The Birdfy feeder has been amazingly fun to watch so far. We had tried setting up a camera in our yard to capture birds at the feeders but it was never quite close enough or in focus to do the job. This camera gets up close and personal with your backyard bird friends. The pics are very detailed and clear. I love watching the video clips to hear the songs and chatter of our various backyard visitors. Although sadly the videos are only ten seconds long and I couldn't figure out a way to adjust their length. But it does start up new clips right away so may see multiple clips of the same bird visit. I did end up catching a few birds on video that I hardly ever see in our yard such as a blue bird and a red winged blackbird which was a nice surprise. Usually we have very frequent visits at the feeders at our house so the battery did drain quickly. I also had to turn off alerts from the app on my phone because they were almost constant and draining my phone battery quickly. Because of the quick better drain on the Birdfy itself, if you have many bird visitors, I highly recommend this model with the solar panel otherwise taking down the feeder weekly to charge can be inconvenient. I also tried the free trial of the AI to identify birds. Typically the AI eventually got the bird correct but some of the initial alerts from the app were hilariously incorrect. No way do we have wild cockatoos in the midwest US! I think the AI feature has potential but needs some adjusting especially for likely birds at your location. The initial setup for the feeder was super simple overall and it attached securely to a post where we already had feeders with a baffle to deter squirrels and raccoons. The feeder and camera seems pretty sturdy and well built although I do have some concerns about the perch as it seems a bit on the flimsy side. Before installation outside, I did have some difficulty charging the camera but I think I was using the incorrect cable. I never figured out exactly what the precise issue was. But the camera has been charging outdoors with the solar panel just fine. It is also easy to adjust the solar panel separate from the feeder to get a good sun angle. Overall I do recommend the feeder for a fun way to get an up close view of your backyard birds. I think it would be a great gift for someone who may not be able to frequently see and hear the birds outdoors. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Whim purchase and I wish I’d bought much sooner. Video quality excellent. Battery life excellent. App excellent. Just love this and I’m sharing videos with friends/family now because they love the closeups. This records all kinds of bird behaviors I never knew about. The instructions were great and assembly was easy. Charging took a long time at first but the camera battery last forever between charges. The clip recordings are short so the batteries are lasting much longer than my Arlo cameras. This camera still captures everything that’s happening—even with short clips. I do really love the app. I don’t have a cloud setup. Just a memory card in the feeder and the app seems to hold a good amount of footage. The notifications are great and you can set up recording hours and notifications from the app quite easily. I have home security cameras and honestly this was easier to set up and the app performs better. I used one of the home security cameras (arlo) once for bird footage but this is WAY better, and again the app settings and ability to connect are superior on this product. It took the birds no time to use it. Birds as large as cardinals have shown up. Large woodpeckers and blue jays are not visiting so far but I’ve only had it 1 month. I love this purchase so much. Would definitely purchase again. I was afraid the white and blue would be too bright in the yard but maybe it’s helping the birds find it in low light conditions? I never post videos but here you go. Never thought I would enjoy this like I have. Takes beautiful pics/videos. Can’t keep feeder filled. Has drawn more birds than I’ve ever seen in my back yard (many are new to me). Works very well as a security camera. Detects motion on a very wide area and sends notifications to your phone. Would never have thought about how useful the camera is. Would like to get a couple more to hang in trees around property. We did get the solar panel. So far it’s worked seamlessly. ... show more

The feeder and camera are great. Easy to install, fill with seed, and stays charged for a long time even without the solar panel. The picture quality is great! The notification has a significant delay, (may be where I have placed it) but works ok. The Birdfy App, is less than desirable. Difficult to navigate and crashes sometimes. I am getting used to using it but it is frustrating. It is significantly cheaper that others so I suppose you get what you pay for. Overall, I am happy with it for the price. ... show more

I was able to set this up quickly and grab the 2.4 Ghz signal, so this was a big plus compared to another, similar bird feeder + camera I have since returned. PROS: -Keeps charge very well with lithium batteries and solar panel working together -Great camera view and clear picture - Everything is provided to set up the feeder easily and quickly, including squirrel guard -Works seamlessly with phone (audio, visual, lighting, ability to speak and scare a squirrel away) -Abundant settings to set up to own personal liking, mostly very intuitive -Solar panel has long cord and multiple ways to position/attach to ground, building, pole, etc. -Price/value is very good CONS: -This system will attempt to identify birds for you, but it will cost money via a subscription.
