM trucks have a nasty habit of having their brake lines rust away. At any rate I had great hope that this scan tool would allow me to bleed the ABS system myself. After I ordered and received the unit I tried it right out of the box. I could not get it to recognize my vehicle or communicate in any way with the trucks computer. I emailed Autel and received a prompt reply. I was instructed to update the software and try again. After updating the software (from 2017) I was able to successfully use the scan tool. It was actually much easier than the manual would lead you to believe and was almost entirely automatic, taking maybe two minutes. I am impressed. For the life of me though I don't know why the software on the SD card that comes in the scan tool wasn't updated to begin with. You'd think it would be updated until at least the date of manufacture (in this case Sep 2019). The updating process takes about an hour. The brake pedal is no longer spongy. The tool is also capable of things like Steering sensor adjustment, air bag service and code management, electronic parking brake adjustment and battery management, among others. I am impressed! I’ve already used it on two of my cars. First, I used it to perform an autobleed procedure for my ABS brakes on my 05 Pontiac. Second, I used it to update the battery management system when I replaced the battery in my 14 Ford. It’s more than paid for itself. To make sure I had the latest features, I updated the software on the MaxiCheck Pro. Upating It was easy, and Autel seems to be actively publishing updates. I feel like this is a well-designed tool — not something that will become obsolete before I use it again.
