Iām 56 years old with 100% silver hair on the top and sides, along with some gray in the back. I started using Arctic Fox instead of permanent dye about 15 months ago, and it actually covers my gray, too. I usually leave it on for 3-4 hours, but Iām going to experiment to see if I can get good coverage in less time. My thought has always been that if Iām going to spend the time and product to cover my roots, I want it to look great and last. I only wash my hair once a week and so because of that, I guess the color lasts on me longer than it might others. It really lasts well on the parts that aren't root grow in - like on those parts, I only recolor my whole head maybe once every 3-4 months and it never fades to be gray or anything like that - it just fades to what it would look like if I only used Ritual not mixed with anything else - if you're not familiar with that Arctic Fox color - it's like a brownish burgundy. As for the roots, I do have to color every few weeks but can go a month if I use colored hair powders like Splat Hair Chalk. If you have gray, you know the hairline though can look bad pretty quickly and so I do have to color that part more often or use colored hair mascara if I don't want to recolor ever week. Itās fun how many compliments I receive from young women in stores. They often tell me they love my hair color, ask if Iām a hairdresser, or want to know how I got my color to look like this! A few have even said, āIām going to tell my friend how you did that!ā With gray hair, I find itās important to add some brown to create a richer look. I mix in any of the temporary browns available since I donāt think Arctic Fox has a brown that I know of. If you just apply fashion colors over gray without a brown base, I donāt think it looks as rich or flattering. I mix brown with Arctic Fox Ritual, Violet Dream, Purple AF, and Ritual to achieve a beautiful burgundy-ish plum. Iāve also received compliments for a bright red mix that doesnāt need brown: 2 parts Sunset Orange, and 1 part each of Wrath, Poison, and Ritual. This combination creates a stunning red, similar to Pulp Riot Pyro, but at half the cost. If you donāt have gray hair yet and have dark hair, I recommend lightening it to at least a copper shade; otherwise, you might not get the vibrant results youāre looking for.

This dye was the first semi-permanent I have ever tried. I bleached my hair to a pale blonde (RIP beautiful hair ha) then applied this. I put only a portion of the bottle at a time in the plastic tub I was using and wore gloves to protect my hands, then went to town applying it. At the time my hair was past my shoulders and one bottle covered it all, and then some. I covered my hair with a shower cap for about 40 minutes and rinsed. PROS: Smells like grapes instead of chemicals Contains conditioning ingredients, specifically for those who have recently bleached their hair (as is recommended for bright colors) Does not stain sinks, counters, or bathtubs (at least it didn't for me, and I made quite a mess) Does not bleed on pillows or other fabrics Bright color that lasts! I have had my hair dyed over a month now and it's faded to a pink color. The tips of my hair are a paler pink while the top is darker. I stopped washing my hair every day and stuck with every other day, possibly a day more depending on the amount of oil present. I did not use sulfate free shampoo or conditioner for a while after dying it, and yes it did come out during the rinse but it still didn't do too much to the color right away. Most of the time I rinsed with cold water but every now and then it would be warmer. Now that I am using sulfate-free hair products it seems to be fading much less. CONS: False advertisement? I can't really say what it is for sure but the color on the bottles aren't always the color you get. It depends on how blonde your hair is and how long you saturate your hair, but I've seen many people complain about this color saying it is more red than purple. I myself had people ask if my hair was pink not too long after dying it because it looks different in every type of lighting. That's all I have for cons. This product is now going to be my go-to for alternative hair color (the fact that it's 100% vegan and cruelty free also helps). Don't bother with any other brand unless you want to be truly disappointed! I love Arctic Fox and I recommend this to everyone who asks me what kind of dye I use! Picture of the dark purple is from recently dying it, and the pink hair is what it look like on me now after a few weeks of fading.

