Directions: Our filter pads can be placed directly in your aquarium filter from our bag or, if you prefer, rinse the pad first in clean fresh water. Filter pads need to be replaced on a regular basis; a cardboard template can be made of the filter pad you are replacing. Keep and use this template whenever you need to cut out new filter pads. Since each aquarium is different there is no set time to clean your filter pad. Although most hobbyists rinse the pad every one to two weeks and replace them monthly.

To preface I have a six gallon single betta tank. It's an okay price for the amount of filter material you get, easy to cut but I've had to double up on the amount of material (two layers of each) To keep my tank from getting murky every other day and that's with weekly water changes.     • Great filter, but not for an outdoor pond

This filter material filters really well, but it is too fine a filter for an outdoor pond. If you are using it for an aquarium indoors, it would be great. For an outdoor pond, it fills up very quickly and has to be changed a couple of times a week.

I purchased this for our Mantis Shrimp and by far, it has been the best filter we've used. Our shrimp has one damsel fish and starfish friend. We switch 10% of our water out each week, and this filter helps clear up our water as soon as I turn our pump back on. PLEASE BUY THIS!
