This small, relatively light unit packs a ton of functionality into something that is less than a foot wide and three feet high. It fits comfortably in the corner of our storage room with six inches of breathing space to allow it to vent. In this small footprint you get a water cooler, water heater with childproof lock, and an ice maker below the drip tray with its own door and ice scoop. That's a lot of features packed into something smaller than my kitchen garbage can. The cooling and heating elements work well, although I really don't use it for hot water. When active you can hear a slight hum from the compressor, but it is not loud is generally drowned out by any other background noise in the house. It is also as close to plug and play as it comes. Just remove it from the box (it comes in one piece), remove some plastic sheeting and tape, clean it (which takes the most time since there are numerous parts and reservoirs that need to be drained afterwards), plug it in, and place a water jug on top. We're using a 5 gallon jug, and it fits fine--the unit is stable and should not tip over as long as it is on level ground and no one does anything stupid or careless. For the most part, the machine is made of plastic, so I am unsure about its longevity, but everything seems to be made well. For the price, you get a well made, full featured water dispenser that should serve you for years with standard care. So, it represents good value for the money, especially since we are filling our jugs from a local spring. I am quite happy with this.

I've had a water cooler/heater in my home for years & was considering a second for my home gym. I selected the Antarctic Star and it is absolutely fabulous! It provides cold & hot water with the tap of a button & having ice always available sets this dispenser apart. The unit has surface buttons to engage dispensing - so much better than levers. A simple tap of the button starts the flow, and another stops it with a second button necessary to release the hot water for safety. The front has 3 push buttons so one can decide if they want the heater on (I turn it off during summer months to save energy), the chilled water on, and/or the ice making feature. Speaking of ice, I applaud the ice this unit makes. I purchased a separate counter top ice maker just to make a particular style of ice for a frozen drink machine - and this dispenser makes ice in the exact same style. The unit also includes a silicon mat to quiet the fall of the ice - every aspect has been considered. As for its noise level, it's nearly silent - impressive. In terms of set up, it is easy but the instructions should be followed as they explain how to clean & flush the unit prior to use. The only, very minor, "issue" is the sticker above the water tray (see photo). I didn't find it aesthetically pleasing in the least & it is not easy to remove. It took label remover solution, a scraper, and a cleaning solution to take it off. Once removed, the unit does look exactly as it is pictured in the description. Overall, I am very pleased and impressed with the design & functionality of this dispenser.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: So far, the performance has been excellent. The hot and cold water functions work perfectly without any issues. I especially love the built-in ice maker — it's a standalone ice maker, so the ice tastes clean and fresh, unlike the ice from a refrigerator. It's also super convenient and fast! We're using a 5-gallon water bottle with it, and installation was very simple. No leaks or looseness at all so far. The child safety lock is also very well designed. It's positioned in a way that makes it hard for kids to reach or operate, which gives us great peace of mind.

It has good quality and a suitable size. It runs quietly, keeps the water cool, and also produces ice efficiently. It would be even better if the water source were relocated to the bottom for easier refilling and if it offered options for different ice sizes. Regardless, it works well and offers great value for the price. Overall, I’m satisfied with its performance. Easy to use and weight is good too.
