Do I need a cable or satellite subscription to use the ADTH NextGen TV Box? No subscription needed. The ADTH NextGen TV Box uses your antenna to receive free over-the-air channels. A rooftop antenna is best. Internet is optional but enables encrypted ATSC 3.0 premium channels where available. What antenna do I need? Any UHF/VHF antenna works with the ADTH NextGen TV Box. Rooftop directional antennas give best ATSC 3.0 (4K HDR) reception, while indoor amplified antennas may work near towers. Supports both ATSC 1.0 and 3.0 tuners. I’m not receiving any ATSC 3.0 channels – what should I do? ATSC 3.0 availability varies by market. Check local coverage, if available: connect antenna, run a channel scan, and use a rooftop antenna for best signal. Ensure no obstructions and verify availability on the NextGen TV website. How does the DVR work? What storage do I need? Gen 2 adds DVR features: record live TV, schedule recordings, and pause playback. Requires SD card or USB storage (not included). Use Class 10/UHS-I or USB 3.0. A 64GB card stores about 8–12 hours of 4K HDR content.

  • Easy to get this tuner working
Size: 64 GB
Just purchased the "used like new" product from this seller. It was discounted and I couldn't see any sign it was used or opened. It was easy to set up and get working. I had no problem getting ATSC 3.0 DRM protected stations. I really like the product and am looking forward to using it. It has a nice picture with my bright new UHD monitor. The DVR is a extra function that I'm sure will come in handy. I attached a USB drive to get a little extra storage for recording some shows. ... show more

  • ATSC 3 OTA signals are fabulous
Size: 64 GB
Once hooked up, I received 6 of 7 local ATSC 3 channels with amazing clarity regardless of my location resulting in weak tv antenna signals (~ 40%). That is the best I can report. The ADTH NextGen device is being returned because I cannot receive any of the 60 ATSC 1.0 signals I do receive with my Samsung QN77S95DAFXZA tv and OTA antenna placed on my 8th floor balcony. I have to use several more remote actions to tune to the HDMI input this device connects to. No ATSC 1 receipt thru the ADTH means I lose 60 local tv OTA / ATSC 1 channels. The 6 ATSC 3 channels this device does receive are fabulous, however. Rather expensive for 6 OTA tv channels... The paper manual and online HELP have no guidance for my 'no ATSC 1 reception' situation. I cannot find any switch that would turn off ATSC1. The box has an Atlanta GA phone number that I called. The support extension was always busy so I could not reach a person. I left a voicemail. My caller ID for the phone number on the box resolved to "Hillview Veterinary Clinic Bed ..." After seeing that, I declined to reply to a text received later from ADTH with a case number. Bottom line, IF this particular ADTH box received ATSC 1 signals I still might have returned the ADTH. The ADTH HDMI-connected box is so clumsy to tune in on a Samsung S95D tv. So many remote clicks to switch from my normal wired Internet streaming to the S95D's HDMI input to view only 6 channels. The support phone caller ID resolving to a vet clinic destroyed any confidence I would have had with support. It apparently is defective in that I receive 0 rather than my normal 60 ATSC 1 channels. I'd normally accept a replacement but not in this instance. ... show more

  • The ATSC value leader
A great box to get ATSC 3.0 signals. The interface is simple. It could use a little more work but I’m sure they will update it. The picture quality is great and it sends the Dolby Atmos souls out perfectly. It is also nice you don’t have to connect it to the internet to get a copy protected channels. ... show more

  • Excellent Nextgen tuner! Can’t beat the price!
I bought this to get back into DXing (Long distance reception). I have a giant Antenna on a rotor and one of the best pre amplifiers you can buy. My weak link was the 2009 Digital converter box. The difference between ATSC1 and ATSC3 is big, this tuner box is one of only 3 that can decoded encrypted channels without requiring an internet connection. I did a full scan from 00 to 36 and found a ton of channels. This was in early evening when conditions are not good for dxing. This turner pulled in channels that I just not get before I got it. I can’t wait for the right conditions to really see how far I can find a station. The box has a nice menu and remote. You can connect it to wired or WiFi to get your guide and firmware updates but you don’t need to. You can connect a usb stick or an as card for recordings. This is a really great nextgen tuner for $119. This is one of those rare products that works better then expectations. Oh yea, it has a nice signal strength meter too! Get one, you may have to wait as they sell out fast but so worth the wait. ... show more

  • THE BOX, has some issues
Size: 64 GB
THE BOX, has issues with tuning at times the picture will freeze then recover, it does this 2 times every time it pauses. Out of the blue, I get a spinning wheel then back to the video it was playing. As well as issues with the remote's constantly blinking LED. THE DVR, the1st time I tried to play back the recording the box crashed and then rebooted. BTW the recorded material will not play for more than 30 seconds before a reboot happens. -This BOX was sent to me as my replacement box the 1st one I purchased which gave me the same problems however, I thought maybe the box was bad and there was an option to replace it so I thought why not. This is the 2nd box I'm returning. ... show more

  • ATSC 3.0 Nothing to write home about...
I bought this to try the ATSC 3.0 (NextGen TV) channels offered by some local stations. It is nothing spectacular. The unit itself locked up or reset back to its logo screen quite often. I HATE 'SMART' TVs, I want to come up in ANTENNA mode, not in some stupid APP menu. Unit also does not show NextGen channels in numeric order in the list, it is ATSC 3.0 then ATSC 1.0. Station Channels are the same, so you may have two 2.1 channels, one NextGen the other 'normal' separated by other channel numbers. Can be hard to differentiate when trying to hide one or the other. It also listed stations as having ATSC 3.0 channels even when they didn't. ... show more

  • Great product
Size: 64 GB
I have a projector that does not have a digital TV receiver. This product fixes that issue. Excellent image quality (with a good signal) and simple to use. Have been using it mostly for watching the World Cup. However, I found myself viewing other channels that I do not watch often now such as ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS. ... show more

  • returning this item, channel changes too slow and unreliable, unit runs too hot
Size: 64 GB
this is a revision of my initial favorable review. The unit runs excessively hot and delays during channel changes are very long -- typically 20 seconds but often time-out completely despite the signal strength and quality being reported by the device as > 90% I am returning the product and reverting to just legacy ATSC 1.0 (forgoing 4K) with an HDHomeRun Flex Quatro 4 in retrospect I should have taken other buyer cautionary reviews here more seriously ... show more
