  • Received on time; will probably be just wat we were looking for.
The Dual I'd ordered thru Lowes was supposed to be in in three days. I rec'd an email advising it would be at least another 7 or 8 days. We really needed one for this weekend in our guest room. I cancelled that and ordered here, it arrived in less than 48 hours. This is preliminary review. The heater is well packaged and arrived undamaged. The template is heavier paper, but would benefit from being on stiffer cardboard that wouldn't droop and slide around. The mounting posts went in well, but needed my wife to hold the template while I drilled the four holes. Yes, I tried taping it, but it would still droop a bit, and the tape took off the paint...this is new construction with Sherwin Williams paint. Not a very good ad for them I suppose. I did a trial fit and the heater mounts OK on the four posts. I'll update this once I have it completely up and running. By the way, I plugged it in as soon as I took it out of the box and let it run for an hour or more. There was no detectable odor from it. Also, I'm glad I revisited the questions above; I was about to remove the foil from the back of the shield and apply it to the wall! I know...read everything twice, right? A final initial thought, you might need a magnifying glass to read the instruction booklet. I've had cataract surgery and currently see at better than 20/20, but the print is really small. Youtube has a very good video on unpacking and installing this. Will update when it's up and running. Preliminary rating - 3 Stars...floppy template and hard to read instructions. Update: I'm moving my rating to 4 Stars. It's on the wall, plugged in, and warming the room. It does take several hours to be effective, so you might want to turn it on before you need it. There is still no odor coming fro it. Pros: So far, based on 24 hours with it installed, it's working. The heat shield on the Dual is nice since this room will be used by a 20 month old girl and her parents for the holiday. Cons: Manual is difficult to read. Template is foppy. The plastic nuts that secure the upper heat shield brackets are a devil to get on the posts and tighten. You need little elf hands of something. (The lowers are easy). I eventually held the nut in a pair of offset pliers and was able to get it on the posts. It threaded in a bit cockeyed, but I'll deal with that another day. For now, it's working and doing what it's warranted to do. ... show more

  • Barely a product - more of a project composed of poorly made parts and a sheet of sticky tin-foil
From the opening of the box that smelled like horse poop, the cheapness of this box of parts they called a heater was so apparent it was repulsive. There is a bag of plastic pieces that hold together the slabs you are supposed to screw to your wall after applying a 2' X 2' piece of adhesive-backed tin-foil. This will without doubt destroy any wall surface you plan to mount this poorly-made, cheap-plastic mounted assembly onto. The cheap plastic corner mounts will not withstand bumping into by a kid, a chair or a pet and you'll be left with nothing but a sticky tinfoil mess and a lighter bank account. The Envi product stands miles above this load of junk - get one of those if possible. Amazon was out of stock and Fex-Ex and UPS would triple the cost to us in Alaska so I went for the "Free Prime Shipping". It'll be the last tie I'll make the mistake. Don't waste your money. Oh, and be prepared to open the door if you plug it in - the smell is horrendous when it comes on. You'll have long before tossed the box out the door, but the owrst is yet to come. ... show more

  • Not Truly Energy-Efficient, A Waste of Money
I purchased this heater for my daughter's room as a safe, energy-efficient option. As other reviewer's have mentioned, it does have a very strong, chemical smell to it, even when unplugged. I was hoping it would off-gas and the smell would disappear but it hasn't in several months. It also takes a good 12 hours to heat a small, 100 foot room, which means it needs to be left on 24/7 to keep the room at a decent temperature during frigid Montana winters (which completely negates any claimed energy efficiency). I had also purchased a plug-in thermostat from the same company for $25, another total waste of money because it takes the heater so long to warm the room that having a thermostat to regulate temperature is pointless. ... show more

  • Works for a shop bathroom
I am only using this to keep an uninsulated bathroom in a warehouse warm, about 50-60sf. Warehouse averages 50 degrees. If left to just run it keeps the room at a comfortable warmth and serves the purpose it was bought for. Often it gets shut off over night, and it takes a bit for it to warm the room from the start, few hours. As for the smell of the unit- It was strong out of the box, but dissipated over a couple of weeks with 8 hrs, 5 days/wk. There is still an odor- now smells much like the paint used in kindergarten class rooms. It is noticeable, but not offensive to me. ... show more

  • Unobtrusive and effective
The heater seems well made, and installing it was straightforward. I haven’t used it enough to measure it’s energy efficiency.

  • Efficient heater but smell awfully bad!
I bought this heater because I have one 15A circuit breaker that supplies two rooms and I needed a heater that can draw less than 4 amps. This heater was very efficient, it consumed around 400 Watts as advertised but the major issue is the lack of correct installation instructions (the manual supplied was for an older version) and the chemical smell. When I received the heater, it smell so bad that I left it in the garage for a week, then noticing that smell is persistent I removed the neater from it's package and left it in the open air for two days. After installing it and turning it on, the smell persisted and I have kept leaving the window open during the day to try to dissipate the smell, but It's been more than two weeks now and the smell is still persistent. ... show more
