  • Game Changer in the Kitchen!
The media could not be loaded. This mixer is a dream! It’s powerful, quiet, and beautifully made. It handles dough, batters, and everything in between with ease. The design is stunning and the color matches perfectly with all my kitchen supplies.

  • Am I actually becoming a baker, at almost 60 years old?
I have a lifelong (almost 60 years) history of being utterly incapable of baking the most simple of things. I have no problem with cooking - having spent many years in F&B and even had my own catering venture for a few years. But baking...is a science and a mystery that I've never solved. Muffins that could easily be used as hockey pucks...angel food cake that could be bench-pressed to bulk up..."just add water" brownies that remained chocolate soup, even after being in the oven for hours. Consistent disaster after disaster...decade after decade Several friends purchased Kitchen Aid mixers and sung their praises, but I steadfastly avoided all discussion of getting one myself. Then, recently, I got caught up binge-watching several seasons of the Great British Baking Show - and after witnessing hour after hour after hour, of those shiny wonder-widgets cranking out wondrous concoctions of mere bits of sugar, butter, flour and eggs...I decided I HAD to have one! And now that it has arrived and I've had a chance to play for a few weeks, I am enthralled with it! It is a BEAST of a professional grade machine that takes all the hard work out of blending, mixing, creaming, whipping, kneading... and a breeze to clean up, once all the whirring and blurring is done! It's a home version of a Hobart and I couldn't love it more! I find myself actively seeking out new and fun things to try, and look forward to each weekend to see if I can actually achieve a reasonable facsimile You can take the girl out of the restaurant industry, but you can't take the restaurant industry out of the girl - everything in my kitchen is commercial quality, and always stainless steel, white or clear glass - and my Kitchenaid is no exception. Went with Contour Silver as my color choice and it's absolutely perfect! Also love the ability to expand capabilities with additional accessories. I've already added a clear glass bowl with pourer and measurement markings - and the flex edge beater with the scraper. I'm thinking the grinder attachment might be next. I know I'm a recent and late newcomer to the stand mixer party - but I am an enthusiastic and dedicated devotee. And now I"m off to make something scrummy On your marks...get set...BAKE!!! ... show more

  • Fantastic!
I have never owned a good quality stand mixer. Because I caught this on sale, I purchased it. I have only used it twice so far, but can say that it it is powerful and very sturdy. It mixed up sausage ball dough perfectly (that contains sausage, cheese, and bisquick, no liquid). It made this recipe a breeze , unlike my history of struggling through while using my comparatively substandard mixer. Highly recommend this mixer. ... show more

  • It's great, I expected more power
IThis is a great machine, it does everything it says and does it fast and well, and is quieter than the $29 electric hand mixer.. Clean up is easy, the hardest part is getting any food residue out from the planetary gear cover area, which is where the attachments attach to. Other than that is literally wipes clean. Bowl is light and easy to clean and maneuver, and locks in place pretty well. Attachments clean up very easily as well and as long as you don't adjust the head height too low allowing the paddle to tough the bowl you should experience no wear on the coating. The mix head lock leaver does not move fully forward but i had no issues with it coming undone. The head does bounce quite a bit when mixing dough and its performance on dough is the reason for 4 stars. My only disappointment, sort of, is that i feel like it is underpowered for making dough. The motor sounds like it's struggling with a 2lb dough mix as the dough hook presses/kneads the dough against the bowl. I'd RECOMMEND testing any dough recipe with 1LB first before increasing the volume of ingredients. It mixed and kneaded the dough well but it is hard to tell at what point the plastic drive gear will strip. According to what i have read, the gearbox is all metal but the drive gear is a reinforced plastic gear that is designed to fail to prevent motor damage if you over load the mixer. I'd much rather see some other form of protection, rather then relying on a cheap gear, as a failsafe which is a pain in the @$$ to change. Pro models have an over current protection or similar failsafe which does not require something breaking to protect the motor... Since the majority of my baking is 90% soft goods i can live with smaller batches of the occasional dough's i make. Gone are the days of using 1 hand to hold a mixer and trying to add ingredients with the other, no more fatigue in your arm from long mixing session, it just make life so much easier and allows you to focus on your recipes. ... show more
