Doorbell relies on its indoor chime signal. keep them within 5 meters (max 10). Avoid the metal doors/thick concrete walls between them; If poor signal shows in the app, move the indoor chime closer to doorbell or use a power outlet for it. Can I connect this doorbell to my existing traditional chime? No. This doorbell is designed to work with the included 95dB chime for optimal performance and compatibility. Why is my G410 draining the battery so quickly? It requires Alkaline 1.5V LR6 battery, don't use rechargeable 1.2V Ni-MH batteries or mix old & new batteries. I’ve been using the Aqara Smart Doorbell Camera G410 for a while now, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best smart home purchases I’ve made. As someone who has invested heavily in the Apple Home ecosystem, I wanted a doorbell that worked seamlessly with Apple HomeKit Secure Video without forcing me into another monthly subscription. If you are like me, you researched A LOT before buying a smart doorbell for your home. I was in the boat where I had no smart home products already and wanted a good doorbell that integrated well with Apple Homekit since that is the platform I wanted to use. I didn't have the budget for an entire home setup, but wanted a brand that had decent reviews on cameras and other products if I wanted to add to my smart home later on. I have been using this doorbell for about a month and have really enjoyed being able to see my front door for Amazon packages and visitors. I hardwired mine so I can't speak to its battery life, but the picture quality is great and viewing angle is decent. I do wish I was able to see more of the ground so I can check when packages have been delivered as sometimes they can be placed JUST out of frame, but it is such an insignificant issue that it doesn't bother me 98% of the time. My favorite part is that I do not have to pay the monthly subscription for cloud service since I already pay for 2TB of Apple iCloud (another reason I went with this doorbell). It is pretty quick and I have not run into many issues with it lagging or taking some time to catch up, but I have run into the heat issues when the doorbell is in direct sunlight in the evening hours. I'll cut the doorbell some slack though since it has been over 100 degrees several days out of the week recently so even without the direct sunlight, it's still plenty hot. One thing that I wish I knew, and it was probably my fault for misunderstanding the way the camera records, is that it does not record 24/7 footage in Apple Homekit. It will record snippets as the camera detects people, animals, packages, vehicles, etc., and store those in the cloud, but it is not continuous footage. Overall, I would recommend this camera over something like the Ring camera simply because it works natively with Apple Homekit if that is the platform that you are interested in using.

The good, it's easy to setup, real easy. I have it hooked up with wired power and batteries since the last doorbell I tried out would constantly reset due to power issues. It has solved that problem. It was no hassle setup with Apple Home. It has a few fun features. The bad, If you have a problem, there is literally no documentation on troubleshooting. Their tech support is by email and I seriously doubt the people handling it on their end know anything since they keep saying they'll pass it on to the technicians. Along with their chat bot that is just a glorified sales bot really makes me wonder if they even have support technicians. Their only answer is reset it and it will fix everything, which it does not. The ugly, the video when the sun is up. When the sun is shining behind the person, you see no detail, just a black silhouette, Face ID doesn't work like that and you can't make out any details on who it is as the door. the Vertical Field of View is crap, if you don't install it at about shoulder height you won't see anyones face, they cut off at the shoulders. Most of the time when it records, all you get is a view of their butt as they walk away, since it doesn't start recording until they are at the door most of the time. It can't tell the difference between people, pets or packages. so far it's missed all package deliveries since around here amazon tends to toss them at the door.

This is my second Aqara battery doorbell because I want something that supports HomeKit natively, since Eufy does not offer this for their doorbell. I previously had the G4 for a few days but returned it due to battery drain. I'm trying again with the Aqara doorbell and am looking for the right linger detection setting. I already own Aqara sensors, which have been reliable, so I expected the cameras to perform similarly, but it has proven to be a bit more complicated. In addition to HomeKit, I have it connected to Alexa and Google Home. In Google Home, the only option available is voice notification, which Eufy doesn’t have. The model number is CH-C09E/CH-C09D, and it cannot be viewed as a camera. I’ve seen another user report this issue, and I would like to receive notifications when the doorbell is pressed, but voice notification is currently the only option available. In Alexa, it appears correctly as a doorbell with all the proper options. In HomeKit, it shows up, but the timeline feature is not available. In the Aqara app, it is displayed correctly with all the doorbell options, but I dislike that they are pushing their AI and cloud subscription on me. My Homebridge Eufy plugin stopped working, which is why I chose this option, but I’m not 100% satisfied. The pros of the Aqara doorbell include native HomeKit support and the battery option. However, my cons include its large design, the screw position, non-rechargeable battery, lack of true motion detection, the layout of the Aqara app, absence of a timeline in HomeKit, and needing the chime. The Eufy battery doorbell was almost perfect, except for the lack of full Google Home and HomeKit support. I will give the Aqara doorbell a shot over the weekend to decide whether I will keep it.

