This is replacing the same model that is now about 30 years old and still running. I was just getting paranoid that it would break and I saw this one on sale so decided to buy it. On the old one, it needed a new battery every few years, I replaced the ignition solenoid, the carburetor, put tubes in the wheels, but other than that it still starts easy, runs smooth and cuts grass fine. I'll be able to sell that as a still functioning machine. This one is very nearly identical, with just deck lever, blade engage and transmission levers in different places. It comes in a well-constructed crate and I got home delivery which worked out well. All that needed to be assembled was the seat (one hand nut) and the steering wheel (a socket wrench with extension). It came with the oil already in it, so added gas and it started right up. I cut grass with it right away and it ran very nice, the cut was excellent, I am very happy with this machine and if it is anywhere near as durable as the last, I might be the last one I ever need. ... show more

Recommend not to purchase. The carrier lies about delivery and never got delivered as it said. Had to call the carrier 3 times to ask where my order was at. Eventually it was delivered. When it was delivered it was in a shipping crate, which I had to use a hammer to focefully remove it. Then the lawn mower was not fully assembled. Once assembled and filled with gas and oil it only started up once and will not start again. Highly disappointed for the price I paid it should be in brand new working condition. Couldn’t be happier! This is my second craftsman riding mower. The first one lasted 15 seasons. This one is nearly a copy of that older model so I’m confident it’ll do as well!

    • Awful customer service, decent product
UPDATE After a few great weeks, I started having issues with the deck belt coming off. I purchased it in April and it was November when I contacted them to see how to replace the belt. I figured it was better to have it replaced before the grass was growing again. I was told to contact a different company, they gave me links to their email and I only clicked the link, emailed them and realized it was the same email that I had previously sent. After roughly 10-12 email exchanges and it going in circles with no understanding, I give up. It’s a shame to pay for a product, feel protected by a warranty and realizing that the company has no intention of honoring their warranty. The mower is not bad, but the customer service is terrible. If you don’t mind paying for parts that should be in warranty and you don’t mind having to do the repair yourself, it’s not a bad deal. If you don’t have the mobility, skills or knowledge of how to do repairs, then I don’t recommend buying this product or any other product from this company because you just can’t depend on the manufacturer’s warranty. I did purchase the extended warranty from a third party and I will be contacting them to see if I can get this fixed. It’s a belt, I never anticipated that I would be having this much trouble getting it replaced. Easy to operate, there is no extra bells and whistles to make it hard to keep up with, which is exactly what attracted me to this one. I have 2 acres of land and I can do it all in 3 hours (and that includes having to get around kids stuff, play set and trampoline, etc). Can’t beat the price tag. Delivery was pretty slow, but it was free and I can’t complain about it. But it’s met all my expectations. ... show more

    • Unsafe riding mower
The one pedal design is unsafe. You have to depress the pedal to accelerate. If your foot slips off the pedal it will quickly accelerate unexpectedly. The pedal location and the range of motion is difficult and uncomfortable to use. Also, the location of the gas tank makes refueling difficult. Pros: The mower does cut great, has a great turn radius, and is pretty fuel efficient. Worth $2000, if I don’t die. ... show more
