Features

  • 4-blade reel mower with a cutting width of 14 and durable 8.5 polymer wheels for maximum maneuverability. Lightweight at only 19 pounds. Reel Lawn Mowers are great for small lawns..Deluxe hand-reel mower ideal for most turf grasses.
  • This push lawn mower has an adjustable blade height of 0.5-1.75. Capable of cutting grass up to 4 inches tall and is less effective on taller grass.
  • Manual grass cutter is environment-friendly alternative to other lawn mowers. This push mower is pollution-free, noise-free, low maintenance, lightweight and easy to use.
  • A reel mower uses a cutting action that does not bruise or damage the blades of grass. For best results using a reel push mower, mow no more than 1/3 of the grass blade, so that the roots stay intact.
  • Increase the amount of overlap while using your push mower if your lawn reaches a height of 4 inches or more. Its better to mow smaller amounts more frequently than it is to let the grass get long. Try not reel mower when the grass is wet.

  • Great little mower! Great little mower!
Size: 14" 4 blade
I have never used one of these before until today. This is a great little mower! Very quick and easy to put together. Lightweight. If the grass is too long it wants to push it over instead of cut it. It has to be pretty long for that to happen though. I had to go over some spots again where it missed a few pieces, but overall it did a really good job! Easy to use and fun to listen to the noise it makes when it's cutting. You have to do a good job of picking up any tiny little sick though because it's even the smallest twig will stop you in your tracks. That wasn't that big a deal though. I would definitely recommend this! Also, the four blade is actually better than the five blade if you have any kind of weeds or taller grass. The five blade does a more thorough job, but only if you have really nice grass and you mow really often. ... show more

  • Highly reccomend! Highly reccomend!
Size: 14" 4 blade
Okay first of all, I'd just like to say that I am autistic, and I absolutely LOATHE mowing the lawn. The mower is too loud, the vibrating of the handle makes my arms go numb, and I can never quite pull on the cord hard enough to get it started by myself. I always have to find someone else to turn it on for me. And not to mention the fact that the smell of gasoline gives me a headache. So I finally decided to see if any old-fashioned mowers still existed, because I would much rather deal with something slower and time-consuming if it meant I wouldn't have to deal with using a normal lawn mower. Imagine my surprise when I found that there are /new/ manual lawnmowers, and I can just order them from Amazon! So I decided I had nothing left to lose, and I would give it a try. Best. Decision. EVER. NOTE OF ADVICE: If you have difficulty putting it together (specifically, attaching the handle to the blade part), find someone with more upper-body strength to help you. They'll get it done in two seconds. (it took me half an hour of attempting to do so before I gave up and waited for my sister to get home so she could help me) Also: it only cuts while you're pushing it forward, so all you have to do to move it when you're not cutting is to pull it along behind you. As for cutting grass? I love it. It works perfectly, aside from a few snags on branches that I didn't notice. If you move it forward and back a few times, you can cut even tall weeds! Much easier than pulling them out by hand in the areas that the normal gas mower can't reach. It's not silent, but it's also not the deafening roar of a gas mower. If I had to describe the sound, I'd say it's a whooshing sound, and much much quieter than a gas mower. Plus, you don't have to deal with your arms vibrating or constantly having to turn the mower back on! No more buying gas, no more struggling to pull on the cord hard enough to turn the mower on, and no more complicated wire-pulling to turn it off. All I have to do is push forward, and the grass gets cut. Stop walking, and it stops cutting. It's easy to maneuver, and it's not so heavy that I can't pick it up and carry it up a flight of stairs to my porch if I need to. I'm never using a gas mower again. ... show more

