The shredder is quite loud, but you get used to it later on. You have an option on the shredder to turn the blades forward or in reverse, to remove any jams, which is the biggest plus point. This was perfect for shredding sensitive documents because it would output tiny little squares. The shredder is very top-heavy of course, so if you accidentally run into it, or hit the tip of your shoe or chair with it, the shredder will fall down, so put it away from everything else. It says shredding 6 papers is the maximum, but I don't think that is the case because the shredder seems to struggle with shredding 6 papers. For me, shredding 4 papers at a time is enough, so this worked for me. This is a valuable product; I have shredded about four bags worth of papers, and it still seems to hold up for me. ... show more

I had another shredder (Amazon's Pick: https://amzn.to/41Y4YAc ) for almost two and a half years before it just stopped working/feeding the paper through. So I took to reading reviews of potential replacements yesterday. Queue the frustration of getting through tons of 5-star reviews only to find the 1-star foreboding/warning reviews to negate all that reading. It's so hard to know what to buy, who to trust, etc., these days, especially on Amazon. I went with my gut and decided to try this one and I am glad I did. It arrived overnight, less than 24 hours later, and worked beautifully right out of the box. Now, I've learned with these things so I only fed it one sheet at a time. Never feed any home (or office, really) paper shredder more than 1 piece of paper at a time. It's just best practice. Feed it credit cards at your own risk. Om-nom-nom the paper shredder chewed those pages nicely. Very satisfying shredding, if I do say so myself. I got through about a bin and a half's worth of paper just fine. It did get pretty hot, considering, so I can see that it's not meant for much more in one sitting without risk of overheating. So work in batches for a big job or just shred as you go day-to-day. The shreds are so tiny and fluffy! This makes really soft shreds if you're looking to reuse as pet bedding or the like. Look, we know these things are temperamental, and none are perfect, nor will any last forever. But in the interest of saving you time and sanity, this one did not disappoint. I will update if anything wild changes about that assessment. It's a little more than the last one I got ($45 vs. $30) but I do think it is worth the extra $15. (Oh and it's much quieter!) I use this daily. All mail gets shredded. It seems to take almost everything. I tried the kitchen sink but that was a no-go. If it fit, I would shred it.

I had a Royal cross cutting prior. The frame of this one feels cheap. For the money thought it would have a drawer for emptying but don't. It does cut nice for now. Haven't used it much yet.
