  • Review: Perfect Upgrade for Top Fin 29-Gallon Tanks
Size: 20 to 55 Gallons
Better Performance than Stock Filters I purchased this to replace the original filter that came with my Top Fin 29-gallon tank. It has done a significantly better job of keeping the water crystal clear compared to the old filters that were constantly needing replacement. Easy Setup & Transition Fish-Safe Transition: Following the instructions, I kept both the old and new filters running for a week to help the fish transition smoothly. Built-in Aeration: I love that the bubbles are built-in. It allowed me to remove my separate air stone/bubbler, making the tank look much cleaner and less cluttered. Maintenance The maintenance is incredibly simple and cost-effective. Instead of buying expensive cartridges, I just follow the instructions to clean the sponges twice a month. It’s very easy to manage. The Verdict This is a quiet, powerful, and efficient Submersible Aquarium Filter. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade a standard kit filter to something more robust and easier to maintain. ... show more

  • Nice filter
Size: 55 to 100 Gallons
The media could not be loaded. I upgraded to this filter because I needed more power and filtration, and it works great. This filter moves some serious water and keeps the holding tank clean. It has a customizable oxygen aerator which is super helpful. My tank is about 15 gallons and it's able to keep it clean without trying very hard. The design is well thought out, you just unclick the sections, rinse out the filter sponges with tank water and reinstall. It comes with bio balls that install easily. It is about 13" tall and you can remove a section of filtration if you don't need as much (I got the 55-100 gallon filter). It is pretty quiet unless you are using a lot of oxygenation. You never need to replace filters in this which is highly convenient and why I went with this model. Overall I've used it for a few weeks now and I'm impressed. I'd recommend it if you want a simple, clean filter that doesn't require much work after the fact and looks nice. ... show more

  • Very easy and happy so far
Size: 55 to 100 Gallons
So far this filter is working great, easy setup and have only had it running for a few days now but my tank is already looking a little clearer, very quiet operation unless you introduce alot of air but love how the air and water flow are adjustable, you can keep it quiet, I have had large expensive exterior water filtration units for years that work but are hard to remove and clean and can be difficult to prime when starting up and always that worry about it springing a leak somewhere outside of the tank, the last two of the larger motors I’ve had only lasted less than six months each, this unit seems amazing for the price, also really like how it comes apart in sections to clean or adjust size, really happy with it so far, definitely recommend trying this out ... show more

  • Read about the clip. Otherwise a solid filter!
Size: 55 to 100 Gallons
The media could not be loaded. Pros- -three sections of filtration -easy to take sections apart to clean - multiple water flow level options -powerful -quiet Cons- - the clip to attach to tank SUCKS. I hope the person who designed it steps on a thousand legos barefoot. It relies on water level and the units own buoyancy to keep it in place, so any time you do a water change, it falls off and sinks like a stone. Hence the rock mine is balanced on. I almost gave this thing three stars because of that, but the unit works very well for the price point. Mine has been running for about 6 months. ... show more

  • Filter replaced and working
Size: 55 to 100 Gallons
UPDATE: Customer service reached out to me to inquire about what specifically was wrong with my unit. I was having issues with the propeller. A replacement filter was provided and so far working great. I appreciate the quick response as my turtle is extra messy this time of year. I will update if anything changes, though I feel fairly confident it will keep working this time. ORIGINAL: I was originally impressed with the filter. Was pretty quiet and easy to put together. I cleaned it and saw that it had caught a lot. However, it has stopped working since its first cleaning. This isn't my first filter. I try to be careful when cleaning. Not sure why it stopped working. But now my tank is dirty again so quickly and I'm filterless. ... show more

  • JUNK
Size: 55 to 100 Gallons
I’ve had a 45g square tank out of commission for years now. My boyfriend wanted to surprise me by trying to help me get it running. Unfortunately he’s not very informed in the aquatic world. He ordered one of these and I’ve hated it from the moment I laid eyes on it. He asked that I give it a chance, so I reluctantly unboxed and assembled according to the instructions. Out of the gate I noticed quite a few flaws. First being the horrible water flow. It advertises 30° of vertical adjustment for the power head, but they seem to have forgotten my 30° when assembling the product. You’re stuck at the flow direction they give you, only allowing for horizontal movement. The amount of movement may be impressive to some, but for someone who’s always had fluval tanks and filters I’m not so easily swayed. So around and around my water swirls, only swirling around the top of the tank. I allowed that to go on for a few hours before noticing there was zero progress in water quality. The thing just doesn’t clean it at all. This was a fresh substrate out of the bag tank. Lil bit of tank water from the mother and some dirt sediment. The water should clear up quick. Nope. Setup was fairly easy, but those suctions were hanging on for dear life from the start. Not surprised they detach themselves and make a run for it. I do like the adjustable storage for the bio balls, but with all the chambers hooked up and still no clean water, what good will it do anyone if you take a section out? I also see many people talking about fish being sucked into the thing, and yeah. Not a great design. Might be safe for use if it’s upside down, but I don’t trust it to not mow down any of the tank critters. Not even taking the chance. The thing runs, for now. It’s not very quiet and I can honestly say I don’t trust it to be my tanks lifeline. Looking forward to getting my fluval and returning…assuming it’s possible. Many people have mentioned that phony warranty they have. Can’t wait to find out more about that… ... show more