Easy to setup, quality video feed, simple to use. Integrates well with Apple Home. Does a good job of triggering when there is motion and identifying lingering presences. Worth the little more than other brands. Love that the SD card is in the chime instead of the doorbell, so if someone tampers with it or steals it, you still have the video.

This doorbell works as advertised, actually better. I have tried Arlo (2 different models), August, MyQ (the worst), Ecobee, Belkin WeMo (2nd worst), Logitech (overheats all day in the summer and goes offline several times a week that sometimes requires a power cycle), and now Aqara. Finally a doorbell designed to respond quickly. All of the others took a minimum of 15 seconds (MyQ was a minimum of 45 seconds and sometimes not at all) to alert my phone and then most of them would not display the video for an additional 15 seconds or longer. Most times the person would have left by the time I was able to interact, so I would just have to go to the door to see who it was if I was home and ignore the doorbell interaction. The Aqara, displays a live video alert on my TV through Apple TV, on my phone, and Mac, so whatever I have access to at the moment, I can react quickly, it's as close to realtime as you can expect. I have a 1.5Gbs fiber internet connection with a Orbi 970 router located about 10 line of site feet from the front door. So a strong connection to all the doorbells. I could get about 850Gbs on a speed test outside at the doorbell location. Support from all of the previous doorbells often suggested my wifi was the problem until I explained my wifi. Checking online after I discovered each doorbell was underperforming, I discovered I wasn't alone with the issues I was having. This was why I kept trying new doorbells as they came out. I should have waited until others tried them and reported how they worked, but I was always so frustrated with the current doorbell, that I jumped at the chance to get a "better" one. None were better, until now! You can set alerts to trigger with just motion, before the doorbell is pressed, or if someone is lingering on your porch. The G410 uses mmWave for detection which is much more reliable than standard IR motion detectors and helps avoid false motion alerts created by wind blowing the leaves on the trees and other movement that isn't a person, animal, car or package. It also offer facial detection and will offer a name on the notification if it recognizes a known individual (you can assign names to faces it detects). It works flawlessly with Apple Home, and is listed to work with the other major players. Installation was a snap. I'm using it direct wired, but you can optionally use batteries if you don't have a previously wired doorbell. If you're thinking about another doorbell, beware! I'm just one perspective, but the most important aspect of a video doorbell to me, is the speed the of notification and being able to promptly interact with the person at the door, if they can't do that, they shouldn't be on the market. None of the others I've tried come close to Aqara G410, it's in a league of it's own!!!

I researched and researched the best devices for video smart doorbell for the Apple Home system. Everything I read pointed me to this device. This is a great device. Build strong with seemingly solid parts and components. It seems to weather the storms outside. But it was a literal simple to get working with the WiFi network. My only complaint with the Aqara Smart Doorbell Camera is that the picture taken is not a full body picture. Once the person steps close to the door, its not even half the person. It just seems this was the cross they died on to get a product out the door. Just seems lazy. We’ll see if I keep it.

It really hurts me to leave this review because I have loved all of my Aqara products that I have purchased recently. Everything was going well with this product; I had installed it it and it was working great. But when I had to change out the batteries, the side screw that locks the Doorbell camera in place so it can not be easily stolen got stuck/stopped working properly. In order to get it off, I had to brute force it. While I was able to get it removed, the casing is all bent and scratched up now, and the side locking screw no longer works. So I can no longer lock it in place. If someone wanted, they could easily remove it. I am hesitant to do anything else to make it more secure because I still have to remove it to change the batteries. I am very disappointed because the doorbell camera looks really good, but now that it is all scratched up and bent, it looks ugly, and I have to worry about someone taking it. I really want to give it more stars because I love the doorbell and all the options it has. I can save footage directly to my home NAS while also using an SD card and cloud. I can customize my ringtone; pretty much any MP3 can be used, so the options are limitless. The ability to bind with other Aqara smart home products is genius. While checking who is at the door, I can unlock it right away since I also have an Aqara lock. Without having to switch to another app or section of the same app, right from the viewing screen, I can click unlock to let the person in. It is so awesome. I am surprised more smart home products dont allow this. I dont know if I just got unlucky with the side screw or if it is a design flaw. I have not come across any other reviews or customers that have mentioned it, so it might just be a one-off. But it's a pretty big one-off. I will have to think about whether I want to replace it or try another product. IKk will update when I make a choice. It's too late to return it to Amazon at this time, or I would have already done that.
