I put this on the wall of my tub, opposite the shower head. The only stud in that wall was in the middle, so I couldn't use it. Used anchors instead & cracked three tiles. Nobody's fault, I guess, but a lot of work for little gain.

since the tile was already hung we could not access the studs, no ankors were with so we were unable to install bar, feel like should have been stressed the need to access studs:(((( the remodel took so long that the window for return has passed:(((((

This bar is effective, provided it is installed properly, of course. We have a large bathtub with a window on the other end, so a strong safety bar makes my wife feel safe and steady when she has to step in and out of the bath to get to the windowsill – the large diameter of the bar contributing greatly to that sense of security. The bar is strong and well-made and does not flex. When you attach the mounting plate to the handrail, make sure that none of the plate holes land up under the bar, as it is near impossible to tighten a screw that’s directly under the bar. I always cover the screw heads with silicone sealer, before putting the trim flange in place, to prevent the screw heads from rusting. I ordered this because it matches the matte black fixtures in our main bath remodel. We are adding partitions to either side of our toilet in the remodel for the express purpose of being able to add grab bars on both sides with a new toilet that will be at comfort height of 19" or more, because my husband is 6'6". I have looked specifically for safety bars for the toilet and the shower that do not look "institutional" and this bar does not disappoint. It is really attractive and really almost looks like a towel bar so it really blends well with our planned look for the room. It is also very substantial, and once installed will more than provide the support and assistance we both need. It is impressive how securely it attaches to the wall studs, and how strongly it holds. I am ordering another one of the same size as well as two more of varying sizes for the shower with confidence that this is exactly what we need and at such a reasonable price. So glad I found these! This grab bar works great and looks nice in the matte black finish. It is a bit different than some other name brand bars and requires a bit more assembly before attaching it to the wall.
