I purchased this to temporarily house my first 5 chicken and it houses them perfectly. It is very simple and easy to put together it took two people probably about 2 hours to put together. It is very sturdy once put together. The wire is good value. It does take two people to pick it up and move it. The doors are easy to use and the locks are spring loaded which is nice. It is suck a cute little chicken home and it is made out of pretty good materials and I love that it has actul roofing material. UPDATE: Taking away a star because since having this coop for a couple months, both egg box lids have disconnected from their screws and are now just loosely sitting on top. Be prepared to reinforce that. Relatively easy to assemble. It says two people are needed but I was able to do it by myself in a day. The wood is light, which is good for moving it around the yard, but it needs a bit of extra predator-proofing. I used silicone and caulk to seal the edges under the different roof parts, inside the nest boxes, and on some of the outside seams. I'm also planning to paint it to give it a little more longevity against the weather. On a side note, I didn't know that the coop comes in two boxes, which for me were delivered on separate days and got me very worried, but I will say the customer service person was very reassuring, and everything arrived eventually. The coop is cute but small. It’s not functional and not large enough to house hens. Most of the square footage is nesting boxes. One nest box for 3-4 is sufficient. I’m building a walk-in 6x4 chicken coop. It will house four hens. The chicken run will be 6x4. Hens in room or they start picking on each other. I would recommend large coop. Yes more money but it will be worth it, ... show more

My hens use it just fine, but at some point I will build a larger walk in style roost. It will be easier to clean and the hens wont be crowded.

Comfortable fits our 5 hens. We took off one nesting box and pulled the drawer and latters out. We kept one roosting bar and put in a large branch for them to use to get to the bar. It’s a perfect structure- needs some reinforcing on the locks and flimsy windows. We also primed it so it would weather longer, it’s heavy! Worth the money though if you don’t wanna build one yourself from scratch. Ease to assemble and move with two people. ... show more

Arrived undamaged and assembled easily with 2 people. The wood is not high quality and the paint was thin and spotty. I caulked up all seams and roof screws and repainted with oil based exterior paint to protect the wood and give a barn appearance. I also built a pressure treated 2x4 base for it to sit on and keep it off the ground. Added a rooster weather vane for looks. ... show more

    • Lots of assembnly work
Don't be misled by the "pop-up" images of the main housing units because there are many, many, many steps to complete the build. That said, I am an older woman and assembled it myself but it did take almost half the day (not an hour) even with a drill/driver to help speed up the work. In the end I like the coop and may buy another and remove nest boxes from one side of both to join the roosting space for 6 larger hens. I keep my coop inside a weatherproof greenhouse so am not concerned about the scant finish but if you plan to expose to rain/snow please consider additional preservative finish coats. ... show more
