Requesting something new on Amazon, without any description other than Joust/Rampage Deluxe Arcade or any pictures, is a bit scary, but my husband was sure he wanted this and was excited when I got it. Happy we took the chance. The box it arrives in is pretty big and heavy. It says 2 persons to move but he was able to get it inside, even if it was a struggle. Once you open the box you will see several smaller boxes and the side panels. Everything is packed securely and when we did a pre-assembly piece count/ match up everything was included. Panels, electrical parts, screw, caps, and dowels added up to 217 pieces. Plus, they throw in a spare parts bag that I am not including in the count. All you will need for assembling is one screw driver and some time and patience. I can’t say for sure how long assembly took as we took several decent sized breaks. But we started at about 11: 00 am and finished just before 7:00 pm. I am sure many could do it a lot faster. I took a bunch of pictures while assembly was happening and I will include them in no particular order. They give you a very detailed 26-page manual to use for assembly, with drawings, letters, and numbers. You really don’t have to rely on words at all for this step. They do suggest it be anchored to the wall, and for that you may need a drill. They also provide the hardware for that. We have not done so yet, as we are not decided on its final placement. Assembly can be mostly done by one person, but there were a couple time two people are needed (or at least helpful) to hold parts in place while the other is screwing things together. There are two times when you will be given a choice. For both the marque and the control deck, you can choose either the Joust or the Rampage design. You could change them later, but it would involve some disassembly. The machine in an impressive size. It stands just over 5 feet tall, a little less than 20 inches wide, and about 24 inches away from the wall at its deepest point. One or two players can play at a time just like at an arcade. Of course, we knew by the title it came with two games, but come to find out it has 14 games preloaded and ready to go. The list includes Joust, Rampage, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, MK3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat, Defender, Gauntlet, Toobin’, Wizard of Wor, RootBeer Trapper, Bubbles, Klax, and Paperboy. Some of these titles have been around for a while, so there is a little bit of something for everyone. Be sure to switch the on button in the internal motherboard before screwing on the back. There is another button on the top of the control deck that actually turns the games on and off, but will not work if the first one has not been turned on. The video screen has good color and the picture output is clear. The sound is decent and there is a volume control in case others in the room don’t wish to hear the game and explosions. The joy stick and buttons feel pretty good, not at all flimsy. There is some information in one of the manuals about which buttons do what in the games, and when you start a game, a brief tutorial pops up, otherwise it might be a little trial and error before you get it down for each of the games. The whole machine itself is pretty nice looking. They took their time making it look good from three sides. They even added a fake coin drop area where an old school arcade game would have one. It would have been super cool if you could actually use it and open it with a key, but even so, it’s a nice touch. Overall, I have no complaints about any aspect of this Arcade1Up Joust/Rampage 14 game machine. The price at the time of my order was $741.99, which may be slightly on the high side. But it is a large machine with a lot of games to offer, so many hours of fun.
