The high-rear-wheels are perfect for uneven terrain and are equipped with double ball bearings and exclusive aggressive spiked tread rubber tires for an increased traction and maneuverability. The MaxFlow volute deck is designed to keep grass clippings airborne longer for superior mulching, or for flowing into the rear bag when needed. I highly recommend this mower! Awesome mower and value. The 201-cc engine is beefy and can handle some pretty tough stuff. My yard is hilly and grows very unevenly. This mower handles it all easily. It ships ready to go. Just add the oil provided and gas up. Mine started on the second pull.     • Nice lawn mower but a couple issues
I've used this lawn mower about a dozen times now. I really like it but have a couple issues that buyers should be aware of. First: because of its large 201cc engine it is hard to start cold and takes between 3 and 5 pulls to get it started. it would have been better if it had a choke or primer button. Once started it only takes one pull every time to restart. Second: If you set it too low the deck will hang up on high spots like the edge of a flower bed. Overall though I would buy this lawnmower again because it can mow 6" grass without bogging down and even though it is front wheel drive the aggressive wheels will pull it up hills in my yard with no problem ... show more

    • I have ordered two of these lawn mowers. They are great.
Setup is quite easy. Unfold the handle, add the oil, add the gasoline. Set the cutting height, which is very simple, one level sets all four wheels. Then pull the start cord. First time you might have to pull more than once. But most times after that, the mower starts on the first pull. I have two of these, they work great. (Large yard here) ... show more

    • Front wheel drive? REALLY?
This is a big, powerful mower. I bought it hoping it would cut my grass better than the electric mower I was using. This thing is heavy! It says in the description that it weights 84 pounds, and by the time you get grass in the bag you're pushing 90. When I say pushing I really mean wrestling. I thought it would be ok because the reviews said it had a strong self-propel drive. It does. That's part of the problem. There are several problems with this mower. One is that the grass bag is too wide to fit easily between the handles, and it's extremely awkward to put on and take off. But by far the biggest issue with this mower is the front wheel drive propel feature. One problem is with the speed lever. It says it has 6 speeds, but the lever won't stay where you put it because the tension of the cable is too tight, so you end up with it either on the slowest speed or the fastest. In theory, I guess someone thought front wheel drive would be cool, but in reality, it's a terrible idea. I don't know about you, but when I turn my mower in tight spaces, I push down on the handle bar and raise the front end, letting the rear wheel drive help turn the mower. With this mower, when you do that, the front wheel drive is completely useless, meaning you're wrestling this huge 85 pound mower to turn it. In addition, because the drive is very powerful, if the grass is wet at all, you loose traction and the tires just spin. Traction is very poor because the front wheel drive does not have sufficient weight on the tires. All in all, this mower is a ton of work! It's a workout to mow the lawn with it. I wish I hadn't bought it. But since it's non-returnable, I'm stuck with it. I would not recommend it. I guess I'll be going back to my electric... ... show more

    • Good Power, Disappointing Shifter
I've only used this mower three times so that's not much of a test for a product like this. I certainly can not and am not offering my opinion on the durability of the Yardmax. That wouldn't be fair or accurate. That's more of a long term assessment. It definitely has good power and cuts well. I like the grass bagger and mulching options. The reason I only gave it three stars is that the speed control doesn't work very well. The shifter is made of plastic and it doesn't lock in easily and stay locked in at higher speeds. There are 6 speeds but it's hard to get the shifter to lock into all the speeds above 1st gear. It also doesn't always change speeds when I push the shifter forward. I have to push it all the way forward to get it to change speeds sometimes. That's a big deal to me because the six speed control was one of the main reasons I bought it. They should have made the entire shifting mechanism out of metal. Lastly, my lawn has a very irregular border and many objects I have to mow around so I have to turn the mower frequently. This mower is a lot heavier than my old 22" push mower and it gives my arms a lot more of a work out because I'm frequently turning the mower. I can definitely feel the extra weight of the drive system and engine. I think the front drive system moves the center of gravity forward requiring more force to raise the front by pushing the handle bar down. My next self-propelled mower will be a little smaller and have rear wheel drive. Unless I decide I need to keep building up my arm muscles. : ) ... show more

Great mower . Easy assembly add oil and arms . Good quality so far. And very nice folding arms for storage, I have used 6xs since purchase w no issues. Starts on first or second pull. I keep on 1st or 2nd speed could go pretty fast . Cuts and mulch’s wonderful. Easy going up inclines on sand mound. I would recommend ... show more