I have slightly reddish (looks red only in sunlight) darker brown hair so I wasnāt expecting this to be a vibrant color on me. My goal was to just have a subtle plum color, subtle enough that itās not obvious on first glance in softer/indoor lighting but itās more noticeable in bright/daylight & this fully delivered exactly what I was after so Iām super pumped about that! Also it lasted only as long as a temporary dye is supposed to - a few weeks of the color I was aiming for, followed by a few weeks of it gradually fading back to my natural color. This is also what I wanted because this was just a trial run for me to see if I like my hair that color & want to go more permanent. (I did leave the product in to process for about 3+ hours before rinsing it out since I saw that other reviewers recommended leaving it on longer.) So the only reason I knocked off a star is that every time I showered (not even shampooed), it turned the bottom of my shower curtain & the bottom of the tub (especially around the drain) a lovely magenta shade of pink. Iām very adamant about keeping my shower clean (I just donāt feel clean if the shower I use isnāt clean), so this was just rather annoying. It does come off very easily with bleach & a melanine sponge (magic eraser) so my shower didnāt stay pink for very long afterwards, but it was just a nuisance to deal with. Also I applied the product in my rather small bathroom & there were some spots on the white wall, white baseboard, white sink, light grey cabinet, & light colored wood laminate flooring & I was able to easily get most of those spots cleared up with bleach & a melanine sponge. Thereās only 2 tiny very very faint spots that turned a very pale yellow color on the baseboard & wall; I honestly donāt think anyone would see the ones on the baseboard unless I pointed them out. (Definitely test in a very inconspicuous spot before you dive in using this method though.) Lastly I thought this smelled great while I was waiting for it to process! Iām sure itās not everyoneās cup of tea, but itās definitely not the worst smell not matter what & you only experience the scent while itās processing & during the 1st shower, maybe faintly during the 2nd shower.. Overall I would definitely buy this again if I wanted a temporary color & I would just apply the product in my shower so that I donāt have to worry about it getting on anything else in the bathroom. The 1st photo of me with the pink dress draped over my shoulders is my natural color, taken just a month before. (I was trying on bridesmaids dresses & needed to show the bride what the color would look like on me lol) The 2nd photo of me with the grey hat on is about 1 week after using this product. As you can see, my hair is pretty long & itās dense & hair dressers have always told me that my hair really likes to just soak up color & they end up using way more than they typically do & I was still able to get away with using just one bottle & it seemed fully saturated.

When it comes to dying hair in unique, wild ,bright and vibrant colors this brand ARTIC FOX has been by far the most vivid,long lasting color no fade for over 5 weeks . The many colors ARTIC FOX offers you can turn your hair into your own masterpiece. ARTIC FOX is the only brand I will buy ,It comes with enough dye for me to dye my hair 10 or more times and it lasts longer then any semi or demi color dye .In 18 years I have never found a dye that holds its color so long ..applying heat will solidify and heighten color .I personally use a bag with a warm towel instead of dry heat.when washing Out only use conditioner ,not to much ,cold-Luke warm water rinse till rinsing looks clear .I wait 3 days till I get my hair wet or wash it with color shampoo or a lite shampoo using leave in conditioner from day one is recommended I donāt use blow dryer or straighten just air dry with a lite product and use a wet hair brush I had teal and pastel pink purple and it covered it within second of applying without distorting color. If you have dark hair I would recommend a bleach wash start small five hair time to replenish before bleach washing again . There are color correct shampoo & conditioners as well as leave in toner and sprays ..

Have purchased this product many times! I know some people say it bleeds a lot, but they all bleed a lot. If you just put some coconut oil or Vaseline across your forehead and ears, it prevents it from staining those areas. Also, if you happen to get some of it on your surfaces, Dawn dish soap takes it right out. If you have dark hair, the color is not going to be vibrant. You only get the vibrant color on blonde hair. The color does fade within 6 weeks, however if you use a corresponding conditioner, that leaves color deposits, it extends the length of time that the color is visible. I have had it on for almost 8 weeks, and you can still see it. If you have long or thick hair you will need 2 bottles. The color works best if you completely saturate the hair. Don't worry about leaving it on too long, this stuff is basically just food coloring and conditioner
