The sturdy dough hook is designed for dryer, heavier doughs and kneads by stretching, pulling, and folding the dough around the hook as the bowl turns. Also includes a 3.5 liter Double Beater Bowl made from BPA/BPS FREE Tritan plastic, a durable plastic that is safe to use with boiling sugar syrup and will not leave a fatty residue after whipping cream. Includes a set of multi-wire balloon whisks, perfect for cream, egg whites, meringue, marshmallows and any other light batter you wish to whip and aerate. Also included, is a set of single-wire whips, designed for light batters and soft cookie dough. The speed control knob allows for a seamless transition from 45 to 130 RPM, and the electronic speed sensor automatically adjusts motor torque to the load. The On/Off knob is also a 12 minute timer, so it will do its work while you do other tasks, stopping when you want it to. • A mixer that’s so advanced, people actually believe I cook well. A mixer that’s so advanced, people actually believe I cook well.
What can I say? This mixer is hands down the best non-commercial bread mixer that’s ever been made. It’s pricey. It has a learning curve. But it’s also worth all the time and money. It isn’t a planetary mixer like all the rest ; therefore you have to learn how to ensure there’s enough friction between the spinning bowl and the contents within, throughout the process. But once you figure it out, it’ll be hard going forward to make bread without it ever again. In a nutshell, the reason for its popularity is because it combines the mixing and kneading processes into one. But that requires a change of mindset along with a bit of practice. The resulting dough comes out so buttery-smooth at times it resembles a cake mix more than bread dough. The dough is simply smoother, stronger and better consistently than dough from any other mixer. Of course the dedicated mixing bowl and wisks are amazing - but that feature can be obtained by purchasing a Braun for a lot less. It’s the bread kneader and scraper combo which sets it apart. It’s so amazing that almost everyone I know has been deceived into believing in an cook well. Due to this mixer. And no, that’s not a joke nor an exaggeration. ... show more

  • Great Machine
Love this mixer especially for the 7 year warranty. It did take a few times to get used to it because it runs so different from the Kitchen Aid. Took time getting used to the roller. Pros: motor is on the bottom and actually spins the bowl rather than the motor being on top and used to spin the beater. I like that the arm moves with the dough. I keeps the dough from getting stuck between the beater and bowl and burning it out. Which is what happened with my kitchen aid. It has a timer and the controls are easy to use. The attachments are easy to put on and take off. Love the bowl lid. Cleans up quick. Con: I don't like the plastic mising bowl. Too much work getting dough and frosting put. It has a post in the center that I think is just in the way. They should have a wisker attachment that goes on just like the roller does. Simple. Would I recommend this item or buy again....most definitely! Thr price is worth it for having a 7 year warranty. ... show more

  • Amazing mixer
Before you buy this, you've got to ask yourself two questions. Do I need a stand mixer? Do I need this obviously pricy one? I needed a stand mixer because I wanted to make things that I didn't want to do by hand and which bogged down our hand held mixer. I picked this one because of the ratings. So far I've made doughs, cookies, and whipped dips with this machine. It has done them all well. It is very stable and doesn't walk across the counter like some older stand mixers. It seems to have plenty of power. The speed control is easy to use and smoothly ramps from low to high. There's a timer on the on switch which is a useful convenience, though you never have to use it. Despite its power it doesn't seem to be quite as heavy as competing brands, and seems to be shorter. The mostly wide open top on the mixing bowls provides lots of room for adding ingredients as well as scraping the sides of the bowl when necessary without removing the hook, roller, or whisks (as appropriate). So far it has no issues. The cost made me gasp a bit, but the quality seems to be there. ... show more

