The media could not be loaded. I have two of these! One in my 20gal and one in my 10 gal! To fit in my 10 gal tank, I had to separate the middle section and remove it, only using 1 of the 2 sections. I love that you can break it up! Air pump for aeration, wave-maker for current, sponge for mechanical filtration, and biomedia for bio filtration, all in one? Yes please! It's very adjustable, up, down, left, right, water flow, and air flow are both separately adjustable. It's whisper quiet and can be fully submerged. My fish love the current and my loaches are more active. The sponge filter is not exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping they would use a really fine sponge to filter really tiny debris out. The coarse big sponges are okay, but it would be better if they were fine to properly clear the water. A fine sponge will also last a lifetime, and never need to be changed. Just squeezed out to clean it. It made my water crystal clear! I drained a little of my tank into a bucket, submerged this, swished around the biomedia and sponges, and primed it. Then I let it drain, and put it in my main tank, and dumped the water in the toilet. This is to drain any leftover chemicals from the manufacturing process. It's rarely needed, but better safe than sorry! I then ran this with my old filter for 2 weeks to let the bacteria establish before I remove the old filter. I love that the core is just biomedia and sponge filters, because you just have to squeeze them out into a little bit of tank water and nothing else is needed! It's a little pricey for a filter like this, sure, but it's cheaper than also getting an air pump and a wave maker as well. This makes a LOT of current. I returned it to 5 stars. I put my sheet polishing filter wrapped around and it worked well. I like the design and it even fit in my 10 gal fine! I wish the blue plastic pieces were also black, to blend in. I had to replace the air line tubing, and the adjustment knob. The ones it comes with are not good at all, and the line kinks.

I am SO pleased with this filter. I’ve had aquariums for 30+ years and this is the best filter I’ve found. Easy to assemble. Quiet. The water in the tank doesn’t evaporate as quickly as with an above water filter. This is a particular must have for eel owners. My zig zag eel was an escape artist (typical eel behavior) and would constantly swim into above water filter. That problem is now gone. Filter has been installed for a little over a month and no issues When I received this item from Amazon it was missing a couple of pieces. I reached out to the company via email and they immediate replied and sent out a replacement.

I wanted to love this filter. It's quiet, easy to install,and a great price, and I love the air bubble feature...BUT I bought it for my axolotl who was in a 10 gallon at the time because we were traveling. I bought him a new axo food and as soon as I fed him the water clouded up and never cleared....in a 10 gallon! Once we got into our new house I set up his 40 gallon, installed the filter, fed him and the same thing happened. I know the food is part of the problem, the other part is that Axolotl waste is particularly stinky, but in a 10 gallon tank this filter SHOULD have cleared the water, on and I had a hang on filter going as well. Now I have an empty 40 gallon tank that's super mucky. If it isn't the filter somebody let me know because the photo below is where my poor boy is now.

UPDATE: Customer service reached out to me to inquire about what specifically was wrong with my unit. I was having issues with the propeller. A replacement filter was provided and so far working great. I appreciate the quick response as my turtle is extra messy this time of year. I will update if anything changes, though I feel fairly confident it will keep working this time. ORIGINAL: I was originally impressed with the filter. Was pretty quiet and easy to put together. I cleaned it and saw that it had caught a lot. However, it has stopped working since its first cleaning. This isn't my first filter. I try to be careful when cleaning. Not sure why it stopped working. But now my tank is dirty again so quickly and I'm filterless.

WOW! I was very surprised at how well this filter works! I had a filter stop working and ordered this one on on a whim. Within hours my tank water was more clear than I have seen it in a while , I LOVE that it has sections to customize the size. It has a VERY STRONG flow if you turn it all the way up. I keep it on Low. I definitely recommend this filter to anyone!! It’s worth your money.