  • Efficient, cost effective, easy to use Efficient, cost effective, easy to use
Size: 14" 4 blade
This was a backyard game saver ! I have a very hilly and tiered backyard with rock retaining walls- virtually impossible to get a lawnmower up and down and after moving into my house I could not figure out how to keep the grass trimmed acceptably and my shoulders rebelled against continuously using the Weed whacker. Then I found this magical, lightweight beast. It’s not perfect- I have not been able to use it pushing it because it catches on every teeny tiny twig. However, the trick is to pull it backwards and bypass the weird level rolling thing. I still haven’t been able to figure out if it’s adjustable or not but if it is it’s beyond my capabilities. Just tilt it up and pull it backwards and it trims everything. This truly has been one of my favorite purchases this summer. It’s also been effective for small patches of grass that needed trimmed in the dead of summer when the majority of the grass has died down. Much easier to pull out my nifty push mower on those small spots then get out the lawnmower. 4 stars because I can’t push it without it getting stuck on every tiny twig. ... show more

  • Is it as good as it looks? YES!
Size: 16-Inch, 5-Blade
I LOVE this mower. It reminds me of cutting our yard when I was a kid. Things I like: it's not too heavy, it was easy to put together, it's very sturdy, it does a nice job unless the grass is too tall, (which motivates me to keep the grass cut), no gas or electric cords required, it's great exercise for my arms, the grass doesn't shoot out to the side all over the patio or sidewalk, and the sound it makes is so soothing. I let my grandson try it out over the weekend. He liked it so much that he cut my whole back yard with it! He loved the sound it makes. He also liked that you can just pick it up and turn it around, saying that was easier than turning my electric mower. He likes to work smart, not hard! I would not have thought to do it like that, but he's right. It will get stuck on little sticks, but that's not much of a bother. Make sure to oil the blades after you use it so it stays nice! I'm very happy with it and am sure it will last me a long time. Solid purchase for me!! ... show more

  • I'M SUPER HAPPY WITH THIS MOWER
Size: 14" 4 blade
I only bought this thing because I was tired of taking a gas can to the gas station. This solved that problem, but it also solved other problems that I didn't even think of. Before I continue, let me say that I understood when I bought this that it's not going to leave the lawn looking as good as it does with a power mower, but it comes close . . a LOT closer than I thought! As far as it solving other problems, I used to have to worry about which direction I was pointing the mower in case I hit a rock or something that could end up flying through a window, or hurting somebody. I don't have to worry about that anymore. That alone made this worth buying for me. If I hit something like a sprinkler head, it doesn't destroy the head and the blade, but rather, everything just stops. It's safe for a kid to use with no worries. I can grab the upright part of the handle and just lift it up and over stuff like I do with a vacuum cleaner, which means no more having to move stuff around in the garage so I can dig out the mower. I just lift it up and walk right out the front door if I want. The people in my neighborhood that drive electric vehicles praise me for "going green" (I didn't tell them I only bought it because I was fed up with getting gas cans filled) Tip: If it doesn't cut a piece of grass on the first pass , back up and go across it slowly to give the blade a chance to grab the grass. (It's not like that is constantly happening, just once in a while. For super-stubborn weeds, park the mower blades directly above the weed and then spin in a stationary circle . . like you're trying to drill a hole) Update: I've had the mower for over a year now and I am extremely satisfied with it. It actually stopped working today (the blades quit spinning). It turns out it is SUPER easy to fix. All that was wrong was some dirt got inside the wheel casings and caused a pin to freeze up. The good news is there are only 4 parts. A "C" clip, a wheel, a gear, and a pin. Remove the C-clip and slide the wheel off, then slide the gear off. Then pull the pin out with your fingers. Spray everything (the pin and inside the hole) with WD-40 to remove the dirt. Slide the pin back in, then replace the gear, the wheel, and the clip, and you are done! It only took about 10 mins and that's with me making a mistake and having to do the first side over again. (The mistake is I put the pin in backwards. The "Inclined surface" or "Ramp" side goes to the front. You'll see what I mean. Take a picture before you pull the pin out if you are worried) The mower works perfect again! Good as new! Now I know how to do all the maintenance on it (and so do you now) Plus I bought a blade sharpener from Amazon when I bought the mower. It works perfect. • Doesn't mow taller grass or weeds
Size: 14" 5 blade
This is a a very good mower but... It doesn't work well for tall grass or weeds. It just folds them over and doesn't cut them unless you mess around a lot. If you keep your grass shorter then this mower is fine...

