  • Wonderful Tool
Style: 42" Zero-Turn w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
This is coming from someone who has never enjoyed lawn care, but this ego zero turn 42 inch lawn mower, I'm having a tremendous amount of fun with! It does a great job cutting the lawn, I'm enjoying using it twice a week and it's incredibly fast and easy to do my yard. The machine charges all the batteries rapidly, and it can go to from a zero to full charge in under 2 hours. So far everything on the machine has been very easy to use, I'm getting compliments from people in my neighborhood on how the grass looks and more importantly I'm enjoying it. The only negative I have on this machine is the overall price of it as it is an expensive upfront cost, but not having to do any maintenance as of right now is a great payoff. Also the batteries will be able to be used with other ego pieces of equipment and I plan on purchasing the snow blower later this year where the batteries from the lawn mower will work in the snow blower. Again very happy with the overall performance and ease of use. Anyone who has the funds to make this type of investment, I think we'll be happy. ... show more

  • Great mower
Style: 42" Zero-Turn w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
Super efficient and quiet. Cuts beautifully and turns on a dime. Cuts way better than EGO's 21 inch self-propelled push mower. No clumping at all. Sure, a little pricey but worth it to me. Though I only mow 1/3 acre, our rough yard made walking behind a mower quite punishing on my aging knees. Now mowing is a breeze and also pretty fun. ... show more

  • Fun machine
Style: 42" Zero-Turn w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
No more smelling gas or loud motor. Fun to cut grass now. The only thing I could say is that the amount of lawn it can cut without charging is less than they say. There is 6 spots for batteries but they only send 4 batteries, so yes it would cut what they say but that is with 6 batteries. I was going to get 2 more batteries but their prices are outrages. The charger is great and charges quickly. ... show more

  • My first electric ZTR mower.
Style: 42" Zero-Turn w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
I’ve received, unpacked and and assembled a new EGO 42” riding mower. I have to say now, after a few hours use, it has exceeded my expectations! First, it was delivered on a steel, roll-off pallet huddled in a steel frame with mower covered with visqueen plastic sheeting. Very impressive. The frame was easily disassembled using only a ½ (13mm) socket and an electric impact driver. Works easiest with a second person with ½” box end wrench to hold the other end of the bolts, Remove a couple of hold down straps over the rear wheels (One ½” bold on each side). Remove pair of wheel chocks on the front wheels, release the parking brake and an easy roll off onto the ground. Assembly is also a breeze. Tools are included. Just mount and align the steering bars and install the seat. Remove the batteries from the cardboard boxes and drop the batteries into the mower. Now that you’ve accomplished all this, open and read the instructions, They are well written with very good illustrations. There are a lot of pages and it will take a while to go through all of the materials. You can do all of this while the batteries are charging. I am replacing my old (10 Y.O.) Toro 42” time cutter. (15 gallons of gasoline per season). Now after one hour of operating this new EGO, I am amazed how easy it was for me to transition from the Toro. It is a short learning curve to understand the switch functions and LED display. Cutting the grass is as good, if not better than the Toro. Blade speed is adjustable and at the lower setting it still cuts well enough and the machine is whisper quiet, I have about ¾ acre to mow and it did it easily with the 4 supplied batteries. Air temperature in the low 70’s. Now for my complaint: The mower deck height adjustment works fine but the cut depth indicator numbers are in a place that is hard to see. I can’t see the numbers while I am seated. It’s an easy fix for the factory. Again, a very well engineered machine with an excellent instruction set. I’m happy. ... show more

  • Quality Is POOR. Warranty work is SLOW and unpredictable.
Style: 42" Zero-Turn w/(4) 10.0Ah Batteries
I bought this mower last year (2022) to mow approximately 2.5 acres. The first year it was great -- no issues at all. At the start of the second season (this year), I tried a firmware update, which failed, and completely bricked the mower. After many failed attempts to re-flash the firmware, and time with Ego tech support, it they told me to bring it in to a service center. The nearest service center with any reasonable wait time was an hour away from my house (so four hours total driving time to drop off and pick-up). Keep in mind they do not cover transportation as part of your warranty, so if you don't have a trailer, good luck. The service center took approximately four weeks to fix it. In the meantime, I had to rent another riding mower for $180 and spend another two hours round trip transporting it. The service center replaced the battery management system (BMS), which did seem to do the trick (I was able to drive the mower onto my trailer to bring it home). Fast forward a few days, and I was finally able to mow my yard. It was extra thick, so it drained the batteries before I was done. After letting it charge overnight, I went to turn it on this morning and... another issue. It "turns on", in the sense that the control panel looks normal, but it won't move, and the blades won't turn on (error 607). This is getting incredibly frustrating. At this point, I'd warn anyone and everyone away from this mower. Their quality control seems subpar and their independent repair network is slow and unpredictable. Now my best case scenario seems to be wasting another four hours to take it back to the repair shop (while likely needing to rent a mower again in the meantime). It's absurd and shameful. While this mower is great in theory (until it seemingly inevitably breaks), I'd stick with a gas mower with fewer electronics and way more time to have worked out the bugs. The rest of the Ego lineup seems decent (string trimmers, blowers, push mowers), they just don't appear to have the engineering chops to build a quality riding mower. UPDATE I contacted Ego support about the latest issue. They told me they would escalate it and I should hear back no later than the next business day. It is now three business days later with no contact. ... show more
