This is a must have for me. I've been using it to great effect for more than a decade. It doesn't say so, but this is actually an Amazon-backed product. That's important, because the old risk/scam was that the insurance company would go out of business. I've been buying this on my cameras for more than a decade and bought it four times. I've used it three times. The first time paid for the decade's worth. Most recently, I bought a nearly $4,000 camera for $128 (now $168). First (accidentally) without the associated insurance. I couldn't buy it after the fact, so I returned it and bought another with insurance -- I like it that much. I never bothered to register it with the company -- which wasn't a problem. One year and two weeks later, I wrecked the camera by accidentally running over it with a car. The camera was in pieces, with the flash connector, lens connector and battery door pulled off. However, the camera still worked. (The lens and flash were surprisingly undamaged). I called the number, gave them the info on the original email and my email. They said they would send me an email with a return label. They couldn't seem to send it to my personal domain (twice -- 10 minutes of jail mail to talk to a person this time). They have a restriction that allows to call only once a day for a label. The following day they failed to send successfully to my GMail address. The following day they elevated it and they sent me the label. I mailed the camera pieces out, and they acknowledged receipt a day or two later by phone. They told me it would take about a week to repair. A week later, they called me and said that the camera was damaged in transit (WTF? No, it wasn't, but whatever), and they would just refund my purchase price. Normally, this is done by Amazon Gift card, but the amount was too large, so they said they would send a check. I ordered another brand new camera with 3 year accident protection the same day. The downside is that I had to pay the tax. The upside is that I got to keep the accessories, and get the 5% cash back from the new Amazon credit card purchase. Three days later, they sent an email saying the check was in the mail. Note that some reviewers have complained that they lost almost two weeks waiting for delivery. This isn't true. A careful read of the terms indicates that the warranty is actually good for three years and two weeks. If I had it to do over (and I probably will, because I'm hard on equipment), I'd work harder to get around the "one call per day" for the label issue. The check arrived the following day via FedEx Overnight. Not only would I buy this again, I already have.

Although I am an experienced photographer, the rock I was standing on slipped out from under me and I fell into a creek along with my camera. Luckily I had purchased an Asurion accident policy when I bought my camera and after returning my waterlogged camera to Asurion they sent me a check for the original purchase price of my camera, so I was able to buy a replacement. Kudos to Asurion.

Bought this as an add-on to seller provided warranty for my Nikon camera. Never had to use them but the policy was emailed promptly and was clear. Called the number provided once to clarify on what was covered and they were prompt and helpful. Useful to have if the manufacturer's warranty is invalid in the country of purchase.

Update: My second experience was terrible; really frustrating to say the least. The communication was null, and the time frame was unforgettable. If I didn't reach out numerous times, I'm not sure if I would have received my item back. It was like it was forgotten and not a priority until I reached out a few times and requested it back - even if it didn't get fixed. I had to cancel business opportunities because of this complete lapse in communication. First experience: Super impressive service. I had to send my camera in to get fixed. All I had to do was go back to my Amazon order for the warranty, and follow the instructions. Printed off the forms and brought it to a UPS drop center. Within a couple of days, received a rest, call and email that it was received. The next couple of days, received texts that it was being worked on. A couple days later, it was at my door. This warranty is a great option. My last camera body, I did not purchase a warranty and it cost me. Thus, hoping I would not need to use it but I did - I was very pleased with the service. I'll continue to purchase this warranty with my next camera and lens purchases. Thank you!

my cat broke my lumix s pro lens. It took them months to sort out the warranty, but they turned around and fixed the lens. I just had to ship the lens and I got it back fixed within a month.
