The YG2860 features exclusive and industry leading continuously variable transmission (CVT) offering superior speed variability to keep the mowing at a suitable and a comfortable pace, adapting to your walking speed. The high-rear-wheels are perfect for uneven terrain and are equipped with double ball bearings and exclusive aggressive spiked tread rubber tires for an increased traction and maneuverability. This mower offers seven cutting heights, from 1.38" to 3.55” allowing you to cut your lawn to your specifications by using a single convenient lever. The MaxFlow volute deck is designed to keep grass clippings airborne longer for superior mulching, or for flowing into the rear bag when needed. Convenient deck washout port allows you to clean the deck's underside quickly and easily, simply attach a hose to the port and let the water flush out the dirt so you're ready for your next mow. Purchased this mower in need of a very torky motor to get through my backyard of tall weeds! Never in over 15 years have I had a mower that could mow the yard and not be bogged down and stop after even only a weeks growth. This one did it and cut very well first pass too! The power is there! While the self propelled feature is slower even at full speed than is like im sure slowing it down helps the quality of the cut. So worth the money!     • Nice lawn mower but a couple issues
I've used this lawn mower about a dozen times now. I really like it but have a couple issues that buyers should be aware of. First: because of its large 201cc engine it is hard to start cold and takes between 3 and 5 pulls to get it started. it would have been better if it had a choke or primer button. Once started it only takes one pull every time to restart. Second: If you set it too low the deck will hang up on high spots like the edge of a flower bed. Overall though I would buy this lawnmower again because it can mow 6" grass without bogging down and even though it is front wheel drive the aggressive wheels will pull it up hills in my yard with no problem ... show more

    • Not a reliable product
I purchased this mower at the beginning of 2024. In May, the mower stopped self-propelling. I contacted YardMax and they sent me a new transmission. I installed the new transmission and the mower started operating again. All was well until the beginning of September when the self-propelled functionality stopped working again. I again contacted YardMax and explained my issue. They told me it was a simple fix and they are sending me a replacement part - though this part is different that the previous part they sent even though it was the exact same issue. I asked about getting a replacement mower since it didn't seem right that a mower this new would have this many issues. I was told that they couldn't replace the unit or give me a refund because I'd bought it from Amazon and not directly from them. Based on the quality of the machine that I've experienced, I wouldn't buy another mower from them or recommend that anyone else did either. If you do buy a YardMax, definitely don't buy it from a third party as that will prevent you from getting an exchange or reimbursement. I'm writing this off as a bad buying choice and going to purchase a reliable mower. ... show more

All I can say is, "Wow!" I shopped around a lot and chose this mower because of the more powerful engine and it is self-propelled. I don't use the bag since I mulch every time I mow. I am 100% satisfied and I highly recommend this mower. Similar mowers that I looked at with the same features were costing hundreds of dollars more. It is very easy to use and start. ... show more

Tested it to the max right out the box. I live in Kentucky and haven’t cut my grass once yet this year until today when this mower arrived. Grass grows thick and it grows fast here, about 30% of my backyard was a foot tall and as thick as it comes, and this thing basically plowed through all of it. Of course I had to go slow in a lot of places and really give it a push, but it exceeded my expectations for sure. Self propel made cutting on a slight incline a breeze ... show more

    • Buy this mower, I have been using this for 4 weeks now, and no issues.
Works great! it NOT BATTERY! that is the best part, it uses GAS! I had to order this to get past the triple the cost Battery Lawnmowers. I will definitely tell my friends about this YardMax lawnmower, power is good and is a great value for my hard earned money. Ease to put this together, it comes with Oil and an Extra Air Filter. a Comparable Electric would have been 3X this cost of a gas lawnmower that will run for hours, not 40 minutes. I will save hundreds of dollars with this mower over a Electric Mower over 5 years. ... show more