  • Skeptical but pleasantly surprised
Size: 18-Inch, 5-Blade
I've been eyeing different push reel mowers for over a year now and what stopped me from getting one was the lack of what I consider to be a highly rated option out there (~4.4+ stars) This was about the best I could find and I just wasn't sure it would work very well. Well, I finally decided to drop the $87 and give it a shot because my current mower (a corded electric 20" Greenworks) I picked up last year is getting to be too much of a hassle carting the cord around. It works great and I don't have much to complain about but constantly repositioning the cord easily adds 10 minutes to an otherwise ~30-35 minute job for my lawn. While I think a battery-powered electric mower would be the optimal option (certainly the fastest) I think they're just too expensive. Not to mention if the battery needs to be replaced a couple years down the road, the batteries alone can cost $150 apiece. So, enter the 18" 5-blade "American" Reel Lawn Mower. I've only given it one workout on the lawn but it worked fine. I didn't time it but I'd guess it went maybe 5 minutes faster overall than my 20" Greenworks. I expect once I get used to using it, it will save me close to 10 minutes over using the Greenworks, cutting the mowing job down from ~45 minutes to close to 35. It's not difficult to push, but if you have lots of sticks in your yard, I can definitely see that becoming an irritation because they'll stop the blades until you clear it out. The cut won't be as clean overall compared to a motored lawnmower. You will look back over a section of lawn that you mowed and there will be blades sticking up here and there that got pushed over rather than cut. There will be areas you'll need to go over twice because instead of it just being a few blades, it will be decent-sized swaths that got pushed over and clearly need to be mowed again. The blades don't turn when you pull the mower back toward you, so it's only going to cut moving forward. Also, pulling the mower back toward you can be a pain because the mower will often tilt backward forcing the blades and big wheels into the air as you drag it along the tiny rollers in the back. However, I actually had less problems pushing through tall thick-grass patches than I did when using my Greenworks mower, which oftentimes died getting through these areas. Something I didn't really account for before purchasing it was the distance between the outside edge of the wheels and the edge of the blades. It's pretty considerable, so the closest you'll be able to get to an obstacle (such as a fence) is probably 4-5" or so, requiring you to come back through and clean up with a weed eater. This is in contrast to most motored mowers with blades that usually clear out a path close to the width of the wheels, leaving much less edging to clean up afterward. I didn't find it to be much of a problem, though, because my weed eater clears out an area about 10" in diameter, so if I'm clearing an unmowed edge 1-2" wide or 4-5" wide, I still get it all in one pass. I never used the bagger on my Greenworks mower because I don't like stopping to empty it every 5 minutes. I always leave the side chute open but the downside to this was that it regularly got clogged up and would launch out giant piles of grass clippings that can smother and kill grass if you don't spread it out afterward. This reel mower eliminates that problem but constantly and evenly distributing clippings as it goes. Lastly, it was pretty fun to use. I'm sure I'll get tired of it just like any other mower, but it's a nice change from the normal style mower. Pros: Far cheaper than pretty much all mowing alternatives Environmentally friendly -- no gas, oil, battery charging, extension cord hassle (saves even more money) The scissor action cut is healthier for grass than standard mowers tearing action Can be fun to use Quiet enough that you could use it at night and not bother neighbors Evenly distributes clippings as you go Handled tall grass better than expected Cons: Doesn't produce a perfect cut. You'll have to accept that it won't be perfect -- blades will be left standing and unless you want to make 3 passes over your entire lawn, this is a reality. I think it still looks quite good. There's a large gap between the cutting blades and the sides of the wheels, so it will leave a decent-width edge that you'll have to weed eat afterward. Sticks and such will stop the blades, forcing you to clear them out before continuing. No mowing in reverse -- I recommend getting used to always moving forward rather than back and forth like you may be accustom with standard mowers. ... show more

