  • Reliable
Very pleased with the UCG-Fiber. Reliable, fast, low power consumption. I was able to replace my existing UDM Pro with a short outage.

  • Ubiquiti UCG-Fiber - A Compact Powerhouse for the Privacy-Minded User
I'm always on the hunt for a router that's not only lightning-fast but also incredibly user-friendly, especially when it comes to VPN capabilities. The Ubiquiti UCG-Fiber Cloud Gateway truly fit that bill. What really impressed me was its versatility in handling VPNs. Whether you're setting it up as a server (think connecting your computer to a specific site or another device) or, my personal favorite, leveraging its client-side VPN networking to protect all your devices, or even just a select few IP addresses, this router handles it beautifully. For those who aren't familiar, this means you can subscribe to a VPN service, integrate it directly into this router, and instantly add a robust layer of protection for yourself, your family, and your entire network from prying eyes or those who might try to pinpoint your physical location via your IP address. Now, let's talk about something that might give some folks pause: this router gets H O T. It doesn't have an internal fan, but honestly, don't let that worry you. I've been using this product for several months now, and there hasn't been any damage or performance compromise whatsoever. It runs remarkably quietly, and the small LED screen on the front provides clear, real-time insights into network traffic, which is a nice touch. I also appreciate the consistent flow of updates from Ubiquiti; it's reassuring to know they're actively working to patch vulnerabilities and enhance security. Connectivity was a dream, thanks to its generous port selection: four 2.5 GbE ports and a mix of three 10 GbE/SFP+ ports. This made hardwiring various high-speed devices an absolute breeze. It's safe to say this gateway has become a cornerstone of my network. I'm genuinely looking forward to providing an updated review after a full year of use, but so far, it’s been an outstanding experience. ... show more

  • powerful features but reliability needs work
The Ubiquiti UCG‑Fiber has been a noticeable upgrade compared to using a basic router. The amount of configuration it offers is impressive, and for anyone who likes fine‑tuning their network, it opens the door to far more control than typical consumer gear. Traffic management, VLANs, VPN options, and overall visibility into the network are all strong points, and in that sense it’s a big step up. The downside is stability. Since switching to this gateway, I’ve had far more disconnects than before. Nothing else in my setup changed, so it’s hard not to suspect the device itself. I noticed another reviewer mentioning similar issues, which makes me think it’s not just my environment. When it’s running smoothly, it’s great, but the random drops make it frustrating. Customer service hasn’t helped much either. They do respond, but the answers haven’t been useful so far. I reached out multiple times with different questions and never got anything that actually addressed the issues. For a device at this level, better support would make a big difference. Overall, the UCG‑Fiber has strong potential and excellent configuration options (good value for the money), but the reliability problems and weak support keep it from being a clear recommendation. ... show more

  • Not bad
Not bad for what it is. I’d the Dream Machine pro is more than that you want this is a smaller option that can handle all the apps and a decent amount of clients.

  • Intermittent Packet Loss, disconnects
Pros: Easy setup. I'm using SFP+, so it's plug in, turn on, and away it goes. When it's working, it's fine. I wish it worked without dropping packets like mad. Cons: Persistent connections get dropped every hour or so. When I switch back to my old router, no disconnects. Switch back to this one, disconnects. Same SFP+ module, same cable. If we didn't have a lot of gamers in the house, it might not matter. We do, however, and it's very annoying. ... show more

  • Skepticism proved wrong
Had a little trepidation from the reviews. But it was unwarranted package came, and a reasonable amount of time satisfied with purchase even with the markup because these things were hard to find.
