Getting a new place and starting with nothing and buying EVERYTHING brand new. Because of that, aesthetics plays a big part in everything I'm buying because I finally get to create the home I want. Superficial, I know, but it's a golden opportunity. The color itself appealed to me because it's simple and plain, but the price went against my intuition. I kept looking for more expensive 4-5 star rated units even though I was only going to need a vacuum cleaner for rugs, not whole room carpeting, and there would not be any pet hair/dander involved. But, honestly, all the garrish colors and bells and whistles didn't appeal to me. The reviews for this one -- and the price -- convinced me to give it a try. I figured, if it didn't work well enough, I'd be out less than $100. Well, i ordered it, had to wait because it was out of stock and suddenly got it. I was skeptical because it looks small and is incredibly lightweight, but I tried it. WHOA! It sucks really good, but sounds louder than the old dyson. I say sounds because I can't measure the decibel levels but it really just sounds louder. But it sucks really good and that's the important part. Even my 12 year old daughter was impressed and she immediately took over the vacuuming. Bonus, right? Anyway, it seems to be well-thought out so that it has everything I need and it's compact enough to store easily. It's still new and I should probably wait a whole year to review it, but I think I can recommend it. If it becomes problematic further down the road, I guess I'll update the review. ... show more

    • This is an amazing vacuum. You need it.
Buying a vacuum feels like a luxury, especially when you can easily spend hundreds. My old one was always spitting schmutz around on the hard floor - which is almost all of my home. Extremely frustrating, but didn't really merit replacement. Then the power pedal gave out, and when I spotted this one, something just told me to get it. I'm usually so big on doing research, but the price and reviews were great. Very glad I took that leap. The other reviewers have pretty much said it all. It's lightweight but does not feel flimsy. It's smaller scale - maybe 3/4 scale of a regular upright. The designers did a great job choosing practical features and making it easy to use. What amazed me is what it actually does to the carpet. I don't know how old my rental home's flooring is... seven years at least. I live in a cold climate (on the ground floor so lots of dirt and dust blows in) and my roommate is a very sweet, super fuzzy cat. It's just really difficult to keep the floors clean. The carpet isn't horrendous, but it's getting worn and has definitely seen much better days. You know how even mid-pile standard home carpet kind of wears down and gets flatter over time? I did not think that was fixable, but a few passes with this and it's much more plush. This vacuum didn't just clean the carpet, it basically restored it. I have had a lot of vacuums over the years and have never seen any of them do that. It's also much better on hard floors - the traces of cat litter can ricochet a bit, but I can just detach the handle and get it up that way. Other things like fluff and bits of cat food etc. are no problem. I'm beyond thrilled with this thing, particularly given the very low price. You should get it right this second.     • Makes you enjoy vacuuming your home
A wonderful recommendation by Amazon. 1. It’s light. Easy to move, hold and do steps 2. Works very well. 3. Easy to empty canister and is large too. 4. Love that there are only two attachments with an extension that has a built-in handle. I finally will want to get to crevices. 5. Did I forget to say this vacuum costs under $70. I can not be happier. The ONLY minor negative is the length of the power cord. It’s 16 feet. I knew that and simple extend it when needed with my Amazon purchased 25 ft extension. I use it for other things infrequently. I now have a longer cord than most if not all expensive vacuums. ... show more

This a nice lite weight upright vacuum. So far it's done a good job of picking up dirt and dog hair from my floors. I live in a small country town surrounded by farm land. Dirt and dust is on the bad side always around this area. My American Eskimo dog is a walking fur factory so when I say it picks up dog hair it does. It's all plastic but seems to be well made. I wanted something with more power than my vacuum stick and not spend a lot. Enter Amazon basic's vacuum on sale for $65 with free shipping. I instantly knew the quality the moment I picked up the shipping box; it weighed almost nothing. I quickly assembled the Vacuum and put it to good use. I read reviews saying it's too loud; but it's nothing above average. Quality of build is very, very mediocre and it's made completely of plastic. But it works. It's worth the $65 and free shipping. Best suction I have seen from any vacuum I have ever had, except maybe a 40-year old Kirby my parents gave me. Yes, it is cheap and is light on features because of that (and LOUD). See how long it lasts.

My home has 3 shedding animals in it and the carpet hasn’t been this clean in a long time. Putting it back together after emptying the cylinder was a bit of a challenge but figured it out eventually. The cord is way too short though and it plugs into the socket upside down which is a little weird. Definitely worth giving it a try. ... show more

Everything I have ordered with the "Amazon Basics" in the name has pretty much been a hit with me. This vacuum is so great, it is a grand slam! It is lightweight, but cleans with much better suction than my name brand one. It is simple, no need to adjust for hard floors to carpet as there is no way to do that. But you do not need to, it cleans both very well. No bags needed, you just empty the dirt/dust canister. Super happy I purchased this - 5 stars! ... show more