  • Very good - a nice breath of "fresh" air
Size: 18-Inch, 5-Blade
After a friend bought one of these, I was intrigued so I asked to use it to mow both my front and rear lawn. It was a bit of a workout (that's a good thing) and I was so impressed that I bought one for myself to replace my standard gas mower (22" Briggs & Stratton). So, it came a few days later and took all of 10 minutes to assemble (just the handle). Other reviewers have stated some of the things below, but I will too (from my perspective). - this unit (and other reel mowers) are really a breath of fresh air. No fumes to mess with. - this is not for the ego-challenged suburbanites who pride themselves on the $500 gas "Cadillac" mower and buy computers based on Megahertz rating. I will leave it at that. - this unit cuts incredibly fine if the yard was properly cut beforehand (not mowing for the first time all year at 4" height could cause a problem). No grasscatcher needed at all. - I live in Oklahoma with almost all standard Bermudagrass, which grows at a rapid pace in summer with our 95-degree days. I find I have to mow a little more often with this mower, which is no big deal since it really is quite relaxing to use. - After using this mower twice and not having used a gas mower for over 10 days on my lawn, I was *really* impressed by how much greener my Bermudagrass was. Seriously. It seems the "chopping" of the gas mower (which would leave nasty circle sometimes) was less healthy for my grass than this reel mower's cut, which seemingly mulches the grass clippings and seals the blades themselves. A quick Google search on some horticulture sites confirmed that reel mowers are the most healthy way to mow a lawn (for any grass). - I have to overlap rows to ensure I get all blades cut. I generally overlap about 1/3 of the mower's wdith to ensure each pass gets cut about twice (roughly). - Another reviewer said that just after mowing with this mower, it will not have the pristine, "just cut" look a gas mower usually provides. This is true - there are no "tracks" to indicate to others that the yard was just mowed. Umm, for me I have easily gotten used to having a much more greener yard with a total and whole "cut look" than having 20-inch tracks throughout the yard. Once you get used to it, it's not an issue. After I get done mowing, the yard is pretty darn close to perfection (as in a gas mower cut), and looks "whole". - I cut my Bermudagrass at the lowest-height setting (1/2") and my yard looks fantastic at that setting with proper watering and fertilizing very few months. - The foam handle makes this mower extremely easy to handle and use, and it does give a decent aerobic workout if it takes 30 minutes or so to mow. Very nice indeed. I've never had a self-propelled gas mower either, since I view yardwork as exercise and not "armchair quarterbacking". - Instead of continuing to pollute, I bought a rechargeable blower and trimmer and now can completely take care of my yards without any gas pollution whatsoever. Can't say that for my neighbors and their guzzling SUVs and huge and noisy gas mowers. - Don't want to continue bashing gas mower "people" (because I was one for a long time), but try one of these and make a change. If you take care of your lawn with a gas mower now, the transition to this reel mower will be simple and more than likely, you'll enjoy mowing again. - Can't stress this enough - like many reviewers have said, spray the blades with WD-40 after every mow and the next time you will have a well-oiled machine (no pun intended) with perfectly sharp blades, which will mow extremely quiet. I have mowed once at 7:30am (was bored) and did not wake a soul in my neighborhood since this thing was so quiet (much less noise than a rechargeable trimmer). Nothing is quite as bothersome as sitting on the deck in a backyard with a nice *beverage* and being deafened by a gas mower starting as soon as you begin to relax. That's it. I have started conversations with neighbors already who can't believe I am using 100-year old technology to mow my yard, but they all come away impressed with the cut and my explanation(s). I am keeping the gas mower for now, but it will probably go away soon. Some things in life are best enjoyed simple when everything else is so complex, and this is one of those things. ... show more
