The media could not be loaded. I upgraded to this filter because I needed more power and filtration, and it works great. This filter moves some serious water and keeps the holding tank clean. It has a customizable oxygen aerator which is super helpful. My tank is about 15 gallons and it's able to keep it clean without trying very hard. The design is well thought out, you just unclick the sections, rinse out the filter sponges with tank water and reinstall. It comes with bio balls that install easily. It is about 13" tall and you can remove a section of filtration if you don't need as much (I got the 55-100 gallon filter). It is pretty quiet unless you are using a lot of oxygenation. You never need to replace filters in this which is highly convenient and why I went with this model. Overall I've used it for a few weeks now and I'm impressed. I'd recommend it if you want a simple, clean filter that doesn't require much work after the fact and looks nice.

So far this filter is working great, easy setup and have only had it running for a few days now but my tank is already looking a little clearer, very quiet operation unless you introduce alot of air but love how the air and water flow are adjustable, you can keep it quiet, I have had large expensive exterior water filtration units for years that work but are hard to remove and clean and can be difficult to prime when starting up and always that worry about it springing a leak somewhere outside of the tank, the last two of the larger motors I’ve had only lasted less than six months each, this unit seems amazing for the price, also really like how it comes apart in sections to clean or adjust size, really happy with it so far, definitely recommend trying this out

Three months, thirty-five gallon tank, six molly fish, two live plants and zero water added or tank cleaning necessary, thus far, so an A+ on functioning efficiently. It seems that will save money in the long run, not having to treat water, etc.. This filter is very easy to set up. I am considering setting up another tank. If I do, I will most definitely be purchasing another one of these filters! PS I use both pieces of the filter made for fifty-five gallon.

The media could not be loaded. I have two of these! One in my 20gal and one in my 10 gal! To fit in my 10 gal tank, I had to separate the middle section and remove it, only using 1 of the 2 sections. I love that you can break it up! Air pump for aeration, wave-maker for current, sponge for mechanical filtration, and biomedia for bio filtration, all in one? Yes please! It's very adjustable, up, down, left, right, water flow, and air flow are both separately adjustable. It's whisper quiet and can be fully submerged. My fish love the current and my loaches are more active. The sponge filter is not exactly what I was hoping for. I was hoping they would use a really fine sponge to filter really tiny debris out. The coarse big sponges are okay, but it would be better if they were fine to properly clear the water. A fine sponge will also last a lifetime, and never need to be changed. Just squeezed out to clean it. It made my water crystal clear! I drained a little of my tank into a bucket, submerged this, swished around the biomedia and sponges, and primed it. Then I let it drain, and put it in my main tank, and dumped the water in the toilet. This is to drain any leftover chemicals from the manufacturing process. It's rarely needed, but better safe than sorry! I then ran this with my old filter for 2 weeks to let the bacteria establish before I remove the old filter. I love that the core is just biomedia and sponge filters, because you just have to squeeze them out into a little bit of tank water and nothing else is needed! It's a little pricey for a filter like this, sure, but it's cheaper than also getting an air pump and a wave maker as well. This makes a LOT of current. I returned it to 5 stars. I put my sheet polishing filter wrapped around and it worked well. I like the design and it even fit in my 10 gal fine! I wish the blue plastic pieces were also black, to blend in. I had to replace the air line tubing, and the adjustment knob. The ones it comes with are not good at all, and the line kinks.

UPDATE: Customer service reached out to me to inquire about what specifically was wrong with my unit. I was having issues with the propeller. A replacement filter was provided and so far working great. I appreciate the quick response as my turtle is extra messy this time of year. I will update if anything changes, though I feel fairly confident it will keep working this time. ORIGINAL: I was originally impressed with the filter. Was pretty quiet and easy to put together. I cleaned it and saw that it had caught a lot. However, it has stopped working since its first cleaning. This isn't my first filter. I try to be careful when cleaning. Not sure why it stopped working. But now my tank is dirty again so quickly and I'm filterless.