  • Be sure to watch a few You Tube videos Be sure to watch a few You Tube videos
This is such a different animal than other brand name mixers. The bowl turns instead of the hooks and paddles. It is almost old school, as you can adjust the speed easily and all the different attachments click in place like leggo pieces. The metal bowl is mostly for bread making and anything that has to be kneaded. The plastic bowl is for lighter things, such as cookie dough and whipped cream. I have made dough for five loaves of bread at once and the machine is not even phased. There is a dough hook and a dough roller-type attachment. You just have to decide which you like best. You can stir inside the bowl while the mixer is running since there are no moving attachments, only the bowl moving. It's very easy to add ingredients because of the wide mouth. I thought I had made a big purchasing mistake at first, but after a few hours of learning how to use it I would be hard pressed to give it up. All I can say is, it's a very different piece of machinery that you have to learn to use. After that, you've got a nice workhorse that turns out great results. ... show more

  • excellent mixer
Having been raised on KitchenAids, this mixer is a revelation. Much better mixing and kneading than Ive achieved before and has really elevated my baking more than anything else Ive ever done. Its a bit counter-intuitive to set up but once you review a few u-tube videos, it all makes sense and is easy to put together for a variety of mixing activities. Built like a tank, easy to clean and actually quite beautiful for a kitchen appliance. Expensive but well worth it and doubt Ill ever need another mixer. ... show more

  • Awesome mixer, powers through sourdough!
I bought this for my wife for Christmas. She said, it is definitely a little bit of a learning curve to it, make sure to watch some videos before mixing. Make sure to mix your wet ingredients before slowly adding the dry ingredients. She said it's very pretty and looks great on the counter, and can't wait to add some of the attachments to her arsenal. ... show more

  • cheap plastic pieces - potential health hazard cheap plastic pieces - potential health hazard
This machine is not worth its price. I barely used it, especially the plastic mixing bowl. Today I decided to use the plastic bowl and cookie whisk. During mixing I noticed loud cracking noise. I turned the machine off and noticed small plastic pieces in the batter. Shame on Ankarsrum for using cheap plastic to make an expensive machine that is supposed to last. I wonder how many people consume plastic accidentally coming from their Ankarsrum. The plastic gear and other plastic pieces should be replaced with metal parts. ... show more

  • Not self-explanatory!
I bought this mixer because I had a Kitchen Aid that I used to make bread doughs and kneading so many doughs broke the lock lever. I wanted a mixer that would both mix dough without worrying about breaking it and also could still be used for all the other things we used our Kitchen Aid for - whipping cream, cakes, cookies, mashed potatoes, etc. First, I would say the mixer is very quiet when making bread and seems strong enough for bread dough. It isn't a "put it in and forget it" mixer but if standing by making sure everything is getting mixed for the first part is done, it does a nice job on the kneading part on the timer. Using the bread dough bowl is very quiet, but the mixer is very loud when the plastic bowl is used, at least louder than the Kitchen aid. I have been very pleased with the quality of bread doughs and it is a lovely attractive mixer to have sitting in the kitchen. I watched a lot of videos to get a feel for how to use it for dough but once I made 20+ doughs it's as quick as the kitchen aid and makes a larger volume dough with better smoothness so I don't have to make so many batches. That said, I definitely prefer my Kitchen aid for most other things. The whipping of whipped cream is very fast and egg whites as well, and I think this mixer does those better. But for ease of cleaning and scraping the bowl, the plastic mixing bowl is messier and more difficult to clean. I was pretty hard on my Kitchen aid mixer so having to always make sure the butter is soft etc has been a bit of a pain. I would say the mixing is as good or better but cleanup is longer with more moving parts. I wanted only one appliance in my kitchen and I feel this is an excellent dough maker, so it is worth the trade off for not being as handy for other things. The only thing I haven't tried yet is mashed potatoes but everything else I normally make in my mixer worked well. The biggest downside is that the Kitchen aid was self-explanatory so my husband used it all the time. Now with the Anksarsrum being so much more complicated, he doesn't touch it (I guess more accurately I forbade him to touch it without watching the video first) and I have to do all the cooking he used to use it for! If dough is your main thing, this is a great mixer. If you rarely make bread doughs, then I would say the Kitchen aid is a better buy - very durable, easy to clean up and no instruction required. ... show more
