Customer service was very responsive and helpful with troubleshooting ideas but I could not get the dispenser to work properly so I asked for a return and refund. This is a nice ice maker with a water dispenser, but the cold water button is very easy to accidentally turn on. Also this water dispenser works with 2, 3 and 5 gallon water bottles that have tops that you can pierce open in the middle. I found separate caps with this feature so that I can use my own water bottles and not have to get the water from a delivery service. After we pulled the dispenser from the box we had to let it sit for two hours before we plug it in and use it. While I was waiting for the two hours to pass I started the set up of the dispenser according to the instructions. There was a lot of wiping down and washing of all the removable and internal parts, which was fine with me, but then the real cleaning came. I had to pour water with a mild cleaning solution into the dispenser and then drain it multiple times. This took almost an hour to do, and it requires regular cleanings like this with vinegar to keep the unit from getting mineral buildup in it. Once everything was done and the wait over, I plugged the dispenser in and put the water on top. The I began picking the settings I wanted. There are two water buttons and a child lock button on top of the water dispenser. These top buttons turn the water on and off, and will keep dispensing water until you turn them off. I prefer the type of buttons that have to be held down to dispense the water. Especially for homes with kids in the household. The main water button dispenses room temperature or cold water, depending on if you turn on the cold water feature. It turns on very easily and should have a lock button it. I was cleaning the top of the dispenser and accidentally turned the button on when the paper towel went over it, and water came pouring out and made a mess. I now keep a cup under the water spout just in case. The hot water button has a child lock on it, but it just takes one long press of it first to turn it off and then hit the hot water button and it will dispense the hot water. You can turn off the hot water option with the front button controls, but again it’s very easy for a child to press this button and turn the hot water back on too. This is a nice ice maker and water dispenser, but there are some issues you should consider first before getting this dispenser with young children in your home. On the front of the water dispenser there are three buttons that you can set the water buttons temperature with, and turn the ice maker on and off. I selected my settings and within twenty to thirty minutes I heard the ice being dumped into the ice maker. It was full a couple of hours later. The cold water was nice and cold, and the hot water was a good hot temperature. The ice is a good size and round shape, and I like the size of it in my drinks. The ice maker is also good if you have the water set to room temperature. All you have to do for cold water is put the ice in it.

So far, I've been pleasantly surprised by the Antarctic Star 3-in-1 Hot and Cold Water Cooler Dispenser with Built-in Ice Maker. I've always wanted a water dispenser for access to clean, cold water, but never took the plunge. Having the ice making and hot water feature has proven more than just icing on the cake, they're genuinely useful features. For anyone that wants the functions of a modern refrigerator, without investing in a refrigerator, and has a small space they can dedicate to the water dispenser (needs to be at least six inches from wall boundaries), this is a product worth considering. The looks aren't anything overtly stylish or intricate, however, the simple color and rounded edges are pleasing, and appear universally applicable to any room. The water temperature of both the cold and hot water is spot on. Both are not too cold or too hot, they're right at the temperature before they cross uncomfortable peaks. Whatever they did to dial in the temperatures when designing and manufacturing this water dispenser, it was successful, in my opinion. The ice making option is also a surprising, but welcomed addition. They are made with a hole in the center to maximize surface area exposure. Once initiated, the ice making gets right to work, producing ice quickly, and finally filling the compartment within an hour I'd say (though I haven't actually time it). The only thing I might prefer, is if all of the buttons were illuminated. Unless there is a way to change it (I haven not found out how to), only the child lock button illuminates. I'd occasionally like to use the unit in low light without having to turn lights on. Also, it is demonstrably louder than a refrigerator, so that's something to keep in mind for prospective buyers. Not obnoxiously so, but I am aware of it at times. All of the little details, like a silicone mat that sits in the ice making compartment, the hot water child lock, the provided ice cube scoop and the responsive buttons, paired with the reliable and high performing unit, all contribute to a highly satisfying product. I like products I have confidence in, and after a month or so, my confidence hasn't wavered.
