  • Solid economical Bike Rack for a '25 Subaru Legacy sedan
I was a little skeptical about this item as its price was significantly lower that the competitors. I installed the Amazon bike rack on my 2025 Subaru Legacy (sedan). I had previously installed a Class 3 CURT 2" hitch. The assembly was easy. What amazed me most was the stability of the rack once installed -- absolutely no wobbles. I can install the rack on the car or uninstall it in under a minute. (I use a 24mm socket instead of the 24mm wrench that came with it). I bought a crossbar for my 29" mountain bike (Scott Spark 920) so the bike would be "level" on the rack". Unloading and loading is a breeze. I add a bungee around the wheels and the rack to keep them from spinning when I travel. If I'm travelling a long distance, I also use small bungees on the pedals to keep them from spinning. There is no "flapping" from the rack tie downs -- they are rigid plastic and work very well. If I know I'm going to be leaving the bike on the rack, I add a cable lock around the frame of the bike and secure it through the loop on the hitch. The rack arm folds down if I want to leave it on the car. It is a simple 30 second procedure. I don't need to tip the rack down to open the trunk on my Legacy so I'll probably never use the "tip-down" feature. In rugged terrain, I occasionally bottom out on my hitch -- but that is because I'm driving a "sedan". (Not a rack problem -- it could be solved if I had an SUV). Overall, a solid rack and I'm impressed and pleased. ... show more

  • Excellent bike rack at an excellent price
I have been impressed with this bike rack so far. I love the straps that hold the bike. That was one of the main reasons I bought this bike rack. The only one thing that I would like to see change is the length from the hitch can be a bit longer maybe 6 inches longer so that the bikes are more away from the car. Right now obviously there is enough gap but more space would help in extreme conditions especially during hard breaking. I will still give it a five star, considering the price of the bike rack and the quality it offers. ... show more

  • 4 of 5 stars
Holds 4 standard bikes well. Was easy to install; it took less than 15 minutes and is a great value.

  • so much better than Yakima bike rack
the amazon bike rack holds 4 bikes easily. it was struggle to get the same 4 biles on the yakima bike rack (which is larger than the yakima, but amazon bike 'pads' are more spread out). the way amazon bike rack connects to receiver hitch (bolt) works much better than the red speed knob approach yakima uses. the yakima bike rack worked fine first two times, but on third try the red knob turned, the piece that attaches to the vehicle did not loosen, and we could not detach the yakima hitch from the vehicle. this issue is so prevalent, that yakima has an article on its website on what to do when red knob turns but fails to loosen the connection between rack and vehicle (the work around involves banging with a mallet and massive yanking). on the plus side for yakima, it is very well built, and the 'V' tie down straps are amazing, but the red knob is a fatal design flaw (along with the metal surfboard type fin near the red knob that will scrape your knuckles bloody as you turn the red knob). ... show more

  • Best bike rack for the money.
Great deal for the price. Easy to install and very stable. I can't stand those expensive racks that wobble while you're driving.

  • Easy to keep in the truck
Easy and simple to set up... tools are included. It's solid and good so far. The pin screws on to the hitch so I'll get one that's regular.
