Works better than a fancier version with plastic locking mechanism, our previous pressure cooker wouldn't seal right and leaked if you couldn't get the handle assembled right, if the valve didn't seat proper. The upside this is so traditional there's no learning curve for us. Just set it, get it hot, lower the flame and let it do it's thing until the food is ready. We only just got a rice cooker, we weren't ready to go to an electric pressure cooker just yet and this serves us well.

This is a very basic pressure cooker. I have used electric and stove top pressure cookers in the past to can tomatoes and other vegetables, and I wanted another one to be able to process more jars at once. This one is aluminum which is fine for canning. I do wish they included a rack for the bottom since the bottom isn’t flat which can make the jars sit crooked. I do like the stay cool handle as I have burned myself more than once using these cookers. This product isn’t complicated, and it does what its supposed to do, but they do cut a couple of corners.

Works great for canning fruits and vegetables. Allows for canning quarts and pints. You can pressure coon or water bath with this.

I have been using pressure cookers for over 20 years. In the last 10 years I have started using electric ones. I still like having the stovetop type as back up. I have been through 3 electric ones, and they're not exactly cheap. They have also left me high and dry for a meal when they crapped out unexpectedly. The stovetop ones require more attention. You can't just set the timer and walk away. You have to be there to time when the rocker indicates pressure. I know other reviewers complained about it being aluminum but my old school pressure cooker is aluminum and I haven't had any issues. I think the bottom of the pot is more of an issue. I know food is going to get stuck in those corners. I wish it were a flat bottom. I use my pressure cooker multiple times a week. It has made making dinner less of a chore. Sometimes I use more than one at a time. If I'm making goulash in one I can make the mashed potatoes in the other. This is a welcome addition to my growing collection of them!
