This has been a huge hit with my daughters (5 and 7) who play it for an hour or so every day. We fill it with candy, and they only get to keep one piece, but they have enough fun that they keep playing again and again after they’ve fished out their first piece. I’ve seen some negative reviews and I can understand why they exist. It’s not the most solidly built product in the world (though it holds up quite well given the price point). It takes a bit of figuring it out to get the hang of it (hint: find a promising spot and keep dropping the claw again and again without moving the position and it will get it soon enough) but once you do, it works quite well. The music is irritating, and it would be nice to be able to silence it, but the girls don’t seem to mind. For $40, I was expecting disposable garbage that wouldn’t last a week. Instead, we’ve already gotten our money’s worth a dozen times over. If it breaks, I will definitely be ordering another. ... show more

Christmas gift, but wanted to put batteries and toys in so it was ready to go when opened. Kids are gonna love it, very fun to play with, works well, good sounds effects. Sure to be a big hit!

I looked at several of these machines to use as a reward system for my kids and chose this one based on price and reviews. Here are some things we've noticed that may be helpful. This machine picks up 1"-1.25" capsules VERY easily. I grabbed some on Amazon like the ones you get out of the gumball type machines. You're a bit limited on items that fit inside the capsules but they are soo much easier for the claw to pick up. We've used coins, enamel pins, raffle tickets, slime, gumballs, warheads, rings, jolly ranchers, bracelets, stickers, and extra tokens in these capsules so far. The kids especially love extra tokens to play more! The machine will pick up other objects like miniature candy bars but not as easily as capsules. The drop dispensing area is about 2" wide so keep in mind when choosing prizes. The claw itself moves fairly slowly and is timed with the music so you may not get a prize with every turn. As other reviewers have mentioned, the claw is secured with a plastic bag when you receive it.. but it's fairly simple to tip the machine on it's side , unscrew the lid, remove the plastic and twist tie then replace the lid. It takes 3 D size batteries. Not sure how often they need replaced as we have only had it a week or so. The machine seems good quality with sturdy walls. The music is a bit loud but adds a fun element as it goes faster when your time is almost up, cheers when it drops a prize and gives a sad wah wah wah if you don't. Overall I'm very happy with this machine and my kids are scrambling for chores to do to earn a token to play. ( The machine comes with tokens in the bottom compartment). ... show more

You get what you pay for. This is barely usable. Even when using toys recommended in reviews, I could not in good conscious give this to my 4 year old. I was really hoping this would be a star Christmas present, but it's cheap sweatshop junk. Also, the thing is LOUD with no way to turn it off. This brought so much joy! These games can end up costing so much when we are out and about. Just a few crane machine games would easily cover the cost. We put items we thought they would enjoy inside and they had a blast getting their prizes and it didn't cost additional money so they could try as many times as they needed. It also gives lots of practice so when we do pay for machines they will have more skill! Absolutely love it. I do recommend using individually wrapped candies if you're going to put candy in it in order to keep it clean and it working order. ... show more

Very loud with no volume knob. The claw has no power and therefore it’s almost impossible to pick up anything.
