    • Bad seller - got an open box, previously constructed awning with missing pieces
I never write bad reviews on sellers - but this is going to be my exception. I received my package, and it was obviously opened before, and yet, sold as new. As I had my brother in town and he was going to help me put it up before he left to go back home, I was going to deal with the open box. However, when I did open the box it was obvious that the awning had been partially put together by someone else and then taken partially apart to return, and there were also hardware pieces missing. We were able to 'make do' with hardware I had on hand, however I did contact the seller to get couple of the missing hardware pieces that seem rather unique to the awning, because I could get them in after the awning was installed. I emailed 3 times and called 3 times (calling is a tale all unto its own - you get in this circular cue and no one ever answers) - all without any response. Because of the incredibly bad instructions, the overall difficulty putting this together was ridiculous. With good instructions the time to put this together would have been cut in half. I have worked on Porsche engines, so it isn't like I haven't dealt with difficult build projects before. One star is actually too kind for the experience I have had with this product and the seller. Update - Aleko has finally gotten in touch with me - and seem to just blow this off - they said that the awning was probably damaged in transit - hardly true, the little plastic bags that held the hardware were cut open - that doesn't happen when boxes are damaged in shipping. Maybe I could give a negative star.... ... show more

    • You ll need good assembly skills and patience.
The unit is study and made well. The assembly took hours and was difficult. Nearly everything had to be put together. It takes some muscle and patience. The assembly directions were not entirely clear. Some components were hard to make out and sometimes resulted in assembling something backwards or upside down. It was frustrating. The anchor bolts provided were only for concrete so I had to find my own anchors. The canvas didn t even have the spline installed so it took two people and lots of frustration to thread it through. Once assembled you need two strong people to lift it onto the brackets. Once installed it operates as it should. ... show more

The spline for attaching the awning to the roller was wrong size. Spline too small and fabric pulled right through slot. Amazon's solution, send the entire awning back for a refund. Hello, is anyone home at Amazon ? That part of installation happens after 70% of assembly. Sent CS at Aleko an email explaining the issue. 10 days later NO RESPONSE. Today received a cheerful email from Aleko thanking me for reaching out to them and asking me to review the awning. No mention of the issue of course. A $12 common part, but no one is offering reimbursement. The awning itself is nice for the price. The assembly instructions are worthless. No identification of hardware. No mention of fine tuning adjustments that are mandatory if you plan to use the awning. etc. You would be better served to dump all of the parts in a bucket and figure it out for yourself.     • Added needed shade to our deck
PROS: Seems to be made to last and added much-needed shade to our deck. The red multi-stripe is very pretty, and the material seems sturdy. The half-cassette covers most of the fabric and I believe it will keep the fabric from getting very dirty (pollen, etc) when retracted. CONS: Instructions are pure crap. We watched some videos on youtube, and they were helpful, but tended to quickly skip past the potential problems or questions we had. We have an awning on our rv, which is a little different but still similar in some ways, plus my husband is great at figuring things out, so those helped immensely. Physically, I could have assembled it by myself (68 yo female), but I would have never been able to as parts and various screws are not labeled at all. The worst part was that some parts (the extension arms) came pre-installed from the factory, but were unfortunately installed upside down, which caused us to have to disassemble parts and flip them AFTER we had already mounted it to the wall and realized it. Note also, that it does take two people to mount this to the wall, as it's quite heavy. OVERALL: We would buy this again for the price we paid. ... show more

Our Aleko awing was easy to put together and quite easy to install. It did take three people to get the awing in position for measuring and tracing bracket locations. One small issue I should have realized earlier, is the awning cannot support any weight, so you will not be able to hang any decorations from the awning. I think it would support a string of lights however. ... show more

We put on our deck and we are pretty happy with it. The only thing I didn’t care much for was the instructions, I think they need improvement but overall we think it’s a pretty good product.

    • Bad directions
The awning is nice, but the directions are horribly written! What directions describes it very accurately. They have tiny pictures of what it should look like, but it's impossible to tell some diagrams. I have perfect vision btw. The awning is nice though despite being horrid to put together.
