I'll start this review by saying that I wanted a hair dye that hopefully WOULDN'T last long. I've been dying my hair for years now and I love pastels and bright colors, I tend to stay away from darker shades but this year I decided to dye it black for the ren faire. I was looking around for a dye that was semi-permanent but would fade quickly as I had a feeling I wouldn't like black hair on myself. In this way, this dye was perfect. However, the black was never reallyyyy black, the initial wash after applying the dye already gave a blueish-purpleish hue (which could have been because of my pastel pink hair I dyed over but still) and I overall wasn't too impressed. I was hoping for a richer black but in the end it worked out fine for the ren faire day. A couple days later it faded more and more, did not stick to my natural hair at all as most came out in the next shower. In this review it has been about 10-11 days since the initial dying and it is now quite gray at the ends and completely gone on my natural hair. I am going to cut my hair soon so I'm not super upset or anything, but I definitely won't be using this dye again IF i ever decided to dye black. Went into the weekend with a plan to bleach and tone my hair by myself. Unfortunately for me, my hair has been bleached in random places over the course of years, so achieving a consistent color solo was near impossible. I ordered the 3-pack of Mahogany just in case things went awry and I'm so glad I did. I like my hair light, especially for the summer, so I was initially regretting buying such a deep brown. After the hair lightening though, applying Mahogany gave my poorly bleached and toned locs a really pretty shade of brown that's medium and warm in the sun and deep in regular/low light. It's so pretty!! And evenly applied to achieve a harmonious color throughout. I used some leftover Kiss Tintations in Red Berry on my bangs, but 100% recommend Adore more for longevity and even coverage. In fact, I had such a hard time bleaching because I used Adore in Paprika months ago and I still unknowingly had some red dye in my hair! I'm such a fan of this brand, I'll probably buy more Mahogany when this fades and try out different colors for my bangs :) ... show more

Having used Adore Semi-Permanent Color before in Titanium and Platinum and absolutely loving it, I decided to use Mocha to return to my natural color until I could get to a salon. First, this was not the color I was expecting. It had a very red hue, so if you are going for Ash Brown, this is not for you. Second, it faded very quickly but never fully. If you have lighter hair and want a temporary color that will fade away in a few weeks, this is likely not for you either. This would be great for someone with already dark brown hair to cover gray or bring some shine to your hair! TLDR: Other semi-permanent hair dyes are much better The dye colored my hair, but I do NOT recommend using it if you have damaged hair because it destroyed mine. I've dyed my hair with bleach, black box color, manic panic, and arctic fox, so my hair isn't the healthiest. However, I have NEVER had this kind of breakage from other semi-permanent dyes! When I was rinsing my hair, small clumps of my hair were falling out. I have breakage all throughout my hair. It feels like I just bleached it while other dyes make my hair feel soft and don't break my hair. There is tons of breakage all throughout my hair that will have to be entirely regrown to fix. I have never experienced this when using Arctic Fox or Manic Panic in the same circumstances. To add to the problem, this dye stains skin and counters much more than Manic Panic and Arctic Fox. Arctic Fox is my favorite because I can wash away skin and counter stains with some scrubbing. The Adore dye WILL NOT COME OUT of my skin and is extra difficult on counters in comparison to others. In summary, you can use this hair dye if you want to, but I wouldn't recommend it, even if you have virgin hair. It stains really easily and is more damaging than other semi-permanent hair dyes. It also requires heat while other semi-permanent dyes don't, making it more work than it has to be. I'd recommend getting something like Arctic Fox, Strawberry Leopard, or Manic Panic instead because they are conditioning, easier to clean, and require fewer steps. ... show more
