  • Works for me !
I am very surprised at the number of negative reviews ! I have installed 2 of these at different location with no issues. I even changed from WOW to Spectrum with no issues. What can I say ? IT WORKS !

  • Good modem for the price
This Arris modem was really easy to set up. Virtually plug and play. So far, it has had no issues and there have been no signal drops or buffering. I appreciate that it is a modem and wifi combo, so it occupies less space than my old devices. In my opinion, it's a good value.

  • Update: Drops 2.4GhZ constantly, poor support,No WLAN button, refurbished units need a factory reset
Update: This is terrible I regret getting a modem/router combo. If one fails you are in a bad spot. I use smart home devices that primarily use 2.4GhZ only and the router keeps dropping the signal; nothing works; things reset. Arris support? They want me to send it back after verifying it was faulty *without sending a replacement* so I’ll just…. Have no internet? That, or I have to pay the full cost until they receive the old one. I can’t do that right now. I can’t afford to have this fail and can’t afford to front the cost of a second unit. I got a refurbished SBG8300-RB DOCIS 3.1 WiFiunit and it was about $120. It was impossible to change the network name or password until I found the number for support in a PDF manual online. . There is a hole at the top in the back you must press and hold for 15 seconds until it resets. Otherwise, it will ask you for the email of the previous owner when trying to log in. This should have been done while refurbishing the unit. There is also no WLAN button, which you can click on some models which makes it search and pair with devices easier. Without it, connecting things like a printer is a tedious process. ... show more

  • should be easier
Day one. I could not get the Arris application to connect it would not find the wi-fi signals, the instructions in the box gave me the wrong IP/address to access the settings, I should have used the old one. I called tech support, they spoke English with heavy accent that was a barrier, just a barrier not a complaint. Reset the modem redownload the app, still nothing. Then he gave me the correct IP/address and it worked right away. Why was this incorrect on the instructions int he box. Got it set up in a few minutes after that. The setting interface is not super intuitive but it's cleaner and better than the past interface. However every time I connect the setting for the modem it tells me the version of Chrome is old and may have trouble with some settings. I checked, nope Chrome is the newest version and apparently the setting menu is set to run off an older version, but it still works haven't found any issues. Back to the app. It sucks. You not only have to download one app but two apps. The second app changes your login from admin to your email. Thats a nice touch however I have had to go through the whole process of setting up the app each time and if it works it throws me back to the other app. I don't understand the reasoning for this. Either way I am hoping this has better connection and speeds looks like it is working once I called my internet provider, Sparklight does work with it. Should have been easier with all the "convenience" options starting with the correct IP/address. ... show more

  • Great Upgrade/Replacement for Xfinity!
Took 20 minutes or so to set up with Xfinity. I just plugged it in with all the cables and got on the Xfinity app, added the new equipment using the app, and that was it. Then configured it on the desktop for the wifi. Easy. The instructions stated that another IP address needed to be configured, so I had to search and use 192.168.0.1, which I accessed without any issues. An old modem was limiting the speed, now it is super fast! ... show more

  • Works great
Use with Vyve internet in TX. Have had it for 1 year and works great. No issues, easy install. Way better than renting one for monthly fee from internet provider.

  • just what I wanted.
The Arris Surf Board Dual modem/router was just what I needed for my internet with increased speed handles it just fine. The combination made much more room and less wires.

  • Good performance but parental controls are practically worthless
I used this router to replace an ASUS router that claimed to have outstanding features to support parental control — except that none of the features actually existed. This Arris router didn't make such claims, but even the ones it made are terrible to implement. • The signal is strong throughout the house on both floors. • I can see the devices that are connected, but the Surfboard isn't very good at identifying which type of device is connected. Unless you know the MAC address of the device, odds are you won't be able to identify it. And when you do identify it, you can't assign a label to it to help you remember/identify it again next time. • If you want to shut down a device from 10PM - 7AM every day, that's impossible to do. You can only define a single time range for each date. You can either shut it down for 10-midnight or midnight-7, but not both. • But even then, it doesn't work. I've turn off access from midnight-7, and at some other time during the day, the access is blocked. And after trying to select different time ranges, the only way to provide access was to completely turn off the filter. I thought maybe the device wanted me to convert to GMT, but that didn't work either. So that was disappointing, as it was the most important feature that I wanted from the router. But as far as I can tell, no router really implements parental control very well. ... show more
