If your wife is an expert at loading the boat in any weather conditions and you know nothing about the subject then this is your answer. We purchased a 1973 Starcraft earlier this year and always struggled to load it. Despite the large bunks on the bottom and keel rollers, the stern of the boat was almost never centered on the trailer when we pulled out of the water. With these guides, I can now drive onto the trailer. Once the keel is in the first roller, it goes on the trailer easily, saving a struggle and potential arguement. Fairly straightforward to install. However, as with most universal mounting kits, the fit is never perfect. There is a 1/2 inch gap between the frame and the U bolts. So far it hasn't moved. However, I plan to install some kind of shim to prevent any possible movement. The brackets are well made, and the steel tubing is much longer than other kits I searched before buying this one. As anyone who has ever backed an empty boat trailer down the ramp knows, visability matters. The upright posts with LED lights are a huge improvement. I had to do a lot of research to makes sure the uprights were long enough on the bottom leg to clear my boat. For some reason, they usually list only the upright height, with no bracket dimensions to judge clearances. The bottom leg is 23" from its outside edge to the end of the tube. Plenty of room for me. The ground screw requires a slightly larger hole than 1/8" . You might have to work the bit to enlarge. I broke one screw off trying to tighten it. I used a fish tape to pull the wire through the tube. It was nice to have the ground ring terminal to wire tie the wire end to the tape. Tight fit, but, it can be done and makes for a cleaner installation. All in all, good product and good instructions. Bad screws. ... show more

Bought these for our 23’ boat trailer. We were tired of the boat drifting while loading. A fellow boater suggested we needed drunk poles. Even though we never drink on the water the name fit. They took about an hour to install and made our lives alot easier when loading. Quality is great and the light on top is bright. Definitely worth the money. ... show more

Impressed by initial install, have yet to test it by launching the boat but seems extremely sturdy just by pulling on the poles, will easily adjust out if need be. Lights are somewhat dim during the day but plenty bright at low light/night conditions. Immediately tossed the provided electric connection kit in the trash, and properly wired all connections to ensure no issues for regular saltwater use. can see my small empty boat trailer when retrieving boat. small boat trailers cannot be seen when empty from my vehicle. Like the lights, a nice added touch for retrieving at night. helps to center the boat as well. the included u bolts were a little frustrating to tighten during installation. found a ninety degree drill bit adapter took the work out of it when re-adjusting. should have used it to begin with. works great with 15 foot jon boat. seems sturdy enough for small boats ... show more

The guide posts and component construction are both of high quality. The PVC tubes are very thick-walled and I'm sure will last forever. They did have some scuffs from packaging and shipping, but they're going to be outdoors and have a boat dragged across them every time I launch and pull out, so I don't mind this at all. The wire for the light caps are a bit small and NOT tin plated, so they may not last too long with saltwater, but can always be replaced. The lights themselves seem well built and very high quality. The units were really easy to install. My only gripe is that I needed the longer U-Bolts and have to pay almost 1/3 the cost of the entire kit just to replace the bolts! Now I have shorter bolts that are useless. They should offer an option to choose bolt length when buying. (And because I'm a guy and I save everything that can be useful even when I don't need it the shorter bolts will remain in my garage forever). This knocks the review down from 5 to 3 stars. ... show more
