  • Very Standard Lab Slides, Not Clean Straight Out of Box
This is a very attractively priced box of glass microscope slides, but like very-nearly every box of slides I've ever purchased, they are NOT clean straight out of the box. They are generally unscratched, but they come wrapped in paper inside of a cardboard box. The plastic vacuum sealed bag AROUND the cardboard keeps them from rubbing into each other and breaking, but each slide is covered in lint and dust. I would give them a lower rating if it weren't for the face that I have packages of maybe 6 other brands in front of me and they are all also dusty straight out of the box. Unless you pay some serious money for pre-cleaned ones, then this is just what you'll get. One option for cleaning is a vapor bath, and you can find some great instructions for this on the Applied Science YouTube channel. Below is a short summary of how to do that. Otherwise they're great slides! The process to clean glass microscope slides using a vapor condensation cleaning bath with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) involves the following steps: Fill the bottom of a glass container with a small amount of IPA (isopropyl alcohol). Place a clean glass lid on top of the container, ensuring that the lid is not in contact with the IPA. Place the glass microscope slides on the lid, making sure that they are not touching each other or the lid. Cover the container with a second glass lid, creating a closed chamber. Heat the container very gently to create a vapor inside the chamber. The heat should be sufficient to cause the IPA to evaporate and condense on the slides, but not high enough to cause the IPA to boil. Leave the slides in the chamber for several hours, allowing the vapor to condense and clean the slides. Once the cleaning process is complete, carefully remove the slides from the chamber, taking care not to touch the cleaned surfaces. Rinse the slides with distilled water to remove any remaining traces of IPA. Dry the slides with a lint-free cloth or allow them to air dry. Note: It is important to handle the IPA with care as it is flammable and potentially hazardous. Ensure adequate ventilation and follow all safety precautions when using IPA. ... show more

  • Standard slides but wish they included glass covers
My son has a microscope and loves looking at many different things. They slides are a good standard slide but they did not come with the small disposable cover glass that he also needs. Just something to be aware of since we will now need to purchase those separately. Good product though.

  • Works as advertised
This pack of microscope slides was pretty standard and just as advertised. As someone who has worked in laboratories before I have used several different brands of slides. Nothing significant really stuck out about these slides except their inner packaging. I just LOVED how there was a thin piece of paper in between each slide so they don’t stick to each other. Anyone who knows slides also knows what a pain they can be to pull apart if they end up adhering to one another. And they often do! I have an at-home children’s microscope and was able to use these to wet prep a slide of bread mold for my daughter. They worked really well, weren’t sharp around the edges, and didn’t snap under the scope while we were moving it around. Out of curiosity, I did snap a few on purpose, and they definitely did more of a snap then shatter which is preferable since that means fewer tiny glass shards to hunt down. Overall, I’d say these are a decent product that gets the job done and I’d have loved to have these a few years ago when I was still working in a lab. ... show more

  • Nice Slides
The slides look nice. The box they came in is pretty flimsy. It was wrapped really well, but after I took the bubble wrap off, the boxes holding the slides are very lightweight and not held together the best. I'll have to be careful with these when not in use.

  • Excellent quality
I've had microscope slides that had pock marks, cracks, or powdered glass bonded right into the slide. Things like that aren't a big deal to the naked eye, but under a microscope, it's a huge hassle. These slides are better than that. They have a clean look. They don't have the little "star" cracks that some others have. The edges aren't especially sharp, either. Some uses lend themselves better to slides that have concave indentations in them. But other things are better with a flat slide. These slides are flat. They're better for looking at microbes and very thin cross-sections. They're also easy to clean. ... show more

  • Quality Slides, very clear
You receive 100 slides and keep in mind although it says in the web description that these are precleaned they do have some lint on them so you will have to clean them before each use with isopropyl alcohol. Even when slides were received precleaned I always cleaned them again with alcohol. No problem since we are using them one by one to make slides to view under the microscope. I worked for a laboratory and am now retired. I want to introduce my two elementary school-age grandkids to the world seen under the microscope. All the slides arrived in one piece, they are clear with ground edges. We have used about ten of them (coverslips are not included) and have no complaints as they are performing as expected. ... show more

  • They're microscope slides. What more is there to say?
These are perfectly fine microscope slides that I got for my daughter to begin doing her own slide preps. They glass seems perfectly clear and free of distortions so all in all they're just fine.
