  • a11n Zenith C7 Honest review
Color: Red-C8 Classic
I was provided the opportunity to evaluate and review the a11n Zenith C7 Pickleball paddle. I have previously reviewed the Zenith C8 counterpart. Initial review on arrival: Packaging - The C7 comes in a very sturdy box with molded foam surrounding the paddle. The branding on both the exterior as well as the included information on the inside of the package were very professional & informative. A side note is that I have ordered top name professional paddles that have arrived in nothing protective & with no more than a non-cushioned plastic bag surrounding them. Looks – The C7 paddle is a very nice-looking paddle with the a11n logo embossed on the paddle. Texture - The carbon fiber has a textured surface easily noticeable when feeling the blade surface of the paddle. Grip – The C7 paddle (and the C8 counterpart) has a small grip with prominent edges that to me on the C8 were very irritating to the thumb when playing. It is however longer than some @ 5 ¼” making 2 handed back hands comfortable. Initial review with play: Grip – As speculated the C7 grip is small causing me to have to grip tighter than normal to keep paddle rotation down. The prominent edges are noticeable and tend to be irritating to my thumb. I am 6’ tall so a person with a smaller stature/hands may feel differently. (I had my wife 5’6” play with it and she had the same feeling on her thumb). Blade Length/width – I primarily play with traditional shape paddles & was curious how the narrower/longer paddle blade would feel (C7 is ¾” longer & 0.6” narrower than the C8 counterpart). We were playing outside with a moderate wind. The paddle swung lighter and cut through the air easier/ faster than when using the traditional shape paddle. It took no different effort to connect with the ball in the sweet spot of the paddle. Initial play assessment – The paddle feels weighted heavier to the top, I found this comfortable on the service swing. Again, the grip was to small and rigid for me. The ball came off the paddle very well and has a very large sweet spot that seemed to encompass the majority of the width of the paddle. Ball placement was easy, and I suspect will improve when I wrap the grip. Power was good, probably better than the C8. Dinks placed well and didn’t take any extra effort. Assessment after modifying grip – I overwrapped the grip with 2 head tacky overwraps. This makes the paddle very comfortable in my hand. The paddle felt effortless to use, power increased as did shot placement. Paddle was fast and no noticeable hand/thumb pain as previously noted. I did not experience any elbow pain after building up grip either. My wife seemed to play well with the thicker grip too. She was hitting shots well, running me around in singles (She insists I tell you she beat me in a game while she was playing with the C7)! Summary – The a11n Zenith C7 is a professional level Carbon fiber elongated blade paddle. Price is very favorable when compared to similar professional grade paddles. The paddle grip is small and rigid, but easily overwrapped to the users desired size/comfort. The narrow blade makes a noticeable positive difference in outdoor play in windy conditions. I didn’t appreciate an advantage in the additional length, but many feel that it will allow for better reach on hard to handle returns. The ball comes off the paddle with authority but is still very easy to control & place shots. It is easy to speed up and or slow down play when needed. The textured carbon fiber surface will enhance play for anyone incorporating spin in their game. All in, I would recommend the a11n Zenith C7! Company Impression – I have had the opportunity to interact with the company a11n on a couple occasions now. I initially bought a portable pickleball net from them after doing research on the many nets on the market, the a11n net was consistently near the top, only surpassed by nets at least twice the cost. I was not familiar with the company but trusted the multiple reviews (both written and video). I had to contact the company customer service after purchase due to the net having a stitching issue. I emailed the support address and they reached back out the same day. I dealt with Harper, who was very thorough and helpful. After sending requested pics of the flaw in the net, the net was replaced promptly. Harper stayed in constant contact throughout the process and followed up even after the replacement was received to ensure satisfaction. That spoke volumes to me, as it seems good customer service is a lost art. I would recommend a11n to anyone, & I would not hesitate to purchase any item from them. ... show more

  • 6/23 Update**
Color: Red-C7 Elongated
**See 6/23 update about AMAZING customer service! 6/18/23- only 1 star⭐️ Oh boy, where do I even start with the a11n Zenith C7 pickleball paddle? It's like they took a masterclass in disappointment and turned it into a paddle. When I unboxed it, I couldn't help but wonder if I accidentally stumbled upon the prototype for a "wear-and-tear" collection. Immediately I noticed that the carbon fiber was already worn (see pictures), as if it had gone through a battle & lost before I ever got to use it. Speaking of battle let's talk about the edge guard. It seemed like it had a rough night out and returned with a noticeable dent, as if it thought being fashionable meant sporting a warped look. Maybe it was trying to impress the rebellious paddles, but all it did was make me question its sturdiness and wonder if it had a secret identity as a crumpled up soda can. But wait, it gets better. We took it to the courts, gave it the benefit of the doubt, and gave it a shot… The "sweet spot" of this paddle was nowhere to be found. It played hide-and-seek so well that I started to think it was hiding in another paddle and a11n just left it out of this one altogether. I swung, I aimed, and I hoped for a magical connection, but alas, it felt more like I was playing a game of chance with every shot. In a bizarre twist of fate, my humble $20 Walmart paddle laughed in the face of the a11n paddle's attempt at superiority. It outshined, outperformed, and outplayed its supposedly premium counterpart. Who would have thought? If you're in the mood for an adventure filled with worn carbon fiber, a dented edge guard, and the elusive quest for the sweet spot, then by all means, go for the a11n Zenith CY pickleball paddle. But if you prefer a paddle that actually lives up to its claims and doesn't leave you questioning your life choices, I'd suggest looking elsewhere… 6/19/23 - As a customer and reviewer I emailed a11n asking what the plan is to make this right. I will update this review with the response. As customer service is extremely important in this growing market with paddles costing $100+. Until then consider this review my friendly public service announcement for pickleball enthusiasts everywhere! **UPDATED to 5 Stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️** 6/23 - emailed A11N directly, on 6/19, and Harper responded promptly. Received a new paddle today and took it out to the courts. FAR better feel and experience with this paddle! The sweet spot is savory and the swing is great! For a sub $100 paddle the customer service and range of this paddle’s play is the best in this cost category!!! Thanks again Harper for your help and responsiveness!! ... show more

  • Great paddle with all the modern features at good price.
Color: Red-C7 Elongated
a11n is a new brand. There’s obviously a lot of questions about if I should trust an unknown brand and seeing features like a T700 carbon faced thermoformed paddle for under $100 bucks. I have the C7 elongated shape. This is definitely a control paddle. The face generates a ton of spin which is great. The 16mm thick core absorbs ball energy well for softer shots but if you want to let it rip hitting that sweet spot with oomph totally generates plenty of power. I do wish it had a slightly larger sweet spot but for players with great hand eye, when you do hit it right it plays amazing. Its well balanced. I prefer a slightly heavier paddle so I added some a11n lead tape strips to it at all four corners to expand the sweet spot a bit and it drives the ball better without changing the soft game side. Overall I’m very impressed especially for the price. At $80 it’s a better choice than the Onix Z5. It plays more like a higher end Joola or Selkirk paddle but at half the price. The graphics are tasteful in my opinion. So far after two months of play it holds up very well and still looks fairly new. The company it seems has new paddles coming out soon looking at the USAPA approved list. a11n doesn’t seem to be a fly by night company, and they’re just getting started. I look forward to future products from this brand. ... show more
